  1. The M.A.S.H. finale turned 40 yesterday, what also turned 40 was GCC's impressive port of Ms. Pac-Man for the 2600.

  2. If a game only had difficulty switch options & not game select options, would you still buy a hypothetical physical copy?

    1. DragonGrafx-16

      DragonGrafx-16

Depends on what the game is. Most 2600 games have like way too many options IMO. I feel like game 1 should always be the standard and the fact that game 1 on Asteroids, for example, isn't even like the arcade.

What shows give you the most ire on Today's Cartoon Network?

I'd rather watch Mr. Pickles or King Star King over the overhyped, badly-written, badly animated, unfunny tripe that has plagued American Animation for the past ten or so years.

I used to love Adult Swim but I now only have Boomerang,  no Cartoon Network so IDK...

  4. Always nice to see the Channel F get some love. :)

  5. Found Higher Quality versions of a few Atari ads from 1987, I plan on uploading them along with a restoration soon on my youtube.

  6. Is the Left hand controller the default player 1 controller for Intellivision?

Don't you like ZippyRedPlumber?  I always thought it was OK.

  8. TikTok is cancer & I am the.... uh, what cures cancer?

  9. If HBO Max took off Close Enough because of tax write offs, then why is Beware The Batman on the service?

  10. Happy 40th, Colecovision!

  11. Thank you for making one of my favorite childhood Cartoon Network shows. RIP, Everett Peck.

As a fan of The Real Ghostbusters, that is quite distressing.

  12. Just noticed that Puppet Boy became a tiktok meme, good to see that criminally underrated song get the attention it deserves.

One of my personal favorites from Devo's Shout album. :)

  13. Would people play a game that has one hit game overs? i.e. flappy bird & kc munchkin

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

      We all played Adventure!

    2. BydoEmpire

      BydoEmpire

I like KC Munchkin, so I would.  Depends on the game, and it would very much have to be designed with that up front.

  14. Does anyone know any 2600 games that had only one life?

  15. Do most 2600 homebrews have game variations and or use the game select switch?

    1. doctorclu

      doctorclu

Ha that is a tough one.   I for one don't even know all the home brews anymore there are so many.

I'm no expert, but kinda seems like I see a lot of menus instead...

  16. Stupid question: Were 2600s still being sold in 1984 & 1985?

    1. Zoyous

      Zoyous

In the US, I remember the games being sold at steep discounts in '84, so I guess the consoles were also? I'm not so sure about '85.

And the 2600Jr came along in 1986 FWIW...

@Zoyous Do you have any samples of your work, or where to buy copies?

During the 90's and up till today my alternative to the Super Hero comics was ElfQuest.

And you can read the earlier 40 years of material online for free!

Also a fan of Sam & Max, Freelance Police.   The Tick, as mentioned earlier, is a great spoof the superhero stories.   And Groo the Wanderer is a great spoof of fantasy (like Conan) stories.

  18. Would 2600 joysticks work on the Intellivision II?

  20. Is Jetpac considered a platformer?

    1. Leonard Smith

      Leonard Smith

I think it's more appropriately classified as a single screen puzzle/action game (similar to Bubble Bobble and Solomon's Key).

  21. Is it possible to use the Titlescreen Kernal without bankswitching?

    1. KaeruYojimbo

      KaeruYojimbo

I've only dabbled with the titlescreen kernel so I could be way off base here, but I'm pretty sure it's not possible since it's using a completely different display kernel than the standard drawscreen routine. Even if you could, I don't think there'd be much space left for a game in 4k.

    2. freshbrood

      freshbrood

They literally have samples showing it working in a 2k game.

  22. Is player0 associated with left controller or right controller?

    1. bluswimmer

      bluswimmer

If you're referring to the sprite then it technically isn't associated with either controller; that's up to you to decide.

    2. atari2600land

      atari2600land

I think I know what he means. Player0 refers the left controller. But, bluswimmer is correct as well.

  23. Would anyone even wanna buy a game that only has one playfield screen? ?

Dark Cavern for Atari 2600 only has one screen and it's fun as hell!

  24. Just out of curiosity, were IntelliVisions still being sold at stores in 1985?

    1. Turbo-Torch

      Turbo-Torch

The Intellivision II most certainly was.  The INTV III was still being sold at Toys R Us in 1987 for around $70.00.

    2. retrorussell

      retrorussell

I don't really remember seeing Intellivisions back then.. I know that the INTV Corp. was making new games for it around 1987.  Some of them really good!

  25. What's easier to develop for,

    2600 or 7800?
