  1. Excellent work. I am completely taken by your prompt response and straight - to the point - actions. Keep it up
  2. I have been searching for a decent Atari file management program for more than a year. I found only few of which that can deliver the archival minimal needs of a collection that is getting bigger overtime. The following are the file organizers that I am aware of: Atadim http://raster.infos.cz/atari/forpc/atadim.htm Atari File-Management v1.7.002 http://www.hcrburk.de/af170002.zip Atari File Lister v0.60164 http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/holmes%20cd/Holmes%202/PC%20Atari%20Programming%20Utils/atari%20file%20lister/index.html What really made me write this message is the following: C64-Archiv v3.4 http://www.nightfallcrew.com/28/10/2012/mike-has-released-a-new-version-of-the-c64-archiv-v3-4/ C64-Archiv descriptions: - Scans and stores your C64 – (games) – collection with only a few clicks. - Easily manages your C64-programs by creating your own categories and selections. - Starts the C64-programs in different emulators. - Delivers instructions for the emulators VICE, CCS64, HOXS64 and EMU64. - Works with tools e.g. 64Copy, D64Lister or DirMaster. - Stores the C64-programs from files with the extensions: .D64, .D71, .P00, .PRG e. .T64. - Stores files by name with the extensions: .TAP, .VSF (VICE-snapshot-file) and .C64 (CCS64-session-file). - Stores text and information files with the extensions: .TXT, .NFO and .DIZ - Stores PDF files. - Searches archiv files with the extensions: .ZIP, .7Z and .CAB - GameBase frontend with the possibility to download games. - GameBase view with up to 30 columns. - Supports multi-language (currently: Englisch, French, Italian, Spanish and German) Compare the above C64 Archive program with what is currently available old and not updated Atari ones. We need another Mike here. I wonder if any one is interested to deliver similar project for Atari ? starwindz : Are you watching?

  4. @ rdea6 Thank you for the hints. I changed the sector size to 256 and things turned great. I now have D3: act as a booting SpartDOS hard disk (SpartaDOS Pro Ver 3.3a 3-Nov-94) I had difficult times to figure out how to format a partition (ie, D4:) using MyDOS. It turned to be that "\N" is needed to complete the format. How noob I was. Did not read the MyDOS manual. @ phaeron Sorry for my English. I was referring to the "Ultimate 1MB (U1MB) Rom Builder v1.0.4" by (atari8warez) where I was not able to flash the Ultimate 1MB ROM correctly. Actually, I did flash the Ultimate 1MB ROM after adding my choice of ROMs correctly using "TheRomGenerator_v1_0_19". by AtariGeezer. The save configuration "S" and load SIDE Loader "L" options were already working from start. Thank you for the Gem program (Altirra) . Also, thank you very much for the time and efforts you devote into it in order to make it easier for Atari users.
  5. While awaiting my U1MB ordered from lotharek, I tried to test it virtually under Altirra v2.5. The following are some of the of findings: - I was able to install/run virtual U1MB under Altirra using Ultimate.atr from: http://www.atari8.co.uk/apt/ultimate1mb/index.html - Used fdisk.com v4.5 to set up FAT and APT (drives D3-D8). ran the "format" command under Spartados x to format D3 only and made it bootable. Copied X33A_50.DOS into it and used boot command to make it the loaded DOS. But if I choose to disable Spartados from U1MB menu, Altirra freezes (may be D3 is not booting from start !!) - Made my custom ROMS and flashed them using "TheRomGenerator_v1_0_19". Thank you AtariGeezer . - Loaded games ATRs into FAT and ran them successfully through side loader. - Unfortunately, I couldn't flash ROMs using Ultimate 1MB (U1MB) Rom Builder v1.0.4 by Ray. after flashing, I could see the flashed ROM names, but when I hold down the "L" key, I only get repeated key clicks. - I managed to go to basic (solved the issue). Things I couldn’t manage to do (yet). A helping hand is appreciated: - Format any of the HD drives using MYDOS. I only was managed to configure the drives with "R" and make any drive size to 65535 sectors (i.e. 4H). For mating with "I" returns error 139. - I had better times using SIDE for virtual hard drive VHD than SIDE2 (as a hardware). Special thanks you flashjazzcat for the enormous links and subjects about U1MB and SIDE. I learned a lot and still learning .
