Madi replied to eegad's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
It is a basic game. Just press RESET and LIST it. -
Under XEP-80, text in AtariWord 80: The copy/save frames works. Thank you phaeron. There is a minor point you might consider it as an info.. The Save frame / Copy frame with Aspect ratio yields pictures with less contrast compared to screen shots of Altirra window or a normal Save/Copy frame. madi

I was a member of MAAUG too. I was in the soldering workshop some evening of year 1984 (don't recall details due to age). I had a memory upgrade for my 2 Atari 800XL computers (256 and 512K). I had no experience of soldering at all at that time. What I remember is that the workshop continued until late night. Unfortunately, I lost the name of the participates and all my Atari related hardware and (most software). You brought good memories although might be barely remembered. Madai

Fixed .. Thanx Not fixed. Thank you phaeron In our Atari community, there are quiet few people that share their time, efforts and own money without bountiful attitudes to keep our beloved Atari alive. Yet, there are really fewer people that have the vision of preserving Atari even after all of its hardware equipment are either turned into dust or only found in Museums. They work very hard so future generations will be able to enjoy yesterday's technology. They seek eternity for Atari. I believe you are one of really few. madi

Hi Mclaneinc I installed the English - UK as the sole language pack to investigate the difficulties you had experienced with Atari-Archiv 1.3. I couldn't reproduce the said errors you faced. However, the program crashes if INI file is missing. With version 1.4, the program opens the database and run normally under the situation where INI file is missing. But it will generate an error upon exiting due to missing INI file that needed to store data. Sorry, for not being able to give much help. madi

Hi AtariGeezer I was experementing with the "Scan ATR Files" feature of the ATR Tools. I noticed that "ATR Search Results" always terminate with an error. The error occurs on random basis. The fatal error may take place after few search cycles only. I suspect that whenever ATR Tools starts searching in a new folder (I am not sure) by pressing "Start Search", a little annoying windows popups "fread Result". Eventually, the program terminates. See picture: madi

Thank you Stephen Although, it did not come as our wishes, still we didn't expect something out of the ordinary. For me (and guess for others as well), it is another proof that you always try your best to be available for Atari community. Helping others is a blessing. madi

Thank you Timothy Kline for your offer to download the FTP/ZIP file and to look at. I think that what you are reffing to is a WWW.ATARI.COM AFAIK, the FTP is a file server and not GUI based site. (file transfer only). Therefore, the contents may differ. madi

According to Archive.org: I was tempted to download this huge FTP site and see what is hidden inside. Unfortunately, the FTP size is beyond my internet connection speed (26.3G) Did any one have a look at it before? Link : https://archive.org/download/ftpsite_ftp.atari.com_2013_07 madi

When Attempting to Format a disk image under DOS 2.0/2.50 dos using Altirra's R/O or VRWSafe write modes, one should expect an error 173 (I think) but not the following: ERROR- 10K <- inverse letter K I know that it doesn't affect Altirra's performance. Just a note. Madi

How to get Spelunker ATR to start?
Madi replied to TheNameOfTheGame's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I don't have Side/Side2 devices. AFAIK, .ATX images are not supported by side cartridges. Try the attached ATR image. If it doesn't work, let me know, so I will fix one for you. madi Spelunker (1984)(Broderbund).zip -

SHIFT+RESET (usually F5) to cold start. Press OPTION key (F4) while holding the RESET key down and pressing Shift key together. Do not release SHIFT + OPTION keys until you see DOS menu or start of your program. (Key press mode = Raw Keys) madi

Hi russg Thank you fro your kind help. I am aware of the availability of Antic Magazine archive on the Internet. I already so your input and generous contribution to preserve such viable documents. This Link. Unfortunately, The Pirate bay (as a reservoir for the actual files) is gone. Even worse, It is, along with several pirate bay clones are censored (blocked) in my country. I found a different torrent "alive" links on different torrent sites. i.e. Here is an example link. In addition, Archive.org has a complete archive for Antic magazines that can be viewed online. Also, I can not forget the huge effort made by the people at AtariMagazines to provide a nice text based archive for Antic Magazine along a large number of different books and magazines. Atarimania.com should not be forgotten among the best resources for Atari related Magazines. On reality, storing >8 GB of data on a computer and refer to it occasionally is not the best practice for most readers. What I was looking for is that Disk(s) project where venom4728a was working on this interesting project where he was storing the magazines texts on Atari image Disk(s). Very handy and smart way of archiving especially if some sorting indexing was used. Unfortunately, The initial product of this project is no longer available on google drive. madi

Thank you flashjazzcat for your prompt input. What you have illustrated is very true. The whole thing emerges as a result of the fact that virtual folder R/W access is only available under SpartaDOS for RespeQt. I do understand that AtariDOSs come short against SparatDOS when it come to features and complexity. As a normal user, I would love to have the PCLink feature migrated to Atari compatible DOSs, Of course I know that we have to Waite for someone with skilled programming knowledge to make it. This is the reason of why was carious to import the virtual folder R/W access of PCLink to AtariDOS. I will send you shortly PM of more info. Thank you again for you usual kind support. madi

drac030 had already clarified the differences between the PCLink and the traditional Folder approach. As a summery, Atari DOS and compatibles "so far", can access images (R/W) inside PC folders with some success (might be clumsy, but works). On the other side, SpartaDos has difficulties access PC folders in AtariDOS FS way. Even more, accessing only 64/folder limits some of its strengths. As a casual user to SpartaDOS (because it is too complex and advanced for me), I have a feeling that RespeQt is (unintentionally) being gradually drifted towards SpartaDOS. The not so good is that users of Atari DOS/MyDOS and a like might find themselves "forced" to use SpartaDOS in order to enjoy the great PCLINK features or resort to the the traditional AspeQt (or Ray's AspeQt 1.01 which can handle folder R/W using AtariDOS as outlined by drac030). Is is possible to modify PCLINK so that RespeQt is able to work with Atari DOSs ? I am sure people like me who likes Menu driven Doses and simple command will enjoy this nice product. madi

Very interesting. The file is no longer in GoogleDrive. I am carious to know if there is a final product of this project. madi
