  1. The best two games I never play are Sea Battle and Swordfight, the two new ones that Intellivision just released. They require two players and my fiance just isn't interested. I wind up pathetically sititng in front of the TV moving both controllers just so I can play them

  2. I would have to say the high point was around the time of the original games, the picture and text label era so to speak. For me, back then the games had a sense of pride behind them, as if they worked really hard on making quality and addictive games. The label and box art I think also reflects this feeling. Kind of gave the Atari a feeling of elegance.

The four characters in the background are Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin. It's taken from a scene from the original Ralph Bakshi movie version of Lord of the Rings.

  4. Amazing...absolutely amazing. I remember as a kid looking at the Parker Brothers catalog and dreaming of getting to play The Lord of the Rings. It's almost like a dream right now, I can't believe it. Very, very cool find guys, one of my lifelong searches has ended.

Wow Rolenta, you and I actually had the same score! I just double checked and I actually had 5.97, not 5.94

Few minor differences. There are no Minesweepers, Minelayers, Troop Transports, or Aircraft Carriers. You can only send out one ship at a time for a total of four on the screen at once (none of the little groups of three like in the Intellivision version), battles consist of one on one ship battles. And last, the weapons are all the same strength, and each ship has a fixed amount of times it can be hit. All in all, it has the same feel of the Intellivision version, which I really loved to play

  7. Is it just me, or did Parker Brothers have a knack for screwing the people over. First, they promised totally kick-ass licenses they never came through on. Secondly, did you ever notice that every pic they showed was supposedly the Atari VCS screenshot? Yeah right!! I don't remember Q-bert and Popeye looking like that! And finally, they showed a completely different game from what they actually released for 007. In the catalog is a cool lookin' chase scene on a train. What'd we get instead? Some bizarro little car that flies and goes on water and shoots at diamonds. Damn you Parker Brothers...

Someone made the ROM image for Swordfight though, and Intellivision Productions is still making that one too.

  9. You know what else works? Rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Works like a dream, much better, actually, than the eraser method cuz I tried that too. Just wet the end of a Q-tip with alcohol, rub the contacts, and just watch all the crap come off!
