  1. ok I bought some PCB from this site and some 27C128 EPROMS, I tried to burn a 16k file, Kangaroo to it and popped it into the PCB and slammed it into my 800 and no joy. Anything I am missing here? What all binary files can I burn to EPROM? Only 16k? I have lots and most are anywhere from 1k to 64k or so, so I assume I can only use 8k or 18k with this? THanks
  2. You might want to contact Redmond Cable. I had them make me a custom Commodore 1084/Magnovox RGB80 cable for like $20. Worth every penny.
  3. OK I have discovered that I have several brown Atari 800 games (Qix, Basic, Star Raiders) that have two socketted chips inside! 24pin. Most are soldered. I assume these are 2732 4kb each? I was thinking of burning some binary game files to eproms and making my own cart. What kind of Eproms can I use? Can I use larger ones and just duplicate the code like on other systems to make it work? What if I want to use a 16k file? I am sure Nir would be the expert to ask...
  4. The reason the 1040STf does not have a RF Modulator is because this model came out right after the original 520ST, which also did not have a RF. After these initial models Atari came out with the 520STm (My first Atari ST in 1986) then the 1040STfm came out. Then at this time I think the 520STfm came out as well to appeal to the entry level user. (though my 520STfm has 1MB!) Atari kept updating models as time went on. I think the 1040STfm and 520STfm were more common in Europe than in the USA.
  5. Hey how did you get the color icons on the Falcon, is that built in or you need special program?
  6. They all have that problem right? Mine does.
  7. I recently paid $50 for a TT030 and 19" mono monitor. These are worth more than $100 easy especially in mint condition with a box.
  8. If anyone is interested I will consider all resonable offers for this! It works great and works perfectly on the Stacy. It is just sitting on a shelf and needs a new home!
  9. Complete Mega setup in descent shape in the US, probably $80 to $100 depending on condition. More if boxed. I think I paid $120 for my boxed Mega 2 setup. I also ended up getting a barebones Mega ST4 for $80, then got a german keyboard for $12 as the keyboard alone is very hard to find.
  10. Well it was some key combo that let you boot to the disk with out booting it, you can even leave a disk out of the drive first and it will ofcourse not boot the bootsector. But with 4MB that is plenty or RAM so I was confused what the out of memory error was anyhow, glad you got it working. With 4MB you are all set man! No need to disable ACCs. On the Falcon030 with 4MB you definately have to do that, and that is what I was doing to get games to work, holding down ALT or CTRL (cant remember 100%) then load the game directly. Worked good. I since then got a 14MB card, just have to install it now.
  11. That is awesome! But would be cooler if it had a cartridge port on it. Also the wood grain and metallic is a little much. Maybe a XE/ST gray look would be better!
  12. I think there is a better solution for you. Why not just leave them as is, and when you want to load a game or app that needs all your mem reboot while holding down ALT and that boots you right into TOS with HD Drivers loaded a hopefully a C: drive, then load the game and you are all set. If you need a D: or other drive then you will have to add the icon... But C: should be there right off.
  13. I have like 4 loose Pastfinders and one MIB. I paid $50 for the MIB one, and around $40 to $50 for the loose ones each (It came in lots of other very common ones and had placed a bid on two at the same time once at one point) LOL If you are looking for one I would be willing to sell it for what I paid.
  14. Yes Radio Shack has them, they work great I use them with my Amiga and Atari computers.
  15. Hey did Creepy Caverns ever come on a magazine as a type in program? I think I might of typed it in and played it around 20 years ago!!! Nice game...
  16. Do all the Stacy laptops have crap screens? I got one and the screen is barely visible. Were they better when they first came out? I take it they got worse over time? Any way of fixing them?
  17. I have tried several monitors and they all do the same thing. I will try to ground the floppy and see if that helps... Thanks for the inputs.
  18. Well for my Mega STE/TT030's I would rather use the keyboards they came with. It seems to be a ok keyboard. Though they don't get a lot of use.
  19. Whats the best emulator? I tried NoSTolgia 1.42 but it doesn't work too good (Can't use keys to play) and no USB joystick support!
  20. I got this 1040STf that when loading a program from disk, screen flips on every track read. Once machine warms up it goes away. Any ideas?
  21. Since you are in the US I can tell you, that you are better off getting a Atari 1040STf or maybe a Atari 520ST system. They are very common and cheap! A STE computer or a Mega ST will cost you a hundred or more easy, and the Mega STE around $300 or more! But a 520ST will be about $10 or so! Monitors are around $30 to $50. Just make sure you get a DSDD drive.
  22. No, the Samsung monitor is for the MegaST. It is the lowest quality, but best looking in appearance. The Goldstar monitors are nice and I personally think they look better on a MegaST. The JVC monitor is more for professional use. It has a longer picture tube and is the best quality of the three. The ET Head (Goldstar) monitor is the one that is usually seen in old Atari ST ads. When I got my first ST, back in 1985, it came with a Goldstar monitor and a single-sided disk drive. I think the JVC monitors were only available in Japan at the time. I could be wrong about this, but that is what I remember. 935614[/snapback] Oh ok so the ET Head must be some kind of prototype monitor then? I wonder if someone can dig up a picture of it. Kinda like the "boxy" Amiga 1080 and 1902 monitors, do you remember seeing them in old computer magazines?
  23. Yes the rare Mega ST's have the newer drives, and the comon ones have the large eject button. Here is a pic of my Mega ST2 with common eject button. This Mega has a internal ICD Micro SCSI controller with 810MB Quantum drive!
  24. Isn't the "ET Head" the one for the Mega ST series? If so it cannot be the first as the 520ST came out before the Mega ST
