- Atari 2600 games on the Atari 8Bit computers line
Drummerboy replied to Drummerboy's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Ohhh really?.. That's interesting. I did not know that information about the adapter is a complete 2600. Say no more. Explained! -
Hello, I have understood the Atari 5200 its basically the an Atari 8Bit computer just without keyboard, different joysticks and "skin". So, the Atari 5200 have an Atari 2600 cartridge adapter, to play 2600 game on the Atari 5200 game console. Then if is this possible in the 5200, why its no possible load Atari 2600 roms from any device like Sio2SD on the Atari 8bit computers line?. if any Atari 8Bit computer it is technically the same as an Atari 5200. Just wondered about. Thanks, Regards!

You know, i am not sure what kind of keyboard model is but is different to the keyboard on other Atari 800XL for sure. This is more tight than the other, and keys surface you can feel little texturized.

Yeah, i saw that feature in the Atari 2600. About the SIO noises i found as interesting thing, talking about real Disk Drive with real diskettes (of course), because this can work to monitoring the Disk Drive is working and loading. You know, i came from Commodore world, and sometimes the Disk Drive seems like are working, the Disk Drive light activity is working, but maybe the load was an "sleeping" state; so if on Commodore would have had a feature like SIO noises, you can know if just the load time goes to sleep.

The thing i always wondering, is that "beep beep beep...." sound when the computer are loading from disk drive. Its interesting and unique feature in the Atari 8Bit computers. Other curious Atari 8Bit feature, is when you dont touch anything in the machine, and after some minutes, the screen change continusly colors, you know, i think that is like the first "screensaver". Right?

Amazing!!. Congratulations and thanks!. Just as suggest 2600 game names, could be nice ported to 8bit Computers: ET 2600; Robot Tank, Presure Cooker, Moon Patrol (i know we have a better version, but 2600 is nice), Kung Fu Master, Star Master, Enduro (i know we have GACCRR, but could be funny Enduro 2600), California Games (To have even that version on Atari 8Bit Computers). Anyway, great job!

H.E.R.O is one of my favorite 8 Bit Game ever. I played on C=64 and Atari 2600, i can't remember the Score, but the was Level 25, on C=64 and 2600. On the Atari 8bit my max Level was around 22. I don't have pic, but the next time i will do it.

Really?, maybe you need update your Wine version. Sure, i can use my USB Gamepad perfectly!
-
I forget, with Altirra running under Wine, i can use my USB gamepad as Atari 8Bit computer joystick. Work great!. Anyway you can config the USB gamepad on Atari800, but is more harder to do, but is possible too.

Leaving and Returning to the Atari 8-Bits
Drummerboy replied to MrFish's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I am back to the "real Atari thing" (on 8bit), on 2011. But i emulated Atari 8Bit since 90s. -
Just press F1, then, you can enter to General Menu to config as you want. But, if you want run Altirra (i do in my UBUNTU PCs), you only need install Wine, and will run very good. The best Atari 8Bit emulator i ever see.

Sure in short. The Atari load times is more fast than Commodore 64. Commodore 128 with the C=1571, i think is too fast. Thats the reason in C=64 exist too many Turbo Loaders. The Atari 8Bit, have a autoboot load just like an Amiga. For me its the same concept.

computer users groups: then and now....?
Drummerboy replied to Atari-Collector's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Back in the 80s, i was "Club Atari, Costa Rica" member. Was an Atari 8Bit Computers Users Club. Had many own software developers. I thinks is hard to recover something, but i know a guy maybe could have some disks. A friend of mine, made a Intelligence Artificial, program, called "The Thinker". You can talk with your Atari 8bit, about anything, the computer learned about you, and if you used many times, the computer trust most in you. Was interesting and worked very good. -
What Was Your First Atari 8-Bit Computer?
Drummerboy replied to MrFish's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
My first Atari Computer was a Atari 600XL. Years Later a Atari 65XE. Now i have a Atari 600XL and two Atari 800XL. But, I admit I'm always was more Commodore and Amiga (the real Atari 8Bit Sucesor! ) user. -
