I suppose you are right, though I wish it weren't so. I miss DK J. Someone wanna tell me how he appeared in Mario Kart and then suddenly he's grown up for DKC? I'm just being nit picky, but I miss the guy, really. I was super stoked when I unlocked the DKJ trophy in SSBM

So far no sign of Donkey Kong Jr, which is too bad. Though he hasn't been seen really since Diddy came along. . hmm..

I bet it would look loke complete shit on a TV anyways, given the quality you've mentioned. Further, I'm thinking they may have done this on purpose so as to not cut into sales of "real" media like DVDs -
Okay, I love this game, I knew I would. The graphical style suits me well enough and of course the gameplay is absolute king. This is quite a bit more challenging than the original so far, largely because they've added a highscore and present collection benchmark to each level. To accomplish both of these requires near perfect execution of each stage and looks to be rewarding as you go forward too. In DK 94, you could collect Pauline's stuff if you wanted to or if you needed more lives, but now in order to unlock hidden upcoming stages, you have to get everything. I also like the way the have mixed it up with the Mini Mario stages and how they add to your life bar in the subsequent DK fight. I could do without the pre-stage tutorials, but you can skip them. Mario has a lot to say in this one if that bugs you (not me as I think it's well used), but all around this game will have a spot in my GBA for a long while to come.. http://www.mariovsdk.com/index.jsp

I must apologize in advance for this....

Short term losses are meaningless. The only number they are after is on the balence sheet at the end of the year. The losses won't be short term unless they increase the price to compensate . If MS was losing $X on systems before the cut, they are now losing $X + $Y to pass the cut to consumers. They may make up for some losses on sheer volume of sales and hence games sales for those systems sold, but probably not much. They are taking a financial hit long term to peddle the hardware Sorry, but this is twaddle. You cant seperate a cost like that from the rest of a business and cite it as a problem in isolation. Peddling hardware is just the catalyst part of the overall equation which generally equates to a very positive positive. That doesn't negate the fact that the #2 and #3 consoles have to suffer losses on their hardware margins just to say "Look we're the #1 console for 1 or 2 months out of 12!" Even if the catalyst igintes a software fire, they are still employing borderline desperate strategies for a little PR and Sony is laughing all the way -
Noiram? I'm picturing an evil zombie Marion and I'm thinking it's about the stupidest thing I've ever imagined. Please tell me I'm way off base

This happened to Cube too, sales spiked after a price slash. I think it's too bad that the leader in the console race is so far ahead that the other two can't come close unless the cut retail prices and take a financial hit. Even then, this will only last a month or two at most -
I think that's a bit much. Considering, like mentioned above you can find an old toaster anywhere and replace the 72 pin yourseld for like $5. The Nes I'm actually using (not the back-up mentioned above) was only $15 complete and I threw in a new pin connector lickety split. The best way to go is to NOT buy your NES from a games dealer. They are always overvalued. Thrifting and flea markets are much better
-
I hate DD 3, all the Double Dragon games that came before and after are much better than this (even DD 5). To me part 3 was always a black spot on the series
-
Does anyone else like these games? I've been really into FF 1 and 2 lately and just recently discovered Mighty Final Fight for NES, which is sort of like the "Pocket Fighter" version. But I must say I can't get enough of this side scrolling beat em up action. Any mayor that kicks ass like Hagar, umm.. kicks ass!

I know. I was trying (rather unsuccessfully) to be sarcastic. Thought you must be joking seeing as half the posts in this thread are fanboy posts
-
Condition is HUGE factor here. Sure, you can find 'em anywhere, but you're fooling yourself if you think half the systems you see are functional. I recently decided I needed a backup system, so I bought a nearly new one at a flea market from a guy who said he got it from and old man, who said he bought it for his grandkids years ago, they played it once and it went in storage. The system almost smells new still, we're talking perfect. He wanted $50 (Canadian), I said no and eventually ended up forking over 40 for an awesome complete Action Set with controllers, hookups, gun, box, all original manuals, Mario/ DuckHunt and he threw in Guerilla War and Baseball Stars to be nice. Personally I was quite pleased with the deal then, and I am even more pleased as time goes by and an NES in that kind of shape gets harder and harder to find
-
I'm not sure either, but I'm thinking Jet Set Radio Future

Thanks man. I don't think I'm fanboyish about Nintendo at all. I prefer Nintendo games, sure but I like other systems fine. Don't let the avatar fool you and please do note that my custom status doesn't start with "Things I hate.." Just please stop telling me about how Mario sucks, and how you're sooo glad you padded Gates' wallet with that $300. It's really messed up. Let's not not cheer as Sega disappears for ever. Let's not take our loyalties to the point where we think people who disagree are idiots. It's nonsense. The problem is not that people are fans of systems, it's when it becomes narrow-minded fanaticism and people start making fun of other people's differences and acting like complete buffoons. If ever I make fun of anyone or criticise their opinions, it won't because I might disagree, it'll be because that person is acting like a jackass
-
Can we please cut out this fanboy / drama queen nonsense? Can't you just say "I'm glad I bought it early because of all the quality time I've spent with it"? Worth every penny? It's like you're proud you spent twice as much as it costs now. Whatever, man you're making my head hurt.

That's a good point and I share that view. I picked my system at launch (actually bought a PS2 at first and then sold it for a GCN when it came out) but I'll stick to it. Sure there are lots of titles you "miss out on", but hey unless you're rich and have no job or family there are lots of good games you're missing out on for any one system, let alone 3. Hell I already own 200+ games across my platforms of choice that I don't get the full and proper experience of, because of time constraints
-
I'll take one too. Though let's be honest about the aesthetic appeal of Miyamoto's face on your wall. A picture of the inner workings of his brain would be nice.... Anyways, I'm picking this game up today, so I'll report back (if I can put it down once I get into it)
-
Prime is definitely a system seller, so you wouldn't be the first. The Cube's undisputed killer app. My advice to anyone who is not a proud owner of MP yet, go now and hunt around a bit, sometimes I can still find the non-Player's Choice version around, still at a discount price
-
The insanity effects in Eternal Darkness'll make you think your on something for real. And the talking in Banjo Kazooie is weird stuff...
-
What's the old adage...? oh yeah, "It's not the band I hate, it's their fans"
-
I don't know, I like to buy them as they are highly collectible. I try not to actually use it the first time through the game and then play through again, picking up all the things I missed. Whenever a Zelda game comes out I always pick up the guide for it to have in the ol' colleciton. Plus it really sucks when you have to play and stare at a computer at the same time. Better to just have a guide on your lap if you need it.

Are these games actually done with clay? Did animators digitise photos of the fighters or was it graphic style meant to look like clay?
-
I've been looking at this, is it just a scaled down re-do of one of the other titles?
