  1. Pleasantly surprised by the caliber of some iOS games/ports. Remarkable how much you can do with an iPhone or an iPad.

      @yarjr: Indeed, still 95% shovelware.

@DeputyMoniker: Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Bastion, Faster Than Light, Battle for Wesnoth, Infinity Blade series (well, the majority like it), Asphalt 8, Rayman Fiesta Run, Deus Ex, N.O.V.A. series, Grand Theft Auto series, Monument Valley, The Room series, Final Fantasy series, Dragon Quest VIII, Machinarium, Limbo, and I'm personally a fan of some of the Angry Birds games... some ports, some original to mobile, but...

  2. It's 1:30AM and I can't sleep due to a skunk having essentially exploded outside my window.

  3. Awesome homebrew collection. I'm drooling.
  4. Gf left for the week for a chemistry conference. Guess I'll console myself with some Pitfall II and Solaris while waiting for my YurkieVision to arrive!

why not go play some good ol' mystique games, like Beat 'em and eat em, X-man, Gigolo, and Custer's Revenge??

I have none of those games I'm afraid. Pitfall II is great fun! Also reading Neil Gaiman's Sandman series of graphic novels.

  5. Wonderful, thank you. EDIT: Jesus those prices! You're right, I can afford about 5x the carts I was expecting from eBay.
  6. Wow, so many helpful responses, thanks! I'll revise my master list of releases I plan on picking up (over a long period of time, mind you) and start asking around in the Marketplace forums. I'll probably start off searching for Mouse Trap and Q*Bert.
  7. Hello, First off, sorry for how many threads I have made here as of late (this is what, my third one this week?!), so for that you have my apologies. This will be my last one for a while I'm quite sure. I have enough money for 1-2 ColecoVision loose carts (or CIB if they're cheap enough) for a few months. I'm wondering which of these games (that I plan on gathering all of eventually) has particularly high replayability: Burgertime Donkey Kong Jr. Fortune Builder Frenzy Jumpman Jr. Ladybug Mouse Trap Mr. Do! Mr. Do!'s Castle Ms. Space Fury Pepper II Spy Hunter Steamroller Tapper Tarzan Turbo Venture Zaxxon Galaxian Defender Q*Bert Centipede Frogger Spy Hunter H.E.R.O War Games River Raid Choplifter Granted, these are all arcade games, so I'm guessing their "replayability" is through the roof anyhow, but I'm curious if those more experienced than I have played any of these more than just about any other game. (Incidentally, are there any must-own titles that are egregiously missing from my list, in your opinion?) Thanks in advance!
  8. I wonder if the game's popularity will seriously suffer, or if it's a vocal minority that is leading the battle charge against Mojang. I understand that some massively popular servers will suffer though, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what will happen in the long term. The initial outcry seems to be slowly dying down.
  9. I bought this game back when it was in its early Alpha stages. Some friends and I had a riot for many weeks building cool shit into the wee hours of the morning. Then Minecraft and I lost touch until just now. Seems to be 100000% different than when I last played. Far more complicated, but really neat. I'm dumbfounded at how popular it has become; somehow the whole Minecraft YouTube scene has eluded me. Could Minecraft be this generation's DooM? Looks like it could be, judging from the popularity and mod capabilities.
  10. Thank you for the replies. I'll grab all of the overlays from that reproduction thread that I can afford and then begin cart hunting.
  11. I will be receiving a modded "YurkieVision" in the near future, and since my funds generally do not allow for complete games (just loose carts), I was wondering: how necessary are overlays for ColecoVision games? Are the games virtually unplayable without them? Or do overlays merely provide aesthetic appeal and quality of live improvement for playing certain games? I'm wondering if picking up loose carts and just reading scanned manuals online is enough, or if I should really be hunting for the overlays as well. Cheers!
  12. Sorry for the double post, but I would like to change my reservation to just one copy of Mario Bros., not both Mario Bros. and Lord of the Dungeon. Thanks!
  13. Thank you for the info! I'll be sure to check these forums daily for announcements and such.
  14. From what I have gathered it functions similarly to the upcoming Atari 7800 XM in that it allows for greater memory usage on the ColecoVision, and that specific games are being released for it that take advantage of it. It is absolutely something I am interested in picking up for the future, but I want to research the availability of titles for it before taking the plunge. Not to mention gather the funds, hehe.
  15. I am interested in Mario Bros and Lord of the Dungeon. AHHH! My first two ColecoVision homebrew purchases! *tingles with excitement*
  16. Thank you so much for the links; should I assume those are the final versions? I cannot wait to support the homebrew community with future releases and for re-releases of titles that I'll be downloading on ROM for now. I suppose I should place an order in the thread for a re-release of Mario Bros! Love that game. Hope some copies are still available...
  17. Thank you for the help. I think I will pick up an AtariMax SD Cart and then hope for re-releases of some CIB games that don't have ROMs. With my college part-time job income that's my best bet heh.
  18. Many ColecoVision homebrews look incredible. Unfortunately, I only just ordered a ColecoVision. Since I'm late to the party, if I want some of these earlier homebrews like Space Invaders/Pac-Man Collection, am I shit out of luck, since these games have very limited runs? For future releases, should I just keep a hawk eye on the forums here, to be sure I don't miss out? Thank you.
  19. Green tea, Simon & Garfunkel, and Solar Fox with the gf. A good way to spend a rainy evening :)

  20. Sorry to tag onto your topic, Cyrus649, but I figured I would post here instead of making a new thread. I have heard that Best Electronics is a reputable business for Atari products. Should I pick up their reconditioned Lynx II from there? Here's the link: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/lynx.htm#Hand%20Held Why is it cheaper than the Model I? It looks like it comes with three accessories, including a power adapter, yet it's only $79. Hmm.
