  1. I don't know about this actually. In theory it sounds cool, but in reality you need to have some screening. I mean you can't have people making games about screwing inflatable dolls or butchering children or something. Not to mention people making games with Donkey Kong or any IP in them. Nintendo's got to be sugar coating if they are saying bug testing is all the screening required. And how does the ESRB factor in?
  2. Made it to the boss of stage 3 with 16,130 Karnov also appears a couple of times in Bad Dudes as a boss character and in the SNES version of Fighter's History.
  3. Over PC games? I mean, console games or arcade cabinates, sure. But computer games? I'd already have to be looking for an excuse to break it off to call the bluff there, and even then I'd think it a pretty poor excuse. They're not even real games. Agreed. But, there is prinicpal involved and a point to be made. First the PC games, then the DVD collection, all those tools you never use in the shed, and next it'll be the porn stash. I'll be married sometime in 2008 and I'll tell you right now that if it comes down to "Either (insert collection) goes or I go!", I'll be putting my big size 8 foot down with the utmost authority.
  4. Dragon Warrior 4 is friggin awesome. And expensive, so I welcome this rerelease with open arms. i just hope to god that Enix will release these with the original versions still intact. No one ever does this and I certainly don't expect it, but I prefer games in their original 8 bit-ness when possible
  5. Cinemas being an "essential" part of the gaming experience is a major problem with modern gaming in my view. The fact that movies and games are almost indistinguishable is not a good thing. Back in the day when a cinema was quick, simple and effective was the peak for me. You know, Pac-Man meets Ms Pac-man and a heart ensues, or a few screens of text, then some animations, then a title screen. Those were the days. I think once games moved to CD formats, people got really carried away and started investing far too much time and effort into super-elaborate CG movies, just because they could. Now kids don't know the difference and think cinemas make the game. It's a damn shame I say.

  7. Something with a timer you can set at five mintues exactly would be good. Say, a 5 minute coin match in Super Smash Bros.
  8. 38, 850 which is about 1000 less than the best I've ever scored on this
  9. This was very dissappointing to me. Flashback to the 80's where I'm a kid with no money and it takes months to save up and buy anything, let alone an NES cartridge. However, when MegaMan 2 hit I had to have it. I earned as much as possible, sold stuff, did chores etc and bought it one glorious evening after school. What sucked is that I beat half the game the same night. I was pretty dissapointed that the game I thought about every day for months was so easy for me. It even got to the point where I wasn't writing down passwords, just to make it last longer. I'm pretty sure I finished it in 5 days regardless. It is still one of my most favourite games to this day though
  10. This is a great port, but don't tell JB that. It plays well and I still maintain that if you aren't a huge gaming freak, you wouldn't know that this isn't almost arcade perfect. So, I am back in the HSC, for this week at least. Was playing this last night and I'll post a score tonight hopefully
  11. Okay wait a second. I own the DVD and it's titled "The Complete Series". Are there Captain N episodes that I don't have? For shame. Stone me if you wish, but I rather enjoy this series. A number of the episodes make little to no sense, but the nostalgia factor makes it watchable and enjoyable too. Man, I remember not only looking forward to this and watching it every week, but also taking notes of all the different charcters, enemies and references in the episode so that Monday at recess, us Nintendo geeks could talk about it. Shout Factory has issued a number of Nintendo cartoons lately, all made by Dic I believe and all of the same style and 'quality' as Captain N. Mind you Zelda has much better writing than does Capatin N. Here's what I have so far and best I can tell this is all that's been released to this point; Super Mario Bros Super Show Volume 1 Super Mario Bros Super Show Volume 2 Legend of Zelda: The Complete Series Captain N The Game Master: The Complete Series The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3: The Complete Series
  12. The big issue with this game is that the final boss is impossible. For me at least. I have the first Super Bomberman too, but I found it after this one and as is not uncommon, haven't got around to playing it as yet
  13. I'm in TO too and I've always wondered if there was any gaming cons going on here. It's a huge city and it always seems like something is going on. Rik, I don't expect that Sci Fi and Comic Expo to have much, though I will likely check it out this August for the Star Wars factor regardless
  14. That's as far as I ever got too. Basically you need to do this if you want a working NES that lets you play imports. I have enough of them sitting around that I've thought of painting one up more than once, but to no avail. At least not yet
  15. Would you beleive I finally finished this last night with a total time of 66hrs? 66 hours! Now that it's complete it looks like the real fun is about to start. Once I fill up my Pokedex completely it really going to get crazy. And sorry - I meant to post my code here but for some reason AA crashes on my machine at home now - ever since the last update
  16. I'll go. Let me check back later and I'll just post my friend code here. I am not so sure about Voip, but I am up for battling. (I hate talking on the phone to people I know, so please take no offense )
  17. I've been playing Pokemon Pearl like an obsessed bastard for 3 weeks and playing almost nothing else save a little Zelda in the mornings. Anyway, the amount of time I've been playing my DS had me thinking I broke it yesterday morning when I turned it on. Instead of the usual, pulsing ding noice it makes when you turn it on, it was making more of a ringing chime that was instantly recognisable as quite different. So yeah, I though maybe the speakers were going or something even though the game sounds were fine. When I turned it on today to play Pokemon (again) the noise was back to normal. Being that yesterday was my birthday, do you think it had something to do with that? Your birthday is saved in the settings isn't it? I can't think of any other reason..
  18. I went with Turtwig and he has served me well so far. Mind you it is not at all difficult to acquire the other 2 via trade, especially considering that the Japanese have had this game for months longer than we
  19. T & C Surf Designs for NES is also a "sponsored" game
