Adventure Island. I love this, but have never been able to get all the way through. So punishing! So frustrating!

Okay now I'm stuck too.
Pretty near the end I think. After defeating Ravage, I warped to Leader's Freehold 2 and revert to Banner form. There is a huge gate at the entrance, but after I open it, 2 of those huge green guys with plasma rifles come charging out and smoke me in one shot. What am I supposed to do?
Thanks in advance

I can't remember how to do this! I can beat the reaper, but when he morphs into a giant skull, I get rocked every time. Alucard is my secondary character and no help as far as I can see.
Got hints?

Lately I've been wondering if there would be any way to get a game that looked *really* cartoon like, rather than just Cel-Shaded. I mean, in some ways the old Simpsons Arcade Game looks more like the cartoon than the more recent games. But a cartoon like the Simpsons has more visual depth than most 2D games. I guess it gets complicated by most cartoons having fewer camera angles, that would influence gameplay.
Just some thoughts.
What about Viewtiful Joe? I think it sort of fits the bill

Gradius III + IV, why, I have thatWhat's the story with Gradius 2? Is it available for NES? I'm not talking Life Force (NES) or Nemesis (GB), but I heard there is a legit Gradius 2, never seen it though

Maybe if it goes $5 lower, I'll bite. Probably $10.Might already be.. the price I'd quoted was in Canadian funds and in my experience, US prices are usually $10 less due to exchange rates

That was also one of WW's biggest negative points (by plenty of gamers, I might add)....that everything was cel-shaded and "cartoon-like".Yeah I know, though with what Mitamoto was looking to accomplish in terms of immersiveness and depth, no current hardware is capable of creating such a rich world with realistic rendering. Plus I can't help but think gamers as we get older forget that Zelda is really just a story book tale and has always been cartoonish anyway. The graphics in OOT are pretty cartoon-like as well, just maybe not as brightly coloured

Zelda WW has the best graphics ever. EVER!! Bonus points for style and depth. I've yet to see a game that looks so plausible, where the graphics bring everything to life so well that you'd swear your TV is a window into a cartoon world. The beauty here too is that you rarely notice the eye candy per se, since it all feels so natural.

Heh, I wonder if something like the Clone Wars game could work with Cel-da style graphics in the spirit of these cartoons?I'd kick a dying old lady for a game like that. I wonder how popular the cartoons are outisde the SW community... if there is enough demand, I'm Lucasarts can churn one out, despite their downward spiral

Anyone not pining for an arcade quality version of Primal Rage is just crazy.

Just as a side note - I don't play on emulators at all ,so I'd have to find the one you're talking about and downlaod it...

Hey reptone, I'm technologically unliterate, but if you can make this easy for me, I'll play with you for sure! A little bit of Super SF 2 or World Heroes would make my day!

I only called the Nintendo Hotline twice way back during the years when the NES was king. Back then' date=' we had to rely on our own SKILL and PERSEVERENCE to finish games, while also keeping an eye out for hints/tips in the gaming mags, speaking to our fellow gaming friends, and calling the occassional hint line. [/quote']So true. If not for the 'counselors' at Nintendo I'd never have found the flute in Adventure of Link

I just got past this part last night. I have always been a huge Hulk fan and I'm right inot this game now. The Banner missions take some heat but really aren't so bad and the Hulk levels rule! This game is awesome at making you feel like you ARE the Hulk. Although a murderous Hulk who gives nary a thought to smashing soldiers into the ground head first, but still awesome!
-
So basically' date=' this is it right? The last R-Type ever, no exceptions?[/quote']Theoretically you're right I beleive. But, there is no such thing as a "no exceptions" rule. If by some chance this title catches fire and goes on to sell a million copies, you can bet your favourite controller that you'll be buying R-Type Final 2 down the road

Does any one like this game? I found this sealed at EB for only $24.99 (Jasoco take note, I know you love those discounts
), but I haven't had a chance to play it yet as I am really caught up in The Hulk. I've read some very good things and some very so-so things, so I can't say. I generally like Sega's work and always love a good platformer, but I'm not sure what to expect here really. Any thoughts?

Anyone like these games?Super Bonk (SNES)
Indeed I do! Not sure how rare this is or any of that tripe, but I found this little baby for almost nothing a few weekends back. Lots of variety / insanity. Little tough to figure out sans book though

their games are still more fun than the other guys.Mmm...not entirely true, I might add!
Is too true! I'm with joey

Did anyone notice the difference in colour enhancements between the GBA and SGB when playing old GB carts?
For example - Adventure Island. Plug this baby into your SGB and the colours look like hell, but if you throw it into a GBA, the colours almost make sense. Like Higgins will be flesh toned, the trees green, etc. Of course it can only apply 4 colours, but the way it selects them seems more 'intelligent' if you will. I've noticed this on a bunch of games, Kid Icarus and Metroid as well.
-
I hope they'll at least make the carts look like miniature NES games. Could be... no one's yet seen the actual cartridges right?

Dark Link is the easiest thing in the game. Just stand near the left of the screen and stab madly. Dark Link will stupidly jump into your blade until he dies and you will take no damage.
