Good Zelda or RPG style GBC or Original gameboy games?
figgler replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Rolan's Curse and Rolan's Curse 2 are similar. Both are pretty hard to find though -
For SNES it's the same basic ending, but whomever you beat the game with is shown standing on the cliff. I don't know what happens if you beat it with 2 players though. Cool ending still. I love game endings that take you back through the game, showing the levels - or in the case a retrospective on the bosses you've killed.

Went back and checked this out again last night (and Beat it with the Wizard ) The SNES version also has 4 difficulty levels, that I would assume the arcade version doesn’t. Depending on how much you like King of Dragons, this is a big, big plus. I’ll have to try out the hard and hardest levels. I’ve always wanted to be able to finish the game as the dwarf. Of course the biggest advantage for the SNES version is the SNES controller itself. I hate the PS2 controller personally and am not much of an arcade stick user.

How have your gaming tastes changed over the decades?
figgler replied to Ransom's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The main thing that's changed with me is a much greater appreciation for replay value. Back in the day, once I beat a game, I might as well have smashed it to bits. As far as I was concerned, I'd beaten it, it was done and even if it was great, replaying it had zero appeal to me. In the past 10 years though I've grown out of that mentality. The ultimate goal is still beating any given game, but I very much enjoy re-beating stuff and coming back again and again over time -
SNES version has continues you can collect, which I don't think you can get in the arcade without dropping in another quarter. I also think blocking is easier, though I am not much of a blocker anyway. This is one of the greatest games of all time IMO.

Thanks for the carts. Bump
-
Just about every pirate famicom cart I have has new names hacked in for the games, or the copyright Nintendo thing removed. Super Mario Bros is most often Mr Mari, or the title is removed completely

Wet Ones - or other wet wipes and a few toothpicks for hte crevices will do you wonders

Updated list SNES Death and Return of Superman Batman Returns Justice League: Task Force Ninja Warriors Battle Clash Super Double Dragon - this one I feel good about since it has a rep for being pretty hard
-
Thanks. A quick glance tells me I like it. One could sit down and nit pick a rarity list forever, but this one is at least better than the one everybody seems to use.

Bumping this. Who has a comparable SNES cart to swap?
-
But is that Achievements site 'official'? I don't really follow Xbox, so I am not sure. I honestly can't say I see any holes in J.Max's arguments, regardless of whatever contrary rumours are out there. I can't see Marvel agreeing to a re-release of this game when the characters are now so different. As J.Max mentions, you'd need new sprites - Hulk for one, hasn't looked anything like he does in MvC2 in almost a decade.

Just the cart I'm afraid. It works, and has a decent label but some goof off coloured in the Nintendo symbol yellow on the back and I haven't been able to get it off yet.

I have an extra copy of this for SNES and I know it's pretty sought after, so I am hoping someone is looking for it and will trade for something comparable for SNES. Just let me know what you think

I wonder who this is. How can he not be an AAer?

I beleive the arcade version of this is available for download on the Wii VC
-
Complete if possible, but either way. Thanks in advance

Well my parents finally threatened to take my games away
figgler replied to STICH666's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Your dad is trying to point out that your priorities are a little fucked up right now and he's right. Do well in school, get a half decent job and in ten years you should have enough disposable income to buuy all the games you want. -
My friend and I discovered Star Force by accident back in the day. They had NES games for $20 at the local department store, which was an absolute steal back when games weren't routinely 29.99 4 months after they came out. Anyway he picked Star Force, I grabbed Cybernoid. Needless to say he got the much better deal and I couldn't get him to trade for even a weekend for the longest time. I totally recommend playing with a QuickShot XII if you have one

PM sent and a free bump

.... and 4 years after this thread, I finally hooked up my Super Scope this weekend. I didn't realise I'd had it that long until I read that last post of mine . First thing I thought when I tried out Super Scope 6, was "this is WAY better than the Zapper". This is primarily because it is accurate, stunningly accurate even. Something like Battle Clash would never float on NES because you could never pinpoint so exactly (Well, at least I couldn't). Battle Clash lets you take out specific limbs, shoot incoming missiles etc, and my arms don't ache from holding out a hand gun for 45 minutes. The points here about it taking a lot batteries are true, but it's not like batteries are expensive or rare or something. And yes, it's bulky, but miles more comfortable than any handgun light guns I've used and much easier to aim with precision I never did find Yoshi's Safari, nor TinStar, but over the years I've grabbed a couple Super Scope games. T2 the Arcade Game does work with it, but I don't like it and never did. So far it's all about Battle Clash and the pack in cart - particularly the Confront game in Laser Blazer

Who's got the DSi and what's your opinions?
figgler replied to Video's topic in Modern Console Discussion
When Figgler badmouths a Nintendo product, you know it is not good. He gave it, let's say, a four out of ten there. Using the adjustable Captain N scale, that makes it... approximately.... hmmm... leprosy on anyone else's scale. Just to be clear - I don't think it's all bad. Downloading games is cool, and I see a tonne of potential there. I also played Birds and Beans and it was okay, but not anything more than a cute mini-game. Though, it was apparently only like $2 or so. I just don't understand what the rest of the system is for. Who cares about a camera? The photo thing is dumb and I hate it on the Wii too. Why does Nintendo think everyone is so snap-happy? I guess for kids, they probably don't own a camera of their own, and so this is cool for them. Same with the music thing I guess, but these features are nothing to me. The Wario Ware game I mentioned used the camera exclusively. You had to set the system on a table, the lighting had to be perfect (forget playing in the basement), and then you flail around like an idiot. This is not the same as flailing around like an idiot on Wii however, because 1) Wii works and 2) people watching you play Wii can see the TV and what you are trying to do. With Wario Ware, you're looking at this box on the table, trying to stay in the camera's frame of reference and no one can see why you're doing any of this, so you look and feel stupid. Forget the fact that this is impossible to play on the subway or anywhere in public. Based on the WW game alone, it makes me think of the original GameBoy. You know, the 'portable' system that was best played when you sat in one spot and had the lamp angled just right or else you couldn't see the screen. I think I'm just in a critical mood today -

Ditto on this. Manipulating photos on a very basic level was not fun. The Wario Ware game did not work half of the time and when it did, it sucked. I don't think I understand the DSi. They took away the GBA slot and gave us a portable EyeToy that doesn't always work and I have zero interest in using even if it did. -
They opened one here in Toronto about 6 weeks ago and I found out and went over last week. Pretty slick decor inside and nice guys working there. I looked only at the retro section that was basically one display case. Overpriced on some things like Zelda Ocarina of Time for 59.99, but cheaper NES games, etc. I picked up a copy of Lost Vikings 2 for SNES at $14 - a very good price for a game you never see in the wild

My god, isn't Batman Returns great? Pat yourself on the back - Mania difficulty is hard enough, you really need to be 'in the zone' to do well at this difficulty. Beating it with no continues would require reflexes like Batman himself
