Perhaps you have a missing path or even permissions as modern Windows can be picky if a program is installed with different permissions than your user has? As well, are you opening a command prompt that remains open, or a batch file that just briefly opens and then closes when the program exits? You might be interested in the SDK once created by DZ Jay, it comes with a custom command prompt and more.
