  1. Mind posting some pics of your setup while running a game? Curious to see what this looks like.
  2. That's some really helpful advice, thank you. My consoles that I want to hold onto (PS2, original Xbox, CMVS) will remain with my folks until they move out of their current house in a few years. I'm studying abroad for a year before (hopefully) pursuing a PhD, and once I've settled down for a number of years in a program I'll slowly ship my consoles to my residence, and also hopefully find a cheap CRT to hook them up to. The only console I'm sure I'll get rid of is the Dreamcast, since my girlfriend found her old one recently. I'll see if I can get any MVS or Xbox games for it, most likely...
  3. I'm afraid of that happening haha. I was going to go with OpenEmu on my Macbook Pro and run NES, SNES, and see if I can find a way to play Neo-Geo games (MAME seems to have some issues with OpenEmu). I'm in the process of getting rid of (most) of my systems anyway in favor of focusing on my 3DS, since I hardly have time for games anymore anyway.
  4. Real hardware when I'm at home with my folks, but now that I'm entering graduate school and I won't be with a CRT for quite some time... I may have to go the emulation route.
  5. 3DS screen protectors – yay or nay?

If you have a launch model, it's a must unless you put Xbox 360 feet to separate the two halves so the screens don't hit. If you have any other model, it's not necessary .. unless you treat your hardware poorly.

Use the protectors- mine have marks just from the different size screens bumping each other. I'm glad they're on there!

  6. What does "Metal Slug conversion" mean out of curiosity?
  7. WTF?! My girlfriend and I were considering picking up an Xbox One Scorpio when it came out... they're already working on the next iteration?!
  8. Here are a few ways of determining the rough value of what you have that I have found helpful over the years: Create an Advanced Search on eBay (upper right-hand corner of the homepage), type in what you're looking to sell – say, "Atari Game Center" – and check the box that says "Sold Listings" below before submitting your search. You should get a page that looks like this: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=atari+game+center&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=94960-1021&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50&LH_Complete=1 Search the AtariAge marketplace forum for what you want to sell, and see what others have sold it for within the last year or so. Check PriceCharting, which has oftentimes proved to be a helpful website for determining the rough value for video games. Looks like its value is somewhere between a few Starbucks Venti mochas and a very, VERY rundown moped from the late 1960s or early 70s.
  9. Wouldn't surprise me. At least we have physical releases of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World, Azure Striker Gunvolt Pack, Dragon Quest VII/VIII, two new Pokémon games, Ever Oasis, and SMT IV: Apocalypse coming! Lots of life left in the 3DS concerning new releases, even if Super Mario Maker looks like a mediocre production on the handheld. EDIT: At least, given how much time I have for games anymore, what I listed above would easily last me two years on its own, not counting my backlog.
  10. Yeah, same. The only other person I know who has a 3DS and uses it regularly is my girlfriend. Would've been nice to have far more online functionality. Oh well. Guess this'll go to the far back of the "to-buy" list.
  11. Hopelessly addicted to Metal Slug. The Anthology was a good purchase :)

The original PS2 version or the one for the PS4? The PS4 version looks like it is just s straight up port. Wondering if they fixed some of the slow down.

The original PS2 version. From what I heard the PS4 version is exactly the same as the PS2 version – no changes whatsoever. I realize there is a tiny bit of input lag but honestly I barely notice. Fun as hell!

i liked Jewel Quest II (PC), but nothing beats the holy trinity of puzzles: Tetris, Columns, and Bust-A-Move.

  13. Thanks Anthony! Can't wait to play. Yeah, I guess the input lag is unavoidable. Oh well! Still fun. -Bix
  14. Do these people have no shame whatsoever? Can you imagine a mother or father with their child who came to look for one or two (hopefully) cheap, fun, older games to play, and they get virtually chucked out of the way by greedy resellers looking to most likely barely make a living off of this crap? Leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm really glad that this kind of thing doesn't happen with comic books (from my experience, anyway). Makes me glad that I do all of my retro game shopping on private forums, game swapping marketplaces, and eBay. Good grief.
  15. Holy crap, didn't know that the Tamagotchi market was even a thing... haven't seen one of those in at least 10 years. GLWS!
  16. Any thoughts on the Mayflash arcade stick? Just looking for something cheap that functions well for casual arcade play for my PS2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015PHMFU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1ASNRAEDIC2KH

Never tried the Mayflash...My Favorite is the HORI Real Arcade Pro, but the HORI Fighting Stick is good too without spending a lot...

I may have spoke too soon...The sticks are Great, but I didn't see those Giant shipping fees when I glanced at it...(Sorry)

      You might check Ebay...

  17. I would say about $25 a month between video games and comic books. But I'm a poor student, so hopefully that number will rise over time.
  18. Hey guys – what are your thoughts on the SNK Classics Collection and Metal Slug Anthology for the PS2? I played the Metal Slug Anthology many years ago and recently purchased it again on eBay, seeing as I won't have an Omega CMVS for a while yet. I heard there's some input lag (which is to be expected, I guess, for any of these arcade compilations). Any of y'all have experience with these? Thanks!
  19. Just snagged a Metal Slug Anthology from eBay!

Yeah I'm really in love with my PS2 lately and Metal Slug in the arcade was one of my earliest video game memories! Does anyone know if you can use an arcade joystick with this? If so, what's the best one to get?

  22. Some of those rhythm games are heaps of fun. Especially Pop'N Music and Beatmania IIDX.
  23. The Isle Delfino theme always put me in a good mood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB1BwD7xmM0 I remember when it came out and so many people were decrying the Fludd mechanic as "gimmicky," but I always thought it was really fun.
  24. Junior or gtfo. Mine is gorgeous. GORGEOUS, I TELL YOU!
