  1. I am sorry to hear that, while our contact was brief, my hat is always off to those who freely give of their time, to help their fellow travelers.
  2. If your out there, thanks again for the manuals you sent me in the early 90's. I've finally found time to open the tyvek mailer and start reading them.

    ColEM Help

I found a cpm disk: CP-M 2.2 & Assembler (1984) (Coleco) [a1].dsk I tried both dragging this disk on top of ColEm, assigning a disk number and opening the file at start, but all I get is a blue screen. I don't know much about the debugger but it doesn't look happy, can anyone give me any hints about how to get cpm to start? Is there a disk of dev tools, and I just don't know what they are called? Thanks!

    ColEM Help

Hi, Do you have the problems you have found listed some place?
  5. Yea. I was disassembling, but looking at source code to I think Parsec, different platform, different CPU. But I did come to understand, when writing assembler called for limited micro's - how much of the code is actually tables - sounds, graphics, where to place everything to start, sprites. Basically everything you can get away from computing becomes a table - even things that could have been calculated with say sin() - if you can do that in table - table it is. Thanks - and i look forward to learning from the centipede dis-assembly.

What is the best way, with ColEM to emulate the joystick part of a Coleco Vision Controller?

    ColEM Help

Thanks @Captain Cozmos worked like a charm. Now I'm on my way to exploring.
  8. fwiw - I vaguely remember an article by Charlie Good about a bug in the MemoProcessor that wouldn't allow saving or loading, of a file of x length. It's possible you have hit a big in the MemoProcessor app, and not one in the firmware.
  9. I've owned a Coleco Adam since the early 90's, but have never taken it out of the box. As kind of a trainer, I download ColEm - can someone give me a quick run down on how to get SmartBasic loaded up and running?
  10. @FALCOR4 Do you remember when you first discovered, you could over drive the pmos groms - and put in your own OS - without the needed for opening the console? To me, that had as much significance as the first cavemen that hit two rocks together and saw a spark! =0
  11. That was Digit Systems.
  12. Colin also wrote an article about the TI DSR. Best explanation I've read of Level 1,2 and 3 calls. Brilliant guy and great explainer!
  13. I still use 2600 joysticks with my TI. These look great:
  14. I felt cheated by Randy Holcomb in Computer Shopper in the late 80's. Month 1 - here are somethings to look at when building a 9995 accelerator for the 4a, next month we'll start building it. (can hardly wait until next month's issue!!!) Month 2 - Been busy, here is some short software reviews to hold you over, but next month well start on the accelerator. Month 3 - Nothing. Month 4 - A few more small software reviews, but next month, on to the accelerator. Month 5 - Yea, I don't have time for this crappy TI stuff, I have an Atari now, see you loser. Month 6 - Hello, I'm Barry Traver and will be writing the TI column here at Computer Shopper. Me - 😠
  15. I'm an original owner. To this day, I'm still amazed at what this program can do, it's got more magic then any other program. Thank you for creating it.
  16. The manual just says - manual by Craig Miller.
  17. >Why does this always sound like different working groups in the same company that don't really talk with each other or even understand what the others are doing ... I'm not sure if true with the pSystem, but TI farmed out a lot of development - especially to SMU - to Universities.
  18. Are these true statements? Signals the use of a ramdisk or hard disk for input or output and overrides the M option. These devices do not use the disk buffer space in high VDP RAM to store information on the file just opened so DISkASSEMBLER must use a different method of obtaining this information. Signals the use of a Myarc Floppy Disk Controller as the input or output device. Unfortunately, this controller does not follow the TI standard for placement of file information in VDP and/or scratch padRAM so DISkASSEMBLER must look elsewhere for it. Placing the M option in your default file instructs DISkASSEMBLER where to look for this information.
  19. Miller Graphics did excellent stuff. On my 2do list is re-read the docs for: Advanced Diagnostics, Disk Assembler, Explorer, Night Mission and Smart Programmers Guide to Sprites - all really top notch manual / programs.
  20. Tell ya what... Firing until you ship blew up would never EVER get by OSHA! 😃 Thanks for the thoughts on the line number sprite issue. Are you going to be having some speech?
  21. I like. I think it's much more visual appealing than Parsec. It's also easier to concentrate on the game play with out the laser making noise and stretching across the screen. Looking forward to it.

    OPA Gary!

Can an Admin change the Subject line to OPA Gary? The subject line was my reaction when the news first broke, and I don't believe appropriate now.
  23. Sooo much lost source code....