  6. Is there any way to turn on BASIC in the Side loader "L" under U1MB using Altirra? The ATR(s) are loaded from the virtual Hard drive (.VHD ) nicely, but Basic is always turned off. madi
  7. I only have few disk poxes (games and utilities) escaped from the trash massacre made by my wife for my Atari treasure when she decided to clean the "garbage". I wish I was there on that day I currently use one 130XE that I purchased from eBay few months back with full blown ram .(fixed 11 days ago). and one 1050 drive. I discovered 4 Arabic games in one diskette and an Arabic word editor dumped from cartridges using one 65xe NAJM computer (in aDawaliah) branch in Jeddh, SA around 1989 or so) I will have a separate thread once i receive my SIO2PC ordered from Ray. 8. For HP computers, I think this link will solve the function keys issue: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02035108 You can adjust the keyboard behavior from the BIOS Madi
  9. If you have a Toshiba computer, you should search for "TOSHIBA System settings" and go to keyboard and switch setting to: Standard F1-F12 mode. Many other brand name computers have similar utility. Madi
  10. Thank you all for info and suggestions, that I learned a lot. When I swapped the banks as suggested by Jurgen, I got a black screen (with some twisted grey vertical lines). I switched back to the original connections of resistors R110 and R111 and the test ram screen came alive again (all bad except 3 boxes). I guess that I will wait for the ram chips I did order yesterday and let you know of the outcome. (a simple eBay purchase turned into a project ). Unfortunately, orders take 18-25 days to arrive. BTW, Almost Rice had mentioned a 320xe ram upgrade. I though it is still a beta project. I would appreciate it if some one put the link. Regards Madi
  11. Just to add more testing results. I turned the 130XE on for 10 mins, then measured the temperature of all chips on board with gun (laser) thermometer All RAM chips (16) were of normal room temperature (25 +1 or 2 C) except for: C014806C (Atari SALLY 6502C) ? and C021697 (ANTEC 'E') ? which are the only socketted chips. The temperature of both was 41 C. I thought, that temperature goes very high for damaged RAM chips Madi
  12. Thank you Kyle for the information. I opened the 130XE and found 16 ram chips 15 of them marked with µT 4264-20 and only one was marked with m 3764_15RS (OKI). I tested the power supply voltage on pins 1,4,6 of the C061982 power supply and it read +5v. It is not clear to me which is the best RAM replacement technique: Should I buy the same chip ratings (64k) ? or can I replace them with compatible 256K for example? Is it possible to mount the new ram chips on top of original ones (piggybacked) to be safer? What are the recommended RAM brand(s) Madi
  13. I purchased an Atari 130XE through eBay. When I turned it on, it went directly to ram test . All ram boxes (cells) showed red color except for the box 1, 13 ,21 and 22. when I inserted a CART, it always go to ram test screen only. Is it mainly a ram failure issue? If I get a ram extension model such as RAM320XE will be suffice? Thnx

  15. Be sure to Detach cartridge from "File" menu first like this image: Then, you choose the MicroCalc image from "Attach Cartridge.." or drop it in Altirra windows and choose the following: Here it is running: Good luck
  16. Open Altirra |Go to "File", Choose "Attach Cartridge" You get a " Load Cartridge " window. Choose "MicroCalc (Altirra Emulator Only).bin". Pick" *MicroCalc 32k " which is the last option (among other options in the Select Cartridge Mapper window) That is all
  17. I hope that I am not the only Arabic speaking member here Honestly speaking, I do not expect people from Arabian peninsula still own Atari 8 bit machines. Am I mistaken?
