  1. Really awesome vhzc!! Love the two new bosses. The first new one took a bit to get the pattern. The second one was super fun to fight but was a lot easier. As per usual, the new levels were tons of fun! The new Greensleeves music is a nice touch.
  2. Very interested! Please put me on the list for purchasing a Concerto! Also very interested, please put me on the list for the Concertino! I've been playing more and more A7800 games on ZeroPage Homebrew and it would be EXTREMELY useful not having to play them on an emulator. Real hardware is much more fun! - James

  7. Perfect! I'll put my order in for two of them myself so we can finally play those rare games that don't work on a real system on the show. Yes, they would be perfect for paddle & track-ball games on a Raspberry Pi, great idea! UPDATE: Ordered! I actually ordered two of the model up from that one, the D9, so it can support a whole bunch more controllers (Coleco etc..) http://www.2600-daptor.com/2600-daptor D9.htm - James
  8. Thanks so much Thomas! We'll definitely give it another go on Sunday's show, it looks like a lot of fun and couldn't give it a proper go on the PC with the mouse. Which reminds me, I need to buy some 9-pin to USB adapters. Is this the best one to get? http://www.2600-daptor.com/2600-daptor.htm
  9. That's amazing!! You're the first to report in that they've got their shirt, looks great. 🙂 My shirt order is still sadly in 'Pending Shipment' status, but I do love my mugs! Thanks so much for the support and I'm so happy you've given the shirt the 'Thumbs Up'! - James
  10. I was thinking about that as a possibility as well this year since there are so many great WIP games! I'm a little worried about there not being any completed 7800 games yet six months in though! I'm sure at least a few of them will be done by the end of the year, even three would make for interesting enough voting.
  11. I've now done some preliminary animated graphics for the player, there's 9 distinct frames for now. There will be more variety as the game has more complexity but that will be it for the initial version. They're 8x8 and they don't look super great as individual graphics, especially in only one colour but I'm hoping they look a lot better in motion and will help identify what you're seeing. The whole loop for the 9 frames takes just under 1/2 second to display so it should give a nice illusion of movement.
  12. Oh wow, that's some great and unique label art! Thanks for posting that, I'll use that on the show instead of the one I cobbled together. 🙂 - James

  16. Started playing the new version and noticed you can grab and move around the +5 after you unload your jack. It'll turn into a MASSIVE jack for about a second and then go back to normal. Not sure if this is a new thing or was in other versions because I've never tried that before. - James
  17. That's got it! Sorry for causing you to lay awake thinking of code. 🙂
  18. Just found a bug I think, I was working on Puzzle #5 and didn't get it right. I pressed the button to stop drawing and start over and it said I got it right? Here's what it looked like. EDIT: This also resulted in a win state:
  19. Nice, puzzle #6 took about 5 tries before I got it, pretty good one. I was finally able to solve puzzle #4 earlier today (figured out 1-3 on the show). Puzzle #5 still eludes me but I'll keep at it. - James
  20. It's happening! I'm a couple of sessions into creating my first game for the Atari 2600. As revealed on the ZPH show it's a port and I'll be programming it in assembly. It's going to be a little slow going, sneaking in a couple of hours here and there each week where I can. The first iteration of the game will be VERY simple but should still be fun to play. It will only involve playfield, one player character and maybe the background if I can get that going as well so it shouldn't be taxing on the system or my programming skills. I already have a good start on the psuedocode and I'm using Darrell Spice Jr's collect tutorial as a learning template to help me get a handle on things. I've programmed simple things in assembly before (and a number of other things in other languages) but it's been a while. With all the great examples of code on the forums and elsewhere I think I'll be able to muddle my way through, at least at first. I won't hesitate to ask questions if I get stuck! I'll reveal what the game is when I've got this first iteration of it working. There won't be any enemies, so it's just you against the environment at first. Looking forward to all of this!
  21. Oooh nice! It's kind of a DIY artwork type of thing? The possibilities are endless!
  22. We definitely plan to be doing more of that in the future now that we've successfully had on John Champeau the other week for his Robotron: 2084 reveal. It was a lot of fun! I just have to figure out who to have on next to try it out again! Once we get it smoothly running a couple of times I can see it developing into something more regular, especially for debuts of new games.
