- Workaround for Intel graphics driver bug causing XEP-80 rendering issues in D3D 11 mode. Direct3D 11 constant buffer updating is such a mess....
Fixed .. Thanx
I didn't notice that you mentioned Copy Frame to Clipboard... that's always copying the ANTIC/GTIA output. That I can fix. [entry #53]Not fixed.
Thank you phaeron
In our Atari community, there are quiet few people that share their time, efforts and own money without bountiful attitudes to keep our beloved Atari alive.
Yet, there are really fewer people that have the vision of preserving Atari even after all of its hardware equipment are either turned into dust or only found in Museums.
They work very hard so future generations will be able to enjoy yesterday's technology. They seek eternity for Atari.
I believe you are one of really few.

Hi folks, could someone who has their machine set up as a UK machine with the UK keyboard and UK date format etc please try the last update of Atari Archiv, the one that incorporates my idea for tagging a screen shot on.
.
.
Thanks
Paul..
Hi Mclaneinc
I installed the English - UK as the sole language pack to investigate the difficulties you had experienced with Atari-Archiv 1.3.
I couldn't reproduce the said errors you faced. However, the program crashes if INI file is missing.
With version 1.4, the program opens the database and run normally under the situation where INI file is missing. But it will generate an error upon exiting due to missing INI file that needed to store data.
Sorry, for not being able to give much help.

My goal in these cracks was to preserve as much of the original data as possible. I wanted it to boot just like a genuine disk with the EA loading screen and all the checks. As proud as I am about doing this,
You have accomplished an important goal that made you proud of it.
That is what counts

Hi AtariGeezer
I was experementing with the "Scan ATR Files" feature of the ATR Tools.
I noticed that "ATR Search Results" always terminate with an error. The error occurs on random basis.
The fatal error may take place after few search cycles only.
I suspect that whenever ATR Tools starts searching in a new folder (I am not sure) by pressing "Start Search", a little annoying windows popups "fread Result".
Eventually, the program terminates.
See picture:

Thank you Stephen
Although, it did not come as our wishes, still we didn't expect something out of the ordinary.
For me (and guess for others as well), it is another proof that you always try your best to be available for Atari community.
Helping others is a blessing.

The WayBackMachine has a snapshot of Atari.com a week or so before the archive, and based on what I'm seeing, my best guess is that the contents of the 26gb zipfile is a collection of demos of the then-current offerings-- and not anything 8-bit necessarily.

--Tim
Thank you Timothy Kline for your offer to download the FTP/ZIP file and to look at.
I think that what you are reffing to is a WWW.ATARI.COM
AFAIK, the FTP is a file server and not GUI based site. (file transfer only).
Therefore, the contents may differ.

According to Archive.org:
FTP site capture of FTP.ATARI.COM upon news of bankruptcy and sale of this iteration of the company. Includes demos, patches, and information files. Downloaded using WGET on July 16, 2013..
I was tempted to download this huge FTP site and see what is hidden inside.
Unfortunately, the FTP size is beyond my internet connection speed (26.3G)

Did any one have a look at it before?

When Attempting to Format a disk image under DOS 2.0/2.50 dos using Altirra's R/O or VRWSafe write modes, one should expect an error 173 (I think) but not the following:
ERROR- 10K <- inverse letter KI know that it doesn't affect Altirra's performance. Just a note.Madi-

I don't have Side/Side2 devices.
AFAIK, .ATX images are not supported by side cartridges.
Try the attached ATR image. If it doesn't work, let me know, so I will fix one for you.

Here is a working copy of Graphics Transformer by Alpha Systems 1986.
For info, AFAIK, the only available copy of this software on the net is at pigwa.net, , Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

Hi russgAll 88 Antics have been made into PDF files and available as an 8 gig torrent. 8 gigs takes hours to download.
So, in GOOGLE, type 'antic magazine torrent'.
Then pick the pirate bay choice. Then just download the torrent.
Once you have the torrent, you can read any issue of Antic you want.
There are warnings about exploits of your computer, 'get a VPN (whatever that is)' . Don't worry,
Just click 'get this torrent' and off you go for hours of downloading.
I guess you need a torrent client.
It may be a little complicated, but getting the Antic torrents, I think DISK1 to DISK4, off you go.
Thank you fro your kind help.
I am aware of the availability of Antic Magazine archive on the Internet.
I already so your input and generous contribution to preserve such viable documents. This Link.
Unfortunately, The Pirate bay (as a reservoir for the actual files) is gone. Even worse, It is, along with several pirate bay clones are censored (blocked) in my country.
I found a different torrent "alive" links on different torrent sites. i.e. Here is an example link.
In addition, Archive.org has a complete archive for Antic magazines that can be viewed online.
Also, I can not forget the huge effort made by the people at AtariMagazines to provide a nice text based archive for Antic Magazine along a large number of different books and magazines.
Atarimania.com should not be forgotten among the best resources for Atari related Magazines.
On reality, storing >8 GB of data on a computer and refer to it occasionally is not the best practice for most readers.
What I was looking for is that Disk(s) project where venom4728a was working on this interesting project where he was storing the magazines texts on Atari image Disk(s).
Very handy and smart way of archiving especially if some sorting indexing was used.
Unfortunately, The initial product of this project is no longer available on google drive.

