First things first, how can I get the Atari 2600 to show up on the system select menu? If I add a blank .zip it shows up but it gives me a missing files error.
Secondly, the text resolution seems to decrese when I enter a system:

Nice game you have there! Like the fact that the graphics change each level, being a ZX spectrum owner I'm quite envyous!
It kinda annoys me that the sound for the atari 800XL in MESS stutters... I hope it's just my laptop...
I'm looking forward to the Atari 7800 version!

...I have no idea how I managed to do this...

The issue is having a control that basically 'save to play', 'exit to menu', and 'random maze' as well as the toggle. I couldn't come up with an elegant solution with the 2 buttons, unfortunately.
Why not make button 2 bring up a menu where you can choose these options? Might work.

*Sees RevEng's sig for the first time*
Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!
Will definitely dip my toes into this program soon.

Also:
When you double-click 7800bas.bat and see the window appear and disappear, it's normal. It does that because it's the batch file is meant to be run from a CMD window, instead of being double-clicked. (but I should probably add some kind of detection for this, with a warning message)
I can see alot of other programs ran from the command line benefiting from this...

Cool!

If you make a GUI for this, you should have an option to either save the dumped rom or just make a tempory dump.

Owning a PAL Atari 7800 (With Asteroids built in to the system) I have some questions...
1. I once saw a page that said the 7800 couldn't play 2600 games that used bacnkswitching, is this true? (if it helps, the only 2600 game I have is Crystal Castles)
2. I also saw a page that said that the Starpath Superchager didn't work with the 7800, is that true?
3. My copy of Donkey Kong JR (The only 7800 cartrage I have) dosen't have the rainbow atari logo when it boots up, why might that be?

A Pac-man clone? Look like you are jummpinng on the bandwagon of most other 2600 developers...

When I try to compile:
Compile started at 27/11/2013 20:16:14
Compiling E:\VisualBB\Projects\Something\Something_Title.bas
Could not locate sed.exe. Please copy sed.exe to E:\VisualBB\bB. This will improve DASM error reporting
Precompilation failed, aborted at 27/11/2013 20:16:14...what is going wrong?

I can still do it, all you have to do is throw the enemy to the bottom screen and then press DOWN & FIRE while overlaping the enemy.
It may take a few tries, by the way.

Somehow I managed to do this:

Also, I can't seem to get into the first door, am I getting something wrong?

I forgot about the examples folder when downloading it, my bad.

I'll have a look through the tutorials for VBB this week and I MIGHT be able to show something...

-
Thanks, but with the title screen tutorial the sample .bmp files metioned by tutorial didn't come with my download of the kernal.

-
Welp, I've wanted to have a crack at making my own Atari 2600 game with VBB, but there just isn't a "how to make a simple game" tutorial that I know of that isn't the outdated tinkernut tutorial, and that didn't go through everything. I also wonder if there is a tutorial on using the title screen kernal.
Thanks in advance.

That looks awesome! Same I can't come as I live in europe...

Thank you.
I now have a lovely new desktop.
You're welcome! -
Oops, didn't notice that.

Thanks for the help.

I've been using vBb on a portable hard drive and an idea came into my head:
The problem with using vBb on a portable hard drive is that the settings won't stay (as they get saved to registry).
What I'm asking for is a feature to save vBb's settings to a file (Like a .ini file) located in the same directory as VisualbB.exe and have the settings load when you open vBb.

Well, it seems (or should I say it is) very unfinished... for one thing the game feels to slow for me. (Are you going to make it faster as the game goes along?) I think the crow should make a sound and change visually when its hit. (As in having it explode or it falling of the screen. One last thing I dislike is how the game just freezes when you lose. But big trees from little acorns grow and I hope that this can turn into a fun 2600 game.

vbB is working ok, I just need to figure out how to make a title screen!

Thanks.

I'm copy-pasting this topic from another forum (since I'm getting a grand total of zero responses), hope you guys don't mind...
