  1. If any homebrewers are looking for a sports game to write, the Jaguar NEEDS a baseball game!

I'd love to get something done, but i dont have the tools.

All you need is the following:

    Atari Jaguar

    Atari Jaguar cd

    BJL Cd

    BJL Cable

Or if you dont have a JagCD, there are a number of people here capable of installing a bjl boot rom for you instead, which would also be nicer to use.

Also dont forget you'll need the compilers, linkers, upload tools, the manual, etc, all of which can be obtained on the Starcat Dev CD (yet another plug, I should charge for this lol).

The hardest to procure would be the cable, and I think I saw a link to a store selling the adapters for $15 or so. Maybe somebody can link it...

Hmm... I dont really see why... the wiring diagram is easy to use, and the parts should be availible at your nearest maplin/radio shack/etc... what I did for mine is use a standard 25pin straight cable (make sure all pins are connected) and then made a gender changer type box, using empty d-shells and push in pins, which need no soldering and are very very easy to use.

They come as just a blank plug/socket, and a strip of seperate pins, which you crimp onto the end of your cable using pliers or whatever you have to hand, and then push through from the back of the plug/socket shell and lock into place. They're so much easier than using standard solder bucket connectors, especially for the high density plugs on the Jag.

thanks, tho i dont have the CD unit(Yet).

    again, thanks for the help.

  2. :D Wow i found my copy of metal gear solid for ps. It was under a huge stack of ebay stuff in my room. I popped it in and have been adicted the last two days. I am now on the 2nd disk. Wow there is a lot of bosses you have to fight in this game and more to come (this is my secound time on the game so i kind of know what is ahead). This game is amazing by going back and playing it i am going to say this is the best ps game i have ever seen or played. I am sending out money for the nes one now. How is the nes one? Does it have bosses and that kind of stuff like the one for ps.

Metal Gear is the best game ever  :D

Now all i need is a copy of sons of liberty (all i have is the manual and that doesnt get you to far)  :|

if you're still looking for MGS2, i have one. red GH label.

  3. AES- "Advanced Entertainment System" Neo-geo for Home Use.

MVS- "Multi Video System" Neo-geo for arcade use. can store up to 6 games

Both are cartridge format, and both share identical roms. So there are no "porting" issues, from teh arcade to home, simply different size pcbs that keep the two from being freely interchanged.

With a BIOS mod, you can make the MVS play like an AES, or an AES play as the MVS.

Don't forget that the adapter from MVS to AES is almost as expensive as its weight in gold! I've seen it go for a few hundred dollars on eBay. No tellin how much they are now. Hell, I can't even remember the name the users gave them (kinda like how the PC-Engine to TG-16 adapter is called a "Kisado").

I think I saw one of these adapters at the CGE this year, but then again, I saw a LOT of stuff at the CGE, so I could be wrong :)

I've heard that you can pull the physical ROMs straight off of an MVS cart and stick them in the correct ports of an AES cart and vice versa. But if you're that desperate to save cash, would you really have either Neo Geo? =D

those adapters(commonly called the "Phantom 0") suck..... they ruin your carts connector slots.

    convertions are somewhat blue line..

Noob question alert, Noob question alert!

What is MVS and AES mean?

I do not know much of anything about the Neo Geo other than when it first came out I could not believe games were like 300 dollars a piece.  Was this thing that advaced for its time?  Are the games that hard to find now that they go for 1500?

wow, that's cool. too bad i'm not really a hockey buff. i'll wait until something more of my interest comes up...

  6. Apparently they were semi-standard. I mean, both Sega and Sony used them. Or was there some deal going on?

Either way, I wish they could have just used the hard cardboard boxes for them all. Not the paper cardboard ones, the harder book like ones. Those seem to hold together better.

I may have to win some Lot auctions just to get enough replacement cases. Currently I have my whole small collection with working cases and all my dupes with the borked ones, but it's run down. No more. All my few remaining ones have no hinges.

*sigh* I guess there's no source even for third party remakes. I'd settle for anything that was clear and allowed the back paper and manual to be shown.

Quick.. someone create a mould. We could make a fortune on them.. small fortune... a few bucks at least.

there wasnt any deal going on, Sony bought some off of SEGA when they were starting out with the PSX.

  7. Hi!

    Hello!

    Hi,

hmm I looked at this list and was wondering if my info is correct:

    [uNRELEASED]

    ..

    Q*Sound Dev Demo

That's the second time i read about a "QSound Dev Demo", but i don't know what it is. Can you or someone else give a description about this program?

    Thanks in Advance!

    Matthias

The Q-Sound sound system give a feeling of "virtual audio/surround" from two speakers.

Of course i know what Qsound is, i was just wondering about this "Dev Demo"-name, this is a very general name. The Qsound-Development-Kit-Archive which was distributed with the Jaguar-developer-Discs years ago (and which is the same TXG/MNX has found meanwhile) contains one demo-file, which produces/shows some of the pseudo-3D-effects. I was just wondering if there were other "official" demos available.

    Regards

    Matthias

it's most likely a sound source demo, but i could be wrong, tho.
