Journey To Xenos (4k) atari 2600
ZeroPage Homebrew replied to chavert's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Hi Nick! Interesting game using the PF for where you need to drop the bombs. I found that if you hold down the firebutton you can get to 99 points fairly quickly and if you hang back to the left of the screen you can avoid the laser shooting at you. You can rack up the score even faster if you know how to recognize binary patterns. Unfortunately the program doesn't have a stable scanline count as it jumps from 262 up to 263 lines every time you successfully bomb a target which can result in an unstable picture on some real world scenarios with physical hardware. -
Dragon's Descent - Roguelite/Action game
ZeroPage Homebrew replied to Revontuli's topic in batari Basic
You've got a pretty good writeup of the game in the top post but if there's anything additional you'd like me to mention about the game during the stream, just let me know! :-) We love trying out new games in progress and give feedback to the developer on how it plays! :-) -

Loved watching the video, thanks for posting it bluswimmer! It's rare to see Atari 2600 developers posting commentary videos of themselves playing their own games and it was also great to hear you go into your history of programming VCS games. It was interesting to hear the development process of the game and things you still want to change even after the cartridge had already been released. :-)

But... but... I have two more holiday episodes to fill! Hurry hurry! :-) If you get a newer version done before my next scheduled episode on the 19th can I show it then, pretty please?

Heya Thomas and Dionoid! We're definitely going to try for earlier shows every time we can. We usually have every second Friday be an early show with Darcy but he's been busy this month. Aerlan's schedule will be changing in the new year so I'll try to work with that to make our Wednesday day show an early one because I know we have a lot of viewers in Europe that aren't able to see our later shows. Stay tuned!! :-) -
I have an HD60S + Framemeister and the audio with the Retron 77 has definitely been giving me trouble each time I power it on (reset to menu is fine). I haven't narrowed down completely what is causing the audio issue yet but unplugging and plugging back in the power (USB cable) to the HD60S has worked at least one of the times. If I figure out a reliable fix/workaround/cause I'll post it here. :-)

Thanks so much iesposta, and thanks for providing the inspiration via your post in the forums. It is definitely interesting that the 2600 port had such an impact that the name of the enemies in the game changed. I guess it makes sense when you compare the 350,000 cabinets sold to the 7,000,000 Atari 2600 carts that sold, that's a huge number! -

INTERVIEW WITH Albert Yarusso FROM AtariAge!!! ZeroPage Homebrew talks with AtariAge's Albert Yarusso at Portland Retro Gaming Expo about homebrew games, the homebrew community and the ins and outs of running the largest(?) homebrew distribution company in the world! Enjoy! -
The animation of the Aardvark walking and eating the ants is WAY better than the arcade. There are only two frames of animation during the walking sequence in the arcade Anteater and in Aardvark I count EIGHT! During the eating of a bug in the arcade there are ZERO frames and I count FIVE in Aardvark. Of course there are also the graphics behind the Aardvark of the mountains and sky as well. A lot of beautiful graphical work went into the port of this game!

2018 Homebrew Tournament - Juno First - Round 6
ZeroPage Homebrew replied to LidLikesIntellivision's topic in Atari 2600
Just finished playing Juno First on the ZeroPage Homebrew stream tonight! Here's our top scores: Cimmerian (James): 96600 Sicksweet (Tanya): 58350 -
99!!! Damn, has anyone done that? I would think at that point your eyes will start going buggy from playing so long. Thanks so much nanochess, it was a blast playing the Aardvark demo. Send me a message when the retail version is ready and we'll debut it on the show!! :-) It's really amazing what is possible now to share the enjoyment of gaming with such a wide audience! I'm so happy that the community has really embraced the show. It's a blast showing off all the amazing work coming from all the talented homebrew developers. Thanks so much groundtrooper for tuning in and being a regular watcher of the stream! I can definitely say now that Scramble is easier than Super Cobra as I was able to make it all the way through (once!). I reviewed the old video of me playing Super Cobra and I *almost* made it to the base, I was able to make it to level 10. :-) All that means is that I need to play it again to defeat it! https://youtu.be/Kbx0SMX6nJ0?t=2266

Complete it?? I'll definitely try! :-) Thanks for the extra info on the music and sound of Scramble iesposta!
