Dark Fortress: a NEW (old) game for the Atari ST
tjlazer replied to Kirkman's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Very cool thanks! Downloaded it and will give it a go on my ST. -
Get some Naval Jelly or other rust remover and clean that up first.
-
The only option would be an Emulator. But you would need a 68030 to be able to play them at full speed. the 8Mhz would not be fast enough.

The cheapest is to get a SCSI2SD 5.1 since real HD's are going for over $100. I have one in mine and it works ok. I use it with a 1GB SD card. Was a pain to get the HD DRIVER software working but it will work with some tweaking. HD DRIVER and AHDI work, as well as one from ParanoidLittleMan's.

Need keyboard for Mega STe, what can I use?
tjlazer replied to Randy's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
You missed out on all the keyboards being sold on eBay a few months ago! For around $100, in good/mint shape too. -
No Corona Virus time off progress on Bruce Lee II?

Yep sadly the prices have been creeping up over the years to insane prices. And people are perpetuating it and continuing it. Rich idiots will buy a few at these insane prices and people will do price checks and list it at a high price too, and the vicious cycle contines. What I find funny are the filthy, dirty and untested ones still being sold for insane prices! #idiocracy

Your TV has to support PAL. Most if not all US TV’s don’t. Best option would be to get a special ST to VGA cable and a LCD that can do 15khz like the NEC 1970vx. It will do pal or ntsc in color. The original Atari SC1224 does too if you can find one.

Can my Atari ST be converted to an STE?
tjlazer replied to cbmeeks's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
You a Commodore guy? It would be like saying can I convert my Amiga 500 to a 1200. -
Very nicely done but why does it feel so wrong that there’s no Atari 800 version of this yet?

Better for gaming 1040ST or 1040STE
tjlazer replied to Randy's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
One thing that could be an issue is the 1040STf doesn't have a RF Modulator. While that is not a big deal today, the issue is the extra circuitry is missing if you wanted to hook up to a modern LCD with a Scart or Composite video input. So get a 1040STFM or 1040STE for sure. Unless you are sticking to a RGB monitor then the 1040STf is fine. (you could also add the extra components to the MB) -
You could get a super video cable and try it on the LCD if it has super video. Thr chroma and Luma should improve the image.

My Odyssey with the Mega ST & the dreaded bombs
tjlazer replied to olfad's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
See about getting a hold of the Atari diagnostic cartridge for the mega ST. -
$12 for 10 chips is a very good price. It's usually 2-3 times that price.

Standard PC power connector works since it has a built in power supply. For a video cable to connect to VGA you can find them on eBay or head over to Best Electronics for this super nice mono/color cable that is very high quality. But you will need a 15KHz LCD to make it work in COLOR Mode. Mono works on any LCD monitor.

Need a crack, or rip-apart(?) of an ATR
tjlazer replied to TheRaven81's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Never said it was. (had to clarify my comment. Edited and fixed for your approval) I found games in the BASIC format that work straight from the author himself and the magazines. There is a download option there too. -
If you need a monitor for Color you can try to get the NEX 1970vx and get a VGA cable from Best Elec.

But why can't I simply just load it? See my pic. -

Been playing around with these BASIC games. Saved them to a DOS 2.0 and 2.5 disk and tried to run them on my Emulator. They don't work or crash. What's going on? I get an error 21 when I try to load them and run them. Tried the ENTER command and that is when it crashed the Emulator. Atari 800XL settings is what I used. Normal ATR works fine.