It's not really a question of drifting towards SpartaDOS. The fact is PCLINK originated on SDX and works well there because the highly modular kernel design allows FMS calls to be mapped to PCLINK functions pretty much 1:1, using a formal protocol in which there is no ambiguity (i.e. no need for the server to make best guesses about the purpose of a sector write originating from the client). As a SpartaDOS X user, I find RespeQt's PCLINK functionality to be superior to AspeQt's promised SDFS virtual drive read/write (or even read-only) support, not least because the PCLINK implementation actually exists.
Regarding AspeQt virtual folder writing and ATARIDOS.SYS: I understood this was still impossible owing to the unexpected order of written sectors. Where is it written that this problem has been solved?
Thank you flashjazzcat for your prompt input.
What you have illustrated is very true. The whole thing emerges as a result of the fact that virtual folder R/W access is only available under SpartaDOS for RespeQt.
I do understand that AtariDOSs come short against SparatDOS when it come to features and complexity. As a normal user, I would love to have the PCLink feature migrated to Atari compatible DOSs, Of course I know that we have to Waite for someone with skilled programming knowledge to make it.
Regarding AspeQt virtual folder writing and ATARIDOS.SYS: I understood this was still impossible owing to the unexpected order of written sectors. Where is it written that this problem has been solved? This is the reason of why was carious to import the virtual folder R/W access of PCLink to AtariDOS.
I will send you shortly PM of more info.
Thank you again for you usual kind support.

drac030 had already clarified the differences between the PCLink and the traditional Folder approach.
As a summery, Atari DOS and compatibles "so far", can access images (R/W) inside PC folders with some success (might be clumsy, but works).
On the other side, SpartaDos has difficulties access PC folders in AtariDOS FS way. Even more, accessing only 64/folder limits some of its strengths.
As a casual user to SpartaDOS (because it is too complex and advanced for me), I have a feeling that RespeQt is (unintentionally) being gradually drifted towards SpartaDOS. The not so good is that users of Atari DOS/MyDOS and a like might find themselves "forced" to use SpartaDOS in order to enjoy the great PCLINK features or resort to the the traditional AspeQt (or Ray's AspeQt 1.01 which can handle folder R/W using AtariDOS as outlined by drac030).
Is is possible to modify PCLINK so that RespeQt is able to work with Atari DOSs ?
I am sure people like me who likes Menu driven Doses and simple command will enjoy this nice product.

Very interesting.
The file is no longer in GoogleDrive.
I am carious to know if there is a final product of this project.

In the process of deleting Altirra.INI, making new empty INI one and importing the 2.8 INI, I did it...
Result was.. Booooooom.. Windows fatal Error,
For sure I did some thing wrong ( Altirra had nothing to do with it). I believe it was the FileTypes.exe which I used to change icon association
I had to recover from a previous restore point.

Note:
I am sorry,
Thank you FJC,. You are right. I was testing the device removal under test 2 (see posted picture).
2.90 test 4 is O.K.
I made a mess out of it. Now I have to clean it up . My windows 10 is not stable right now.

The picture shows all the devices in Altirra 2.90 test x that can't be removed individually. "Remove" button is dimmed.
For info, these devices can be removed individually in Altirra 2.80 (test 50).
A minor issue: "Remove All" button is not dimmed when there are no devices.
Applicable to releases 2.8 and 2.9

Atari 800XL Time Capsule: Rambo XL

I was a member of MAAUG too.
I was in the soldering workshop some evening of year 1984 (don't recall details due to age). I had a memory upgrade for my 2 Atari 800XL computers (256 and 512K).
I had no experience of soldering at all at that time. What I remember is that the workshop continued until late night. Unfortunately, I lost the name of the participates and all my Atari related hardware and (most software).
You brought good memories although might be barely remembered.
