  1. The description was lacking IMO. If it was my auction I would've stated the mother board was not included or parts only not a working computer. The way the keyboard was flipped over in the picture makes it appear its the mother board. Though if it were a complete computer I wouldn't expect to see it disassembled like that.

Just by the description you might assume the keyboard and the case have never been replaced and thus are the originals. Caveat emptor as always.

Well I would check the sellers feedback soon, expect a nice fat negative!! Hahaha. Some people, my god. Trying to save a few dollars and then get bitten in the arse. Serves them well. Lets face it people. Falcon's are expensive. If you want one expect to pay out the arse, don't try and nickel and dime your way on ebay for a deal. Another non working one went for over $200. I don't get it.

I sucked it up and paid over $700 for a new in box one, and a few years before that $325 for a used one that was mint. I paid my dues!! Hahahah Apparently it was a great investment.

  2. I bet this person thinks they are getting one heck of a steal on a Falcon030!!!!

I guess there is the slim chance the bidder really wants these parts and knows it is not a complete unit but it just amazes me how some people don't take the time to read auctions...

What do you all think? lol

-edit- For some reason the link feature is not working, maybe the ebay URL is too long?

  3. Who said anything about clear coat?

    I said base coat..

Why in the HELL would you clear it?

Sorry I must of mis-read it, I thought you said Clear Coat, you said Base Coat. MY BAD!

Yes I agree it would look bad, that is why I did not do it and it looks great (see my pic above)

I also tried a different shade, called Flat Light Aircraft Gray from Testors and it is too light. (looks like TT030 shade) Light Sea Gray seems to be pretty darn close. I also got a Flat Gull Gray can to try and see how it looks.

    This is fun!

  4. well...no RF...i even pulled it apart slightly and looked under all that steel shielding to see if there was one hiding somewhere behind the case. nada.. next i held it about 5" above the very short carpet on my porch, and let er' drop. no change. just for good measure i took it out to the garage and held it about 6" above the cement floor. again, let er' drop. really loud satisfying "electronics hitting concrete" noise, but still no change.

Also FYI, doing the "Drop" or "twist" are for noobs that cannot or will not open up the ST, it is a quick and dirty "temp" fix. Since you opened up the ST, all you had to do is reseat all the socketted chips! No need to do the drop if you open it up man! LOL

  5. They need competition. It's very easy to treat your customers like crap when you're the only game in town (just ask your local cable monopoly!), but when you're competing against a number of other businesses, you're forced to show them some respect.

Maybe Steve Tucker (Atarimax) needs to fill this gap? :)

  6. I haven't really had enough time to sit down with the classic stuff and put some milage on it since I arrived at the new house.

But along those lines, was a final .rom of Adventure 2 ever released? I'd rather keep my cart safe in plastic wrap and the original box and play a rom image from my 128-in-1 cart. A link would be appreciated.

Are you guys going to make me desolder the PROM to make a copy of it so I can finally play the damn game on my PC via Emulation? My 5200 is down at the moment and I have had this game for several months collecting dust!!

    AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  7. Yep if you hover the mouse over the link or when you press it and get to the page where it is asking for your login info, check the URL. That's how you know if it is a hi jack attempt or not. Not sure if you know what this is, but it is a hi jack attempt to get your user ID and password. The scammer will then start listing high ticket items under your account for too good to be true priced items. Then he will email the buyers to have them pay for those items directly to him. Then when the buyers never get their items guess who they will contact and open claims with? Be careful people!

  8. I am getting a tricked out 1200XL from Atarimax soon! I wanna add a PAL Antic, which one do I need and what else needs to be done? It will have the 32-in-1 OS in it. (B&C lists two Antics one for XL/XE and one for 800/old XL, is that what the 1200XL needs?)

  9. I am trying to resurect this Atari 1040ST I have. It worked but the video was really bad on a cold boot. Screen flipped and was unusable for about 10 minutes, then as it warmed up it got better but still was a bad video signal. I tried to get it working by reseating all chips etc and no go. I swapped all socketted chips and no go. I though, well I will just get another cheap system board! I did and both exibited a similar problem. On disk loading, each track load, or click from drive, would flip or jump the screen, but it was clear and crisp unlike original board. Also as unit warmed up from cold boot it would get less evident but still on disk loads the screen would flip or jump slightly. One thing I noticed is the drive standoffs were glued on the motherboard since the replacement boards did not have them on. The brass one was also glued on, does this need to be grounded to the board? ie no glue! I cannot see what the problem might be, I tried two different PS's.

  10. Wow. Thanks Atarian1. That is exactly what I need. Too bad Atari made their video output so propriatary so one had to use an Atari monitor.

Thanks, and also thanks to Paolo for his comments.

Actually Atari did not make video output propriatary, you could use a non Atari monitor if you wanted to, just had to use the correct plug. It was plain RGB. Commodore did the same thing but they did use a somewhat easier to find connector. (DB23 type)

  11. I have a Atari 520ST with boot ROMs still. This is the first release as it doesn't have a RF Modulator. But since it needs to load TOS into RAM it is useless. (Hardly any software loads as there is only about 256k free) I just have it for my collection! I have another 520STm with TOS 1.0 in ROM and it works fine and has a RF Mod installed.
