  1. Yeah, was cool to get some WFC action going Saturday afternoon - before we got dropped :(

Crossbow, I got a letter from Axel in your town (Atari on!!), but I can't send one back without visiting again I beleive. I can send to you over WFC, but not the animals.

I have plans tonight, so I won't be able to log into my town at all today (for shame). Perhaps tomorrow night I'll be back online and running the usual errands.

  2. How does AC use the SD card? I know you can take photos, and I've taken one or two, but had no idea where they were being stored. Do they get sent to the photo channel or the message board like Metroid Prime 3 did?

You can send them to the message board (I think), but I am not sure where they end up by default. Maybe each overwrites the last and you can only have one at a time. I wonder if you can maybe attach them to letters also - that would be cool. There's also an option that says "Save to SD Card", which is what I can't do, thanks to a "There is no SD card inserted in the Wii" message. But there is :|

  3. Yeah we'll see how this turns out. RE4 Wii was awesome.

As for comparisons to other systems' versions, I couldn't care less. If I owned those other systems I might, but I don't. I'll judge this game, like all others, on what it offers me as a Wii owner. Not what it offered other people playing machines I don't have.

  4. Castlevania is so stagnant, they need a whole new concept I feel. A fighting game is probably not the answer, but something is needed. The last 6 2-D CVs released for GBA and DS are all basically the same, with a different map, different characters and some magic/combo gimmick thrown in. The MetroidVania approach bores me now, so much so that I can't play the newest one, because the last was such a snoozy deja vu.

Until they are able to come up with something as fresh as CV 3, 4 and Symphony felt, then I'm out.

  5. I've added everyone's FC here as of tonight. ;)

Keyboard support is very cool on this.

Also, I'm getting back into one of my favourite parts of AC - Superhero T-Shirt designs. I'd like to display my shirts in as many towns as will have me really. I dig the whole viral element of animals wearing my stuff and potentially taking it all over the world.

  6. The controls work. It's Wii, so it's all motion controlled of course, but it's responsive, fun and I'm enjoying it.

Create a wrestler seems pretty deep, too deep for me actually. I tried creating Hulk Hogan and got sort of overwhelmed by all the options I had and gave up.

If you cared too and had the time, I am sure you could come up with some really cool guys.

  7. Speaking of which, how does one move their whole town over?! I was only able to move my character, not my town?!

I don't think you can. Your DS town is still functioning on that cart after you move. When you boot City Folk a second time there's an option for 'DS Suitcase' but I haven't any idea what that does. I am hoping there is away to transfer patterns, I had some really cool ones on DS that I guess I could just reproduce, but that's a drag.

  8. Grabbed this one today! It sure is Animal Crossing.

I moved over from my DS town, which I thought was pretty cool. I don't know if animals I knew will remember me or not... Nook, Pelly and the 'permanent cast' don't. I do wish they would have changed these characters at least. Different animals as mayor, tailor, etc would have been cool instead of the same citizens that have been in 3 different towns now. I kind of feel like I'm playing Animal Crossing Crisis on Infinite Earths. Still, AC is AC and this game is going to be a lot of fun.

Here's my Friend info - I'll add you guys when I play in the morning

  9. *Visit people's towns even when they're not playing.

How does that work? They leave the Wii on all day, walk away and technically they're 'not playing'? ;)

I just get PO'd over how anal people get about things like this and that cultural history has to be changed just so a holiday doesn't offend someone. Christmas and Easter recess from school never used to bother anyone, but now, you have to call them Winter and Spring so that someones panties doesn't get all bunched up.

I think this appropriate actually. Those holidays are originally about the beginning of Winter and Spring anyhow.

  10. When digital downloads are the primary way to get games, everyone bitching and moaning about what Epic is angry about will have no choice anyways.

It's true. While I am not a fan of releasing "half games" or pre-programming them to not work completely when ownership is transferred, or whatever, it's only a short amount of time before the whole issue is moot.

  11. It started with you implying that Metroid was out performing BioShock, then when you got pwned by the numbers, changing that to mean just being in the top 10 and thowing around labels like "fun" vs "shooter" system, "hardcore" and "stigma", implying "hardcore shoorters" aren't fun, then when you got pwned again, redefining what you mean "fun games" are. :ponder: .

If you don't understand that everyday consumers have pre-conceived ideas when it comes to videogame systems and that it correlates with what games should, and do sell well, then you're a fool. You can put "quotes" around anything you want, it shows that you missed the core point and got hung up on the labels used to illustrate it. Success is relative. Try looking at it a different way. If apples and oranges must be compared, at least level the playing field first and understand what's being compared and how.

Didn't know the Wii forum was for Wii owners to spew bullshit about performance and other systems & games unchallenged. :ponder:

See, and I thought this was a forum for Wii enthusiasts to meet and discuss it.

If one is not enthused about Wii to begin with and really only shows up here to challenge thoughts on a competing product for which they are very much an enthusiast, that's called trolling where I come from. This is why they seperated the forums to begin with, so that we could discuss the system du jour without people who have no vested interest interjecting.

  12. You're right. (About what I have no clue)

Remember how this started with Bioshock outselling Metroid and how surprising that was? I was just aiming to point to a reason why this might be happening and why it isn't unexpected.

BTW, Just because peoples opinion differs from yours, doesn't mean they don't have a Wii and doesn't mean they are trolling.... it aint all about you, the fact remains, that commercial is lame.

So what you think he's not being a tool like usual? Something valuable to contribute to the Wii community in a Wii forum perhaps, or did he appear only to argue with me and talk about Xbox here? What's that definition of trolling again? Wake up man.

  13. Yes I know you are right and by no means am I trying to say any game type isn't fun. However, by fun games here I'm pointing to simple fun stuff with little depth. Like Wii Play. Call them fun, call them casual, it's all semantics really.

None of this really reflects how I feel about either system, but each of them do have a stigma or a label about what games they are supposed to have, who buys them and why. That's how it is and has been with consoles for a long time.

I'm pointing out that Metroid is doing well despite this label and helping to shed Wii's stigma of casual fun (i.e. no depth). That's it.

  14. Dude this just shows I'm right.

The 360 games in this list are a shooter and a sports game. So you can expand the "shooter system" comment to include shooters and sports if you want. It doesn't change anything.

The stigma with Wii is that it's the "fun system", casual gamers only, no "real" games. And here we have a big time shooter for Wii "a real game" in the top 10. Where's the casual, party or fun 360 game on this list?

Would you expect Fusion Frenzy 2 to do well on the "hardcore" 360? Probably not, and if I'm correct, it didn't.

Would you expect a "hardcore" shooter to do well on the casual Wii? But it is.

    That's my point.

Either buy and play Wii, or quit trolling this board.
