In the process of deleting Altirra.INI, making new empty INI one and importing the 2.8 INI, I did it... Result was.. Booooooom.. Windows fatal Error, For sure I did some thing wrong ( Altirra had nothing to do with it). I believe it was the FileTypes.exe which I used to change icon association I had to recover from a previous restore point. --------------------- Note: I am sorry, Thank you FJC,. You are right. I was testing the device removal under test 2 (see posted picture). 2.90 test 4 is O.K. I made a mess out of it. Now I have to clean it up . My windows 10 is not stable right now. madi

The picture shows all the devices in Altirra 2.90 test x that can't be removed individually. "Remove" button is dimmed. For info, these devices can be removed individually in Altirra 2.80 (test 50). A minor issue: "Remove All" button is not dimmed when there are no devices. Applicable to releases 2.8 and 2.9 madi

Test result Summery: The XEP80 view - sharp bicubic issue is caused by Direct3D 11 option: Tools -> Options -> Display -> Direct3D 11 Unchecked the Direct3D 11 option, reverts sharp bicubic display to normal Another way to get rid of the glitch is to use "NVIDIA GeForce 710M" video card as the default display for Altirra: XEP80 view + sharp bicubic + Direct3D 11, display is normal when NVIDIA GeForce 710M is selected. The glitch will occur if: - Intel® HD Graphics 4600 is selected "AND" Direct3D 11 is checked. In other words: Display will become normal under XEP80 view - sharp bicubic when Direct3D 11 unchecked, or NVIDIA GeForce 710M display card is selected. System property: Model Name Satellite C50-A428 OS Version Microsoft Windows 10 Home Single Language 10.0.10586 BIOS Version 1.40 CPU Intel® Core i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz Physical Memory 12288MB RAM Video NVIDIA GeForce 710M Version=10.18.13.5906 Intel® HD Graphics 4600 Version=20.19.15.4474 Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Pixels Color Quality True Color (32 Bit) XEP80 view + sharp bicubic + Direct3D 11, display is normal when NVIDIA GeForce 710M is selected. However, the glitch persists if Intel® HD Graphics 4600 was selected. ------------------------------------------ Tested several versions of Altirra from 2.9 down to 2.5 (result = empty clipboard) Windows 10 (x64) - Windows XP (SP3) 2 different laptops (result = empty clipboard) Altirra.exe/Altirra64 were tested in all testing setups. Sorry for misunderstanding. I did not think of designing new icons. I was referring to the free icon libraries available on the net. I am currently, using "Types.exe" do customize/add new icons to Altirra. But it does harm more than good. madi

AtariWriter 80 Ultimate 80-column word processing for 8-bit Review by Matthew Ratcliff When editing, the [bREAK] key forces a screen redraw, at which time AtariWriter 80 reformats the screen nicely. But while inserting text, the display is not always updated correctly. Break key seems to fix it. Full review: http://www.atarimagazines.com/v8n7/AtariWriter80.html madi

phaeron : Using AtariWriter 80 under Altirra (XEP80 View) Pictures are self explanatory: Normal: Glitched: Filter Mode -> Sharp Bilinear Also, "Copy Frame to Clipboard" doesn't work (empty clipboard) when XEP80 View is enabled. Request: May you add more icons to Altirra?. This will allow the users (especially elderly and sight impaired) to choose the file type association based on categories. Currently, I have difficulties to differentiate between ATR and ATX file extensions based on texts. madi

Same thing here. Inserting a word, causes the adjacent words (to the right) to move to the next line. madi

SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual USB v3.3 for ATARI 8bit XL/XE (Combo device)
Madi replied to Spanner's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
@FJC This is one of the few posts here in Atarigae, where I literary got lost. I mean the "heavy" words you choose to makeup the sentences with. Even uncle Google translator did not help me much. Sure, I got the general idea, but missed the wording. Although, I believe that the alternative design for the SIO plug is safe, I have to agree with Kyel22's words "The SIO plug is The Right Way". May be because of age factors? madi -
More Arabic-Enabled Atari Games from aDawliah
Madi replied to atari65xenajm's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi atari65xenajm and welcome to the Atari community (Atariage). Actually, I lost almost all my Atari software/Hardware way back in a day. Only two Disk boxes survived the trash. Out of those 2 boxes, I posted all the Arabic related stuff I have in this Link, If you have any Arabic programs/Info, please share it with us. وأهلا بك وألف مرحبا أستاذي الكريم madi -
ABC Najm This is an educational game intended to teach children the English letters and some common objects and animals in a simple methods. The corresponded meaning of the letter or object/animal is translated into Arabic. The Game has a fair Memory Game in 2 levels. One thing I really could not tolerate which is the awful sound and music. Really bad. Here are some of selected picture for ABC NUJM game: NAJM Letters This educational game Is intended to introduce Arabic letters, objects and animal to children in a simple forms. It is very similar to the English version, except that it is totally in Arabic. Again, I couldn't tolerate the bad sounds and Music. Note: the 2 games are attached. madi Najm_ABC.XEX Najm_Alhija.XEX

SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual USB v3.3 for ATARI 8bit XL/XE (Combo device)
Madi replied to Spanner's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Since I used one of the SIO2PC/10502PC devices, Atari8Warez makes, I knew that he fully tests his product before he releases them. Also, I liked his after sale support. I was supersized when he released his latest SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual device based on an alternative plug. I was worried about the overlapping/bridging of copper traces with connector pins in case of unintentional flipping of the device plug. I contacted Ray and asked him to clarify the subject. He send me this photo (I had to clean it a little). Based on the picture, I believe he clearly succeeded avoiding pin crossing problem. Therefore, at least for me, my worries are over. madi -
Most of the copying programs, do not alter the cartridge binary contents. However some of these copiers will add an extra 6 bytes as a loading header to the cartridge copy (game/program). Most copied cartridges will crash due to protection codes when loaded. Although, there are many ways to make a cartridge copy works, the best way is to remove the first 6 bytes (if they were added by the copying program) and rename the file extension to .ROM. Use Altirra emulator to load and execute it. This way, the cartridge code will be preserved (intact). madi

From Mapping the Atari, Chapter 17: "DOS 2.5 supports drives 1-8, but is initialized to drives 1, 2, and 8, so if you have other drives, change location 1802 ($70A); that is, if you have three drives and the RAMdisk, POKE 1802, 135. All bits in location 1802 now represent possible drives." Binary (10000111) for 4 drives and Ramdisk= 143 ($8F) (10001111) See this topic madi

1- Bruce Lee _ US Gold.CAS Lodas and run on my NTSC - 800XL using SIO2PC under AspeQt. I also, ran it successfully on Altirra emulator (PAL and NTSC). 2- Bounty Bob Strikes Back! _ US Gold.cas Crashes during loading on my NTSC- 800XL and on Altirra (NTSC). However it run fine on Altirra (PAL). It looks as if this CAS version of the game uses some type of PAL detection code. Which means it will crash when it is loaded on NTSC Atari computers. Look here for more info: madi

SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual USB v3.3 for ATARI 8bit XL/XE (Combo device)

lol I think you could insert the device plug partially (just the front tip) and see the arraignment of the connector pins and the copper tracers (take a photo) madi -
Tried to copy from disk International Karate but didn't work..?
Madi replied to Spanner's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
International Karate original game disk is protected. Atarimax ProSystem will not copy all protections. That is the reason where software is trying to read from sector 629 and goes back to 631 indefinitely. Here is a copy of the game that is not protected madi -
SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual USB v3.3 for ATARI 8bit XL/XE (Combo device)
Madi replied to Spanner's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
The down and Up directions were corrected. I posted the pictures just to show an alternative possibility for making an SIO plug. The following picture of an eagle board drowsing shows the correct layout (The plug board drowning is attached). It is obvious that bridging will occur if the plug is flipped unintentionally. But this is not the way Ray had followed in his design. Actually, he used copper traces with much less width. Therefore, may be he avoided the overlapping/bridging in case if his plug was flipped. Not sure. I am waiting for Spanner to confirm the possibility of pin overlapping when plugged is being flipped (for Ray device). madi SIOPlugAlternativo.rar -
Nice and simple. Sure will help many folks Thanks madi

SIO2PC/10502PC-Dual USB v3.3 for ATARI 8bit XL/XE (Combo device)
Madi replied to Spanner's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Gratz. may I ask you to flip the device and try to insert it into Atari SIO connector?. Of course, the the power to Atari or the peripheral should be unplugged first. It would be interesting to have some info with regards to pin interlacing/bridging. see the overlapping possibility depending on the width of the copper traces and how tight inserting the device plug inside the SIO connector. madi -
