  1. ZeroPage Homebrew has just placed an order for an UnoCart (thanks MacRorie!!) and we will be debuting the very first (I believe) UnoCart exclusive game in an upcoming ZeroPage Twitch livestream!

This WIP game has not been publicly announced anywhere so stay tuned to our social media and our AtariAge forum thread for more details! :-) We're really looking forward to playing around with the UnoCart on the show!

  2. Definitely! "Best Technical Achievement" is a category under consideration as there have been some mind blowing audio/visual games coming out lately for the VCS!

Has the category of "Best Technical Achievement" for a specific platform been mentioned yet? I think that's an important one. There are some HB games on the 2600 that just don't seem physically possible, but they exist and it's amazing. I like this category idea because it will encourage talented devs to swing for the fences, to milk every bit of power out of our classic consoles, and be rewarded for their technical brilliance in the process.

  3. That might be a tad overwhelming with the sheer number of games that were released during that time but we'll take it into consideration!

Perhaps a "Best From 2005 - 2017" category to give shot to all the games released in the years that have past since the last awards? I figure that gives a fair shake to all those games which won't be included in the 2018 awards as well.

'Best label art' will probably fall under the 'best packaging' category so that we don't have to break it down too far into label, box, manual, etc. :-)

"Best label art" would also be a good category.

Yes, I agree, I think that this will also double as a catch up for some homebrews that people might have missed! Great time to try out some games that may have slipped by you! :-)

Nice Idea! Will be interesting to see a list as i missed most homebrews released in the first half of 2018.

  4. We don't want to be overloaded with too many categories but it's truly surprising how many games have been worked on or finished so far in 2018! We are definitely looking for more possible categories before we finalize and release the category list. Keep the suggestions coming for categories and games, we don't want to leave any out.

The list of games, hacks and demos released in 2018 is coming soon...

IMO we shouldn't create too many categories before we know how many people are participating. Else the result might become random.

  5. Thank you so much for holding the Stan Awards back in the day. We're really looking forward to honouring all the hard work that is put into these games, hacks and demos. :-)

YES! Finally someone has picked this up again and ran with it. I had SO much fun doing the old Stan Awards! Of course, back then the pool of nominees was MUCH smaller! Can't wait for this!

  6. Yes! We are planning to have a WIP category for the 'most anticipated WIP Atari 2600 game'. We don't want to miss out on all those games that are in progress. :-)

are these for finished releases only, or anything that comes out during the time period? Maybe a "Best/Most Intriguing WIP" category would be appropriate as well?

  7. A very good point! Arenafoot and I forget that the average person is not as geeky as we are about record keeping and release dates and such, hahah! We will post a list shortly so people will be able to take a look the 2018 titles (so far). :-)

A lot of people will not know about the exact release dates. Therefore I suggest that someone compiles a (hint) list of the games which can be voted for.

Over the past week, I ended up doing a lot of rework on the burger dropping code which spilled into reworking the level layout data structure which then spilled into the player/enemy movement code. The results:

    - Burger dropping appears to be completely functioning.

    - There are now 3 (three) levels included with the ability to rotate thru using the SELECT switch.

    - Enemies will appear to get stuck on occasion... this is part of a patch I added to prevent an infinite loop from occurring.

    Here is the updated version:

  14. Thanks for the update mobiusstriptech! I'm looking forward to buying a board kit from your new batch.

Right now I broadcast an all homebrew Twitch livestream show using an RGB Atari 2600 and I'm looking to get into showing off the latest Coleco homebrew as well, in the best quality possible of course! :-)

Just FYI, I am almost out of stock on these. I will be ordering more but making a few alterations to the board. The changes will not be require current owners to upgrade. They are mainly minor changes based on data I have compiled.

There also will not be a price change for the next revision. If anyone wants bare boards to build themselves, I do have a few bare boards of this current revision that I could sell without components.

  15. Hi grafixbmp, I haven't covered that one! We've played the Dark Chambers to Gauntlet hack but not the one made from Haunted House.

Do you have a link for that? My searching hasn't come up with a result.

IMHO Gauntlet is one of the best most thorough hacks of haunted houseive seen.you've probably already covered it though.

  16. Thanks to everybody out there for making today's livestream of ZeroPage Homebrew the most watched episode in the show's history!! (Yes, even more than the live unboxing of the Retron 77)

You rock, thank you so much for your continued enthusiasm and support for the show. It just keeps getting better and better because of all of you! 1f642.png

  18. I've been playing the game a little to check out the new version and was able to get perfect scores on the first three levels (full throttle, no stopping) but the fourth level is a hellscape of fast reflexes and memorization!! I'll get it eventually. When I first played level 1 I thought that the game was too easy, by level 3 I was changing my mind and by level 4 I was sure that the game was not too easy!

    Some suggestions:

    - Ability to press the button to take you back to the main menu when you die.

    - Have the main menu remember which race level you're on when you reset the game, otherwise you have to constantly select the level each time you retry.

    - Have the levels selectable (left/right) with the joystick on the main menu

Great stuff, looking forward to playing it on the livestream tomorrow!
