4 hours ago, Mr Robot said:Aliexpress show my cables as not having left China yet
but when they do arrive, they will be XL length and I will have spares if anyone wants one.
Aliexpress stopped shipping to a lot of countries right now...
Better use ebay stores, they for now still ship stuff...

A nec 1990fxp lcd works great with an ST, no scaler need, it works in all resolutions out of the box, just needs st to vga cables.

Hi,
I know there is a arduino TAP player ,tapuino, for the C64, I was wondering if it could be possible to build a arduino CAS player for the A8?
Found this
but it doesnt really show a lot or give any information about it.
Anybody have any idea about this?

umm Lotharek sells it cheaper

but since he is in north america, he still has to buy a new power supply 110v not 220v and that is around $80 from best electronics with shipping, on top of shipping from europe, and a montior from europe doesnt work in north america either. just easier to find one here. they are everywhere
Both statements are wrong, no need for a new power supply, only needs a 110v to 220v voltage converter which you can get for less that $20, and the monitor would just work fine. I have been using both computers and monitors from all around the world since the 70s and never had any problem, when I lived in Europe, most stuff I had was imported from the US and all I needed to use was a voltage converter to get it to work.

The price also depends of where you are looking for one, where I am residing right now, South America, first of all if you can find one the price range is between $300 (for a ST, main unit only) upto $600 (for a STE, main unit only).
But look for one in Europe and you can find them dirt cheap, I got a 1040STFM and 1040STE for less than €50 (and both had a monitor included). I had to pay around €200 shipping cost but still a great deal .

That's pretty inaccurate. There is about 100 games using STE enhanced features, then at least 40 STE only games. Expandng STF with more RAM is only for people experienced with soldering.
Lets see, a mere 40 (or even a 100) is but a handfull of the +2500 ST games around, me thinks.
-
You do realize it'll probably cost more to upgrade a 1040STF/M to 4mb than just buying a 1040STe in the first place, right?
That depends on where you are located and on how handy you are in upgrading a ST

-
If youre on a budget a 1040 STF/M is more than enough, it will play all ST games. There are only a handfull STe only games and NONE that are worth the extra cost. And if you have extra money to spend, use it to expand the STF/M with more memory and floppy emulator.

I guess that honor would go to the Xerox Alto, developed in 1973.

It was always obvious to me the Amiga was more an Atari machine than the Atari ST and that is was more related to the Atari 8bits. I had both, first got the ST as it came out sooner and it was/is a great machine especially as it was designed/build in such a short period of time. When I got the Amiga I didnt feel it was that much better despite the fact it took years to design/build, it had better graphics and sound but a lot of games were not that much better than the ST versions. Some games were better on the ST though, Captain Blood comes to mind...
I have both again and I use the ST more to play some games on than the Amiga which I rarely use.
Of course the one I use the most to play is my Atari 8bit, in my eyes the best 8bit ever made

This is a cool little device.
If you build some more to sell; how much would it cost?
