the official Channel F thread!
siccoyote replied to atari2600land's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Thanks for the help, As far as coding experience I've done Pascal about 22 years ago I can't even tell what is and what isn't code. The idea I have in mind doesn't require quick drawing to the screen. -

Having a go at programming by editing other programs, But seems what I churn out isn't working. At the moment I am just trying to output to the screen 4 graphics which each are 7 tiles high and 3 tiles wide, based on 32 custom entered tiles. Looking at the source codes I'm not sure what I need to do this and what is un-needed. I've made my graphics in a paint program and converted them to 8x8 binary, but not sure what the minimum code would be to display them on the screen. -

As my brother said when he saw me mocking this up, I don't know anything about programming. But I was thinking, there's no Platform games on the Channel F Would something like this even be possible? (Added the text because when I've done mock-ups before people asked how I programmed it) -

Killer Heads of Lettuce (Channel F)
siccoyote replied to atari2600land's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Quite fun, interesting how the enemies change their patterns, would be nice if you could adjust your shot, so they move up or down when you twist the joystick, to help get the more wild enemies. -
Fun game, have to say though I prefer the version where he's not naked, even if it means it runs with a little bit of slow down.

I just finally got my hands on a Grandstand Channel F, a bit rough around the edges but not bad at £66 for a console missing one controller holder, one controller knob(not broken off, missing, might need to design and 3D print one), and 2 carts. Interested to hear about a possible flash cart, was thinking of getting an e5frog multicart, but a flash cart sounds more future proof. -
Intellivision Amico’s trademark changed to ‘abandoned’
siccoyote replied to rietveld's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I don't think anyone was afraid. Besides the fact Nintendo have done pretty well marketing wise. Who are Intellivision going to market it to? (in a parallel dimension where this is coming out) It's more expensive than a switch, has no games anyone has heard of or look appealing to play(except the fox game) and I don't need a third point. If it was going to be a $100 console you might have a point. Edit: Sorry didn't recognise sarcasm. do we not do the blue text thing here? -

I paid £1.49 for it on Steam in the Summer Sale, quite a fun game. Have to admit I probably would never have played it without the Amico. -
Unicorns season: Prince of Persia for the A8!
siccoyote replied to rensoup's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Damn this looks great, just got back into my Atari 8-Bit gaming checking new developments. This looks great I was just wondering if someone had done a port of prince of persia on the A8 as it's on most other platforms, but I'll have to add it to the pile of games I'll be ableto play when/if I become less scared/cheap about upgrading my 800XL. -

I've been away from this site for a while just got Justin's email here's a new Megalink https://mega.nz/file/Ix1GBLTK#bBuc2moWYSCxoOFH5GXAwGfnfOVUIQCcjKbZew6WGx0 Using it with the Genieous Emulator the latest version v1.0.4 doesn't seem to work but v1.0.3 does. Once you have extracted it and run it , just autostart the first cas file, then when it says about starting the tape do Attach CAS for the 2nd cas and it should just work. Then press F1 to run. -
How to remove yellowing from an old Atari case
siccoyote replied to mimo's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I thought the point was that you should have them out in the sun without an glass filtering the rays. At least if you aren't using any creams or bleach. I've been having some decent resutlts this past week leaving stuff outside The Commodore just joined the group today. -

The Big boy is joining in on the tanning. (I know I'll give him a wash later. He has been stuck in a box for 20 years.) Are they supposed to be the same colour? -
Ah I see, different picture but based on the same game... still prefer this box art Here's another Nightmare on Elm Street artwork, 42 colours nightmareonelmstreet.xex

Wonderboy WIP - Favorite Port of All time
siccoyote replied to Yaron Nir's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Any chance of a 128k Cart sized demo? (for those of us UNO users too cheap to get an 8Mbit cart?) Looks very nice. Remember Wonderboy in the Arcade but never really paid it much mind, was too busy playing Robocop or Enduro Racer or something. -

Oh I'm not evening it out they are all going white or they will dye. -
Just looked up my old email as I wonderede what happened to the other ataris I had. Turns out 7 years ago I sold 2 800XLs and 2 C16s and go about £10 each. But then they didn't have power supplies and were 'untested' If I only knew then what I know now. Also my working 800XL could do with a few new key switches.

Yeah the one with white keys and a yellowed space bar is after the sunbath. Here it is just now, rather than taking it apart just leaving the whole thing out. I mean it's not perfect the keys aren't quite back to their original colour but they are a definite improvement over the space bar. -

The difference in in colour of the case is just because I took the first pic in natural sunlight the later picture under warm LED lighting, I only put the keys outside, the rest of the keyboard and space bar stayed inside. Doesn't seem discoloured to me. -

well been out for another day and a half. so Four days outside total. Pretty satisfied with it. might just leave the whole keyboard outside tomorrow to work a bit more on it's reverse tan. It certainly works though.
