Actually, they have some type of copy protection techniques that are based on specific words in the game manuals. See this link . madi

What I am sure about is that those files were individually downloaded from Moose BBS because the disk has a MOOSE BBS label. I remember that I used the basic program "menu maker" to archive my .exe games/car.

I was maintaining the few survived old diskettes I still have when I saw a neat basic Menu maker program I had downloaded from MOOSE BBS, Madison, WI back in 1985. I do not recall if I have seen it anywhere. On the same disk, I found another menu maker named Quick Loader by Micropulse. Also, there are 2 copy unprotecting files. One of them is intended to crack Infocom software and the other is to unprotect Brøderbund Software. The disk image is attached. madi Moose.zip

The Cassette game image was kindly provided by Fred_M : Link: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/265012-help-to-get-atarimuseumnl-software-collection-available-to-the-community/page-4?do=findComment&comment=3838562 The Turbo Enabled function was introduced in Altirra v2,99 release as you are aware. Basic has to be enabled to run the game. Although the publisher requested that it should be only run under 400-800 computers, I ran it successfully under XL OS with built-in Basic is enabled under Altirra x64, v2.90 test 35. For some reason, the Cassette boot record interfere with loading under Altirra x64 v2.99 test 1 and upward releases (turbo code?). Of course, there is a working around to this. After the cas first record is loaded, quickly press RESET and type CLOAD. Pressing F1 key, will accelerate loading. Once the READY prompt shows, just type RUN. The game will load data and then run normally. Oh, Mclaneinc I am too old for that. madi

Hi phaeron The Cave Runner game (cassette) does not load in Altirra x64 2.99 test 1 to 7. The game loads and runs normally on Altirra x64 2.90 test 35 and earlier. It looks a if the "Turbo Enabled" option is always on even if it is not selected. Caverunner(1983)(English Software)(UK).zip madi

Thank you AtariGeezer I have been waiting for this feature-rich release for some quite time. For members who do not have much programming experience, ATRTools comes to light as a lightweight but essential and unique multi purpose editing and archiving program. Please keep up the great, "still" tiresome but delightful and self enjoying project. thank you madi

It is suffice it to say that most of us are aware of the famous disk utility program: DISKEY by Sparky Starks. It consists of several subroutines. It was released by Adventure International in 1982. The same company released an XL-XE compatible DISKEY in 1983 ($79 and $7A were substituted by 00 and 01). However, what puzzled me for long time is that, the TAPE to DISK subroutine always freeze when "DSKYTAP" file is executed. DISKEY directory: F# FILE EXT FS T# 1 DOS SYS 6 39 2 AUTORUN SYS 45 17 3 D 62 7 4 DISKEY 69 151 5---> DSKYTAP 220 15 <--- 6 DSKYDRV 235 59 7 DSKYDAT 294 5 8 DSKYSPC 299 62 Apparently, in line 5, "DSKYTAP" file has a USR call to address $0680 which has no code whatsoever. Thus DISKEY crashes. When the B=USR(1664) is REM or deleted, the file will execute successfully. Of course, I thought about this USR call and its purpose. Unfortunately, there are many things can be thought of. The one million $$ question is: Did Mr. Starks and the publisher (two releases) were not aware of this problem? The software was reviewed by many magazines and user groups without any mentioning of this bug. Also, tell date, I could not find any reference discussing the TAPE to DISK bug. Any one has a clue? madi

I think that, the keyboards where the letter G key shows one character (L) is an older version compered to the other one with two characters. Actually, the two characters on the G key are for the same letter which is "L: pronounced as LAM" I think the reason of engraving both shapes of letter "L" on the key "G" is because: The letter "L" or " ل in Arabic" is the written as "L" character when it comes at the end of the word like camel "جمل" or when the letter "L" is typed alone. But if the letter "L" is typed within a word like dream "حلم" it will resemble the letter "A-a" ا " in Arabic ". Similar to the small letter "l" and number "1" when typed in some fonts. Note that, all the Arabic letters in that row show Arabic characters graphics when typed within Arabic words except for the letter "L" where it is shown as if typed at the end of words. Thus to avoid the confusion, they engraved both shapes of the letter LAM (L) on Key G to avoid confusion they created with the first Keyboards they issued with the Arabic Atari. In summery Atari made a mistake in the older keyboard when they engraved printed letter "L" instead of "l" in a key row intended for letters to be printed at the beginning or within words. Therefore, they corrected it in a later version were they printed both cases on the KEY "G" madi

No, you don't need to add a diode to your device at all. It uses genuine FT232RL chip. It has a hardware device sensing ability. This means that it will function as SIO2PC and 10502PC. The version 2.0 devices utilize the original FTDI drivers without modification. Hence, no need to alter device VID/PID. Read here for more info. madi

Hi DrVenkman I noticed that you have purchased SIO2PC/10502PC Dual-USB v3.0 device from Ray (this link.. I think !). Ray already explained the issue of not being able to use the device (version 3.0 only) with real Disk drives Hear. Have a look at this link. Actually, I purchased the same device from atari8warez. Although he offered a replacement, I decided to keep it as is and not to modify it either. Please note: If you modify the device, you will lose 10502PC functionality. madi
