When you connect SIO to device and turn on the Computer, you should boot to SDrive menu on the monitor/TV screen. I think the power that is coming from pin 10 of the SIO is not enough to fully power the TFT screen of the SDrive. There are several causes for this, depending on how heavenly moded your computer is . As a summery, if you are using a stock computer the device screen should come on. But if you are using a moded 8 bit computer, it is likely that the power coming from the computer will not be enough. Best practice, is to use a 9-12v external power supply. madi

Thank you for your valuable suggestion. However I think, this type of 4position, 1pole will not accommodate all 4 drive select options. The 5 position 1 pole switch will be suffice, but the nice numbering will be lost. Also, using 4 position 2 poles will be acceptable, but I noticed (from reviewing few switches) that they are bulky and need drilling of the case. Again, thank you for the effort. madi

You are right. There are a lot of ways to look at it. I am thinking of replacing the defective switch with 2 bit Slide Type Switch 2.54 mm like in the picture. I have a crazy idea that involves replacement of the SS-packaging of the old switch with one generic slide switch packaging. Of course, I have to take measurements and dimension of the defective switch packaging. This would be my last resort. thanks for the info madi
-
Actually, 2 tabs that hold the packing to the core of the switch are broken. The issue I am having is that Best electronics who have this switch asking for 20 US as minimum purchase. Add that to the international shipping cost= $$$. madi

Thanks .. sent a request. I will have an open eye on the International shipping cost ?

Could not find the select switch for the 1050 disk drive any where. (I am aware that is a sort of 2 bit dip slide switch). Is there any equivalent replacement for this switch? Thanks madi

Current best S-video /picture improvement mod for 800XL?
Madi replied to iainjh's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Thank you for the info. I was only concentrating on the Atari side. I understand from the above that, the TV/monitor must have the S-Video jack/outlet to receive the Chroma signal form Atari (which it failed and only showed white/black screen) ? madi -
Current best S-video /picture improvement mod for 800XL?
Madi replied to iainjh's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I tried to conduct the simple video mod on my NTSC 800XL rev."C" made in Honk Kong. It is equipped with an Ultimate U1MB. The TV is 65" Dansat. When the other side of C54 is lifted, the screen is always back and white. Color is possible only when the C54 is connected. Let the picture explain it better: Note: Connection through 4 is only possible if wire is removed and C54 is in place. So, need your advice please. I thought it would be easy.? madi -
Did any one try to build SDrive-Max using 3.5" TFT touch screen LCD? I am aware that the current available 3D printed cases are for the 2.8 inches, but for most elderly, larger screens will be better. even thinking of 3.95" screens ?. It is a matter of drivers. Isn't it? Madi

Strange.. I tested the game on Altirra 3.10-test28 WIN10 X64 The file: Ikhtabir Thaka'ak (198x)(aDawliah)(SA),bin works only when AltirraOS for XL/XE/XEGS is selected as an OS. The cartridge mapper 52 *MicroCalc 32K also must be selected. The file: Ikhtabir Thaka'ak (198x)(aDawliah)(SA).car, is automatically picked up by Altirra. The game executed normally using either: Atari XL/XE/XEGS OS ver.4 or AltirraOS for XL/XE/XEGS. For any other OS, the game screen for (.car) will load but when an option is selected (using arrows) and then Enter is pressed, the emulator freezes madi

I had a close look at the working image file :"Bank_ul_Maalumat.bin" My finding is that the whole cartridge banks only serve two purposes. 1. Download a basic program (the game) to ram. 2 Provide a Basic Cartridge at $A000 - BFFF for the basic program to run Funny. The basic program (game) is attached. LOAD and RUN madi BankMalu.BAS

Hi atari65xenajm I only managed to run the following file: 31_MegaCart_512_Ikhtabir_Thakaak.bin Actually it is not Ikhtabir Thakaak.bin. It is Bank_ul_Maalumat.bin which was reported as working file in an earlier post. madi

Same findings. I guess that the conversion of The_Tail_of_Beta_Lyrae__Databyte.scp image file went wrong at some where in the conversion process of the original disk. The summery obtained from the conversion at the CMD (Command Prompt) window using a8rawconv.exe is identical to that in the The_Tail_of_Beta_Lyrae__Databyte.txt file found in the zip file. i.e : 330 missing sectors, 49 phantom sectors, 17 sectors with errors. madi

Madi replied to Mclaneinc's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi Mclaneinc I found this disk image with the same loader you are looking for. A quick look at the image, it shows that the loader resides in directory sectors (361-368). This loader also can access sectors beyond 720. madi DYSK_31A 180 PANTHER HENRYS HOUSE BOWLING.atr
