  1. Damn sorry to hear. I did the same thing on mine and removed the Dallas chip and installed socket and everything thankfully went well. Sounds like you did everything right. Did you maybe flex the motherboard? Like you said it could be a cold solder joint. Also maybe try to reseat the TOS chip or maybe get a replacement. Good luck, hope you get it working!
  2. So I have been trying the sun only method and it just doesn't work too well and takes several days or weeks of all day sun to give some improvement. But never back to original color. But with the addition of some 40 Volume Creme Conditioner and some hot sun, all it takes is a few hours! So, which is better for your 30+ year old vintage plastic case? 4 hours with some peroxide brushed on (NOT coverd in plastic wrap, or submerged in a container!), or 1-3 weeks of direct sunlight?
  3. I suspect it's the drive that is either dirty or bad. The caps can go bad as well. I have had a few original STF drives fail on me over the years. Problem is it's really hard to repair them or recap as the drive is really hard to take apart and put back together.
  4. They need to be properly split into 6 different files or it won't work. Here is a thread I started in 2006 when I went down the same path you are going down now!
  5. I have a cheap Chinese Willem burner and get chips on eBay. Works fine. You have to have the correct images to burn though. And there are tools on the ST that can help you split a TOS image into the 6 files.
  6. Lots of places, just do a search. Here is one I use. https://www.planetemu.net/machine/atari-st This thread might be of interest to you too. Has links to download ST disk images.
  7. Imagine the poor sole when he installs that minty fresh Atari 1200XL keyboard and NOT ONE KEY WORKS! Haha. Some can be brought back to life by hitting each key about 50 times each. Brought mine back from the deal after sitting for 10 years in the closet.
  8. Then you are screwed as that boxed Zaxxon will not work on your 800XL! Sell the computer and get a 800 then. It even says on the box it is for the Atari 400/800. Don't know what else to tell you. Don't know why you have to be rude, we were just trying to help you. No need to get all smart and edit your signature.
  9. I copied this to a disk and it works on my 800XL. My original Datasoft disk does not work on it. Zaxxon (1983)(Datasoft)(US)[a].atr
  10. Just have someone write you a disk of one that works from a Disk image. If you are in the US I can help you out.
  11. Descent Basic game! But a little too slow. Can it be compiled to make it run faster?
  12. I'd like to try this on two of my 1040STf's. Can someone list all the components and values so I don't make a mistake? And where is the best place to order these in the USA? Thanks!
  13. Go to Best Electronics and buy his VGA cable, does color and mono. (Around $50, yes pricey) Then get a LCD that can do 15KHz like the NEC 1970vx. That is what I have and it works well. http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/monadapt.htm
  14. So wait you cut off the LEDs on the Ultra Satan? Why not just leave them on? It's not visible when the cover is installed.
  15. So what is this issue with the sound and Jungle Hunt? I've never seen any problems with it since the mid 1980's when I use to play this game from my pirated disks, even tried these floating binaries and it seems fine.
  16. OK so I was able to write your 1GB image to a card and it seems to work well on my Mega STE! I can then pop card onto my PC and see the C drive. Just curious where the HD driver is on it? I don't see a file in there. Also this one has older version .9. How can I update it to newer version? Or don't bother? http://atari.8bitchip.info/DiskImgPP1.html
  17. Thanks for doing the NTSC fixes! Much appreciated!
  18. Thanks! Will give it a test on my NTSC system!
  19. How do you walk slow using the keyboard? Usually that’s done by holding shift down while moving the cursor keys.
  20. Here is my SCSI2SD 5.1 installed in my Mega STE! Been having issues with the driver software and corruption. But I think it might of been due to a bad connection on the SCSI host controller. Seems to be ok now. As a side note, I just tried to put Petari 1GB SCSI HD games demo image onto a 1GB SD card and it boots right up! Will need to do more testing. http://atari.8bitchip.info/DiskImgPP1.html Many thanks to his work on his game adaptions and fixes!
  21. As an option you can get a SCSI2SD board with a 1GB SD card. Kind of a pain to get it to work but it will. I used HDDRIVER, but I also dumped ParanoidLittleMan's 1GB disk image to a 1GB SD card and it seems to be working well too so far!
  22. Blown away! Tested it out with Atari800WinPlus4 and it runs great. Will have to write it to a disk and try it out on my NTSC 130XE, but I noticed the sound is not working right and fight scene flickers bad. Must be due to this not being the NTSC version. Amazing job, keep it up!
  23. You need a newer Hard Drive tool. It's a real pain to try to get it to work. Save yourself some headache and try HDDRVER V11. You can try the demo version out first.
