PLEASE HELP ME

[Can anyone help me modify my atari to use it on my TV??]

I bougth an atari 2600 with 1 joystick 1 game (E.T.) , the original ac adaptor and the rca cable. All that for 2 bucks at the salvation army. I tried to modify it as described on this site (I'm not sure I did it the right way) but only the sound works 100%, the video looks like when you're watching pay tv without paying. By the way I aint no expert in electronics so write clearly. Please make my two bucks worth it! Thanx
