  1. I find myself in possession of some PSP games in my library that I got in a lot. Unfortunately I can't play them because, well, I don't have a PSP. Ys The Oath of Felghana Ys Seven Crimson Gem Saga Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade Brave Story New Traveler Knights in the Nightmare Disgaea 2 I've never had a PSP before. I guess I should be on the market for a 3000 since that was the last model (right?), but can anyone lay out the pros and cons of PSP gaming in 2020? What the best games are that aren't an absolute fortune, whether it's worth getting one now, if there are any necessary refurbishments I should be aware of? Do you still use your PSP? What do you like about it?
  2. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/compare In short: Xbox Series X is far more powerful and includes a disc drive. If you have a 4k TV, you'll want this. The Xbox Series S is less powerful and does not include a disc drive. If you don't have a 4k TV, don't care about discs, or don't care about being on the cutting edge at all, go for the Series S and save the $200. If you are planning on a PS5 already, I'd go for the Series S as a secondary console for Game Pass Ultimate, basically.
  3. I plug AtariAge whenever I see Atari threads pop up on gaming subreddits, FWIW. The more the merrier.
  4. Winter storm coming into the Northeast! Better get an extra round of Chopper Command in tonight in case the power goes...

@Atarian7 Only about half a foot, bu the last round of storms we had in the summer knocked the power out twice in two weeks since so many trees are near power lines. Some snow would make everything look way prettier, which I guess I'll take at this point in 2020 over a night of not being able to play Atari, lol.

We lost power for about 5 hours a few weeks ago when there wasn't any storm in the area.   This happened a couple of years ago too, but it was the middle of the night.

@Atarian7 Oh no! I'd be pretty annoyed if there wasn't any discernible reason for it.

  5. Maybe either of these will work for you?
  6. Hello AtariAge! I have the following for sale, or I would be willing to trade them/knock the price down for some Wii games I've listed at the bottom of my post. I have an Atari 2600 Jr. with a composite mod. It worked like a charm and is in BEAUTIFUL shape, but I upgraded to a 4-switch woodgrain with UAV and s-video. Therefore, I no longer need this console. CONSOLE ONLY. (I have no spare video cables and the power adapter went to someone else). $80 shipped CONUS. See pics below. I'd recommend playing this on a CRT over a modern flat-screen, obviously—my main reason for upgrading to the UAV mod with s-video through my upscaler was to play on my 4k TV, since I don't have room in my apartment for a CRT. I also have several PSP games for sale, mostly JRPGs. Pics below. Ys: Oath of Felghana (CIB): $96 Ys Seven (mostly sealed): $78 Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days (CIB): $28 Knight in the Nightmare (CIB): $28 Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade (CIB): $5 Brave Story New Traveler (CIB): $33 Crimson Gem Saga (sealed): $28 Feel free to post any questions in this thread. Also, please for the courtesy of others post here right after you PM me. "PM sent," "PM'd," "I sent Bixler a message that I'd categorize as a private one," etc. If you have any of the following Wii games CIB and in minty condition, I'd be happy to set up a trade and adjust the value accordingly: Ghost Squad ($12) Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles ($8) Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles ($10) Thanks! Have a good one.
  7. I would be INCREDIBLY, indescribably bummed if the new Metal Slug was an exclusive to their new console. Ugh.
  8. The MVSX released very recently, and SNK put out two mini-consoles not that long ago (the tiny cabinet and the Arcade Stick Pro). They were too pricey for my tastes, but I wonder what a "bridge" between "passionate fans" and "console gaming enthusiasts" (false dichotomy?) even means.
  9. Pitfall Harry, followed closely by a small square.
  10. Only ten days until Christmas—amazing how this month has flown by. Happy holidays to you and yours!

  11. I received a custom-made arcade stick from doubledown and it's absolutely gorgeous. Shipping was prompt, the package arrived safe and sound, and it came with a nice instruction manual! Fantastic seller.
  12. If you're referring to homebrews, keeping a tab on the ZeroPage Homebrew YouTube videos and the programming sub-forum here are worth doing: https://atariage.com/forums/forum/50-atari-2600-programming/ And the same goes for checking on this 2600 forum every so often, of course, and scanning the latest threads for any homebrew developments. Finally, checking the AA homepage for any big new batch of releases, like the one that just happened recently, is a good way to go. Those are my go-to ways for keeping up with the homebrew scene for the 2600.
  13. I've preferred the Switch Pro Controller whenever I've had the option, but the SN30 Pro+ is arguably the best third-party controller I've ever encountered. I haven't encountered a LOT, mind you, and my frame of reference is basically Mad Catz from the mid-2000s, but still. I think it's solid for the price tag.
  14. My UAV-modded 2600 arrived. S-video into my RetroTINK 2x-Pro is breathtaking. 😍 So, SO happy with this upgrade! Gonna be a fun, beautiful holiday of Atari.

  15. It's this kind of forward, outside-the-box thinking that should have been there in the earliest stages of R&D for the new console.
  16. Man, this brings me back to MY middle school days. We would get through whatever assignment we had to do and then would browse Miniclip, AddictingGames, ArmorGames, CrazyMonkeyGames, Kongregate, Nitrome, and other websites for our favorites. Some of those were Bowman 2, Thing-Thing Arena, Fancy Pants Adventure, N-Game, Heli Attack series, Desktop Tower Defense, Crush the Castle, Stickman RPG, and of course, the life-changing RuneScape (2). Played that for YEARS. never would have stumbled on it were it not for Miniclip. the end of an era.
  17. Just beat Bowser in Super Mario Odyssey. SMO has entered my personal top 10 ever, easily. Absolutely brilliant platformer, and this post-game content could keep me occupied for a couple of months. Wow!

Time to shift gears to an RPG for a change of pace, though: Ys VIII.

      Agreed, was an incredible experience

That game's theme song is on my list of all-time favorite Video Game songs.

I beat bowser the first time a couple years ago and reached the dark side of the moon a few weeks after that. I couldn't find enough powermoons to reach the darker side and I got sick of just wandering around so I just restarted the game. Finding all 999 is going to take 294792384798 years.

  18. Thanks! Yeah, that's alright. I don't have the time or space right now anyway. I told him to hold onto them for me all the same.
  19. I mentioned to my parents that I thought I had some old video games stored away at their place, and sure enough...! (My father took some pics and sent them to me). No system to play them on, alas. But this is exciting!
  20. Are there any good podcasts that focus on or at least heavily cover 2nd-gen gaming? I'm going to give The Atari 2600 Game by Game podcast a go—any others I should be aware of?

  21. Understood. Thanks for the replies.
