  1. Found the file in the programming section, cool
  2. Ok but the general structure was more importent for me. Matthias
  3. Looks good but no file attached
  4. Ups, didn't tested it on real XL. Shame on me.
  5. Well, I think all of the Atari made 7800 docs that are currently available are on one of those two links. But there are a few other people that have written their own findings up. Dan Boris probably has the most well know page. There are a few others as well. Good luck. Mitch Unfortunately the link is dead But this forum is also helpfull Matthias
  6. Try here and here. Mitch Thanks, I know this links, I downloaded the doc file from atari archive yesterday (good side btw.). But further documentation/sourcecode would be helpfull. Matthias
  7. Ok, I understood that so far but I don't excactly know how to handle that. If I have a displaylist like that $00,$60,$94,$12,$10 this would mean (if I understand it correctly): get data from $9400 Indirect mode on/Writemode 0 HPOS $10 Palette $1 And (here starts the trouble) width $2 What about that width? Get first byte in $9400 than $9401 or repeat byte in $9400 2 times? The byte in $9400 holds the lowbyte of charset if I understand it correctly, right? That would mean if charbase is $90 and $9400 contains $00 the content of $9000 would be displayed. What about the next line (if we assume that offfset of DLL is >0)? A lot of questions... Matthias
  8. Ah, one more answer Sure this will work but if there would be such a mechanism why don't use it less "schnickschnack" is surely better
  9. Thanks for the answer. The 7800 architecture is really uncommon but interesting. I guess I will take a deeper look into it. To define and moving objects doesn’t seems to be a problem, until now I didn’t get the point of the indirect mode but only read a few hours so maybe I’ll manage it. Is there any other documentation beside the well known software guide (which I read)? Matthias
  10. I just took a look in technical specs of the MARIA chip. I didn’t found any way to check collision (by hardware). Does it mean the is no way or do I have “bad” documentation? Bye Matthias
  11. Shipping within germany normaly takes one day, I think it is not that bad. Sometime shit happes but not only at the german post
  12. Castle Crisis needed about 2 weeks from the states to germany with airmail.
  13. Yep, it's really cool. On A8 you can play it with 4 players (paddle).
  14. Castle Crisis arrived today Just played two games yet but had a lot of fun. This will be CC weekend. The games runs perfect on PAL, I will compare it to NTSC the next days. Matthias Btw. my paddles just have one!? trigger (got them from ebay and didn't used them until now), IMHO there should be two...
  15. Good idea Trooper! For one of the best demos sides click here: http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~sgl/atari/...emos_index.html Matthias
  16. Those distortions are the norm on PAL XE Systems. Or should I say every XE I saw had those distortions on the screen. Can't confirm that, my first modded XL has much more distortions (picture above) than the second one. I tried to say that stock XL computers never had such distortions, but every stock (130) XE I have seen, has such distortions. I never saw a PAL XE without this problem. That's one cause why I still prefer the XL series. Ok, I see. My fault Matthias
  17. It seems the XL solution to the noise was to blur it out. I'm hoping Schmutzpuppe has good results, and the wire bypasses the noise sources altogehter, in which case it might be time to look at improving PAL XE's. -Bry Good work (again) Bry, less distortion not completely vanished but much weaker. The difference on the upgraded XL is much stronger visible. On the second modded XL the difference isn't that big but the picture of this machine hasn't much distortion before. Thanks Matthias

  19. Never heard of it but found a short test of the C64 version: "Play by yourself or against a rival to assemble your halftime marching band on the field and play out the tunes. Plenty of tricks and traps can be used to help yourself or hinder your opponent. Plus you get extra points for getting the proper tunes out of the musicians. Decent graphics and sound, and hard to get to grips with initially."
  20. Thanks Bry, I will try this mod tonight. Matthias
  21. It's worth a try, go for it Btw. I use a 600XL power supply which is (as far as I know) a bit stronger than the one from the 800XL. Matthias Well, that Rev D board was dead, so I finally fixed it (after replacing all the RAM, I discovered the OS ROM was bad). Now, I get a very clean picture (I'm using an NTSC GTIA and Crystal, but the board is a PAL board). I got slightly less noise when I removed L5 entirely (breaking the 5V supply path) and ran a wire from the front hole of L5 to the front leg of C3 (the electrolytic on the right side of the power jack). I don't know if this would help your situation much or not. Are you getting the noise in the 2nd 800XL you did? -Bry On the second the noise isn't far as stong but there is some noise that I didn't notice before the mod. This doesn't hurt me too much because overall the picture is much better than before Matthias
