  1. by low-pass filtering the luminance you can avoid that luminances affect the chrominances. this reduces/removes color artefacts. Later machines (like XE's) don't have it, and the 400/800 used a much gentler filter (33pF instead of 180pF). Anyway, it's effect is too dramatic to be beneficial, and C54 is the cap that does the job properly. Compare the video with and without it, and you'll see why Atari eventually removed it. -Bry I can confirm this, without C54 the picture is much cleaner (saw the difference when I did the mod on a secound XL, first with and later without C54). Matthias
  2. Yep, that's what I meant, maybe it has to do with the Ram upgrade. On the other hand I modded another XL (unmodified before) and can see some low irradiation that hasn't been there before. But the sharpness overbalanced that. Matthias
  3. Maybe you have an idea but I guess you can't solve this because it isn't due to the s-video mod. The same also happen with fbas signal Matthias btw. capacitor doesn't help that much
  4. What kind of distortion? Can you photograph it? -Bry Picture is attached. The most troublesome are the stripes in the background. Matthias
  5. Cool it works, picture is much sharper than before. Unfortunately I still have some "distortion", maybe I should try to add the capacitor. Many thanks Matthias
  6. Sounds great I will get my paddle out of the cellar today Matthias Yours shipped a couple days ago. -Bry Very cool But well, a long distance but maybe I get it until next weekend, I know what to do than Matthias
  7. Sounds great I will get my paddle out of the cellar today Matthias
  8. Yep, it's a rev. D board, my Rev. C has the C56. Yep, definitely a home job, I get this "freak" board with a lot of enhancements like HF/NF switch, old reset (400/800) push-button, 512kb, 4 OS switchable. Someone must have had a lot of work with this baby. I will leave it alone for now. Thanks for the education Matthias
  9. Just opened one of my 800XL and found a 10 ohm resistor piggybacked (funny word, never heard it before) on R55. Anyone now what benefit this could bring? Btw. C56 isn’t available and R53 is 100 ohm. Matthias
  10. Yes. The video circuits are the same (and reading down, I see you discovered this). -Bry Cool, this mod looks much easier than super video 2.1 mod. Thanks for the info. Matthias
  11. Hm, circut looks the same, should work I guess...
  12. My first Atari was an 2600 back in 1981 (I think) but I really doesn't remeber my first game The real fun began 1984(?) with the 600XL and a tape deck, I remeber having just one commercial game: Batty Builders which was fun but a little boring over the time. That's the reason why I start writing my own (basic) games finding out that writing games can be more fun than playing Hard to name the best game, there are to much really good titels. Just to mention a few: Archon (I+II), Ballblazer, Bruce Lee, M.U.L.E., Agent U.S.A., Alley Cat, IK, Pitfall 2.....
  13. And it goes on... Here another version that I modified a long time ago, it is based on World Karate Championship. You can choose between two speeds, music plays at more accurade speed on PAL Atari and (best of all) this version save the highscore to disc (that's why it's medium density). Matthias ik.zip
  14. Fake borders are possible using PM (done that in a very old demo) but why do you wanna convert the gfx? Leaderboard was converted for the good old A8 (as far as i remember it had this unusual dongle protection).
  15. Would be germany in my case. Is there any way to pay without paypal?
  16. Are there any problems with CC on PAL A8 and how about shipping outside the usa?
  17. Realy great port bryede! The sound is like the arcade version, realy cool
  18. Lol, did you get asleep after the intro?
  19. Good work! Gfx is even better than the C64 version and the game is a bit easier (that's good). Will it be possible to move to the right in the final version? Hm, maybe i'll make a A8 port. Matthias
  20. This MOD import is a killer feature, RMT get's better and better. Good work If "bizarre" is the intention then you did't a realy good job I am looking forward to the next version, keep it up.
  21. I have to disagree, APE works fine on my 566@733 celeron XP system. What i did now is to disable the 2 level cache and underclocked the 3000xp+ to real 1,46Mhz. APE seem to work fine than (most of the time, sometimes i have to reset the XL) BUT only if i run prime95 "torture test" to get heavy cpu load. Underclocking or prime95 alone didn't work. Matthias
  22. Yep, it's a VIA KT400. I'll try to underclock my system and see what will happen. Matthias
  23. I have some trouble with the SIO communication (APE v2.0.6) on my 3000XP+ using 1 Chip design cable and RI Serial control. Debug gives me: Device:31, Command:53, Aux1:00, Aux2:00, Checksum:84 Followed by some Device:31, Command:40, Aux1:4F, Aux2:4F, Checksum:2E Than some Device:4F, Command:40, Aux1:00, Aux2:00, Checksum:8F Is there a general problem with APE on fast computers and/or anyone know how to solve this problem? I use windows xp/sp1 (fresh installation) on an A7V8X Matthias
