      You're not looking hard enough.

  3. First things first, how can I get the Atari 2600 to show up on the system select menu? If I add a blank .zip it shows up but it gives me a missing files error. Secondly, the text resolution seems to decrese when I enter a system:
  4. Nice game you have there! Like the fact that the graphics change each level, being a ZX spectrum owner I'm quite envyous! It kinda annoys me that the sound for the atari 800XL in MESS stutters... I hope it's just my laptop... I'm looking forward to the Atari 7800 version!
  5. Just got MESS to work. Woohoo! :)

  6. Why is Firefox saying Atariage isn't a trusted source? And why won't any images on the main site load?

  7. ...I have no idea how I managed to do this...
  8. Tried to run a 7800 game on MESS, couldn't get it to run from command line, couldn't find a good frontend. Why the hell is MESS so user unfriendly? Time to see if Prosystem works...

mess.exe a7800 -cart "d:\rni\atari 7800 roms\Centipede (1987) (Atari).zip" -- Include the quotes and change the path to where your game ROMs are located.

OR just press tab after launching mess.exe. Use arrow keys to scroll the various systems and press enter to launch the a7800 one. Or you can type a78. From there hit Tab again, go to File Manager hit enter, On cart slot, hit enter again, navigate to your game rom path and press enter to launch a game.

Why not make button 2 bring up a menu where you can choose these options? Might work.
  10. *Sees RevEng's sig for the first time* Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! Will definitely dip my toes into this program soon. Also: I can see alot of other programs ran from the command line benefiting from this...
  11. Are there any good 7800 or Lynx games I can pick up for a low price?

Can't speak to them shipping to the UK, but I can vouch for them as a company. I've never had any issues ordering from them.

  12. Will Javatari ever have DPC+ surport? (Even though I don't know what DCP+ is...)

  13. Cool! If you make a GUI for this, you should have an option to either save the dumped rom or just make a tempory dump.
  14. If you guys want more info on this emulator, look here.
  15. Owning a PAL Atari 7800 (With Asteroids built in to the system) I have some questions... 1. I once saw a page that said the 7800 couldn't play 2600 games that used bacnkswitching, is this true? (if it helps, the only 2600 game I have is Crystal Castles) 2. I also saw a page that said that the Starpath Superchager didn't work with the 7800, is that true? 3. My copy of Donkey Kong JR (The only 7800 cartrage I have) dosen't have the rainbow atari logo when it boots up, why might that be?
  16. A Pac-man clone? Look like you are jummpinng on the bandwagon of most other 2600 developers...
  17. When I try to compile: Compile started at 27/11/2013 20:16:14 Compiling E:\VisualBB\Projects\Something\Something_Title.bas Could not locate sed.exe. Please copy sed.exe to E:\VisualBB\bB. This will improve DASM error reporting Precompilation failed, aborted at 27/11/2013 20:16:14 ...what is going wrong?
  18. I can still do it, all you have to do is throw the enemy to the bottom screen and then press DOWN & FIRE while overlaping the enemy. It may take a few tries, by the way.
  19. Somehow I managed to do this: Also, I can't seem to get into the first door, am I getting something wrong?
  20. I forgot about the examples folder when downloading it, my bad. I'll have a look through the tutorials for VBB this week and I MIGHT be able to show something...
  21. Thanks, but with the title screen tutorial the sample .bmp files metioned by tutorial didn't come with my download of the kernal.
  22. Welp, I've wanted to have a crack at making my own Atari 2600 game with VBB, but there just isn't a "how to make a simple game" tutorial that I know of that isn't the outdated tinkernut tutorial, and that didn't go through everything. I also wonder if there is a tutorial on using the title screen kernal. Thanks in advance.
  23. Did you know that Dragonfire was originaly called Cheese?

      retrorussell

That would make sense; that's what your "safe spot" looks like on every level inside the castle-- a hunk of cheese with a slice taken out.
