You could use a 2600 cart to hack yourself an adapter or extension.
First FrankEncore cart?

I am going from my memory here and it isn't as good as it used to be but, I seem to remember noticing that the cart port on one of the older 7800 I worked on had gold plated contacts. Perhaps a dirty cart port is the issue on the newer unit?

What you do is wrap the controller cord around the joystick handle section. Then place them face down. The small bump of plastic in the bottom sections of the compartment match up with the insert area on the top of the joystick handle itself. You can fit two in there quite easily, but I'm still wanting to know how the hell you put two controllers plus the power supply in there?
I also have difficulty getting the controllers to fit as the cords want to uncoil and push the lid slightly open. Also, I am using a masterplay interface with a Tac 2 and a rudely hacked CX-52 with tactile switches installed. So, I don't keep anything in that compartment. I just leave that nest of wires and interface hanging out the front of the console.
Now if I had wireless controllers that actually worked....the storage space would be great.

Thanks Wrathchild!
Rainbow Walker on 5200 is a dream come true.
I am playing it with a Tac 2 joystick via the Masterplay interface and that works great.
I wonder if anyone else had noticed that after a game, if you leave the game to cycle between attract and demo mode, the score will creep up?
This is not a fault with the conversion but I believe was in the original since I also noticed this years ago while playing the 8bit computer version.

@InfoMan - I really liked the video and how you showed both 2600 and 800 versions at the same time. Nice job.

I have seen several units with paper and a date like that on. Just one date though. I figured it was an inspection date.

@juansolo: Nicely done! Welcome to Atari Age.

Merry Christmas all.

I had one ... in 1978

So maybe the question you are asking is has anybody recently attempted it.

I like the old hardware myself but my wife got me a Raspberry Pi 3 as an early xmas gift. I tried some 7800 games with Lakka. At first I was not thrilled until I got into the video options and turned on HW Bilinear filtering for a smoother image. Now I can tolerate it.
Still prefer the original hardware though for controller options.

When I switched to a computer other than Atari it was mainly for the convenience of being able to pick up software for the PC at the local store. Also, I thought that knowing how to use a PC would help me with my career. It did.

Black is a good game on PS2. I know you didn't ask but I thought I would point it out in case you happen to see a copy.

How are those pages not dog eared and worn from handling?
My Sears and Wards books, the pages fell out long before Santa arrived.

I went to a retailers website looking for the NES Classic but it was sold out. So, I bought Dishonored 2 for PS4.
My wife then bought me a Raspberry Pi 3 as an early xmas gift. A lot of folks here already know what the Pi can do. I am just finding out what an amazing little device it is.
I still would have liked a NES Classic but, I watched some reviews and I bet I would have been really disappointed by the short controller leads.

As Save2600 said, but I would add to set your meter to a DC voltage range nearest but greater than 5v before trying the test.

Beautiful game Bob.
Nice that Jin decided not to really embarrass me there.

Nice job Jin. I probably won't challenge that score. I about hammered my buttons to death last time.

Voted for Jag. Just feels to me like the one. At least the 5200 and XEGS could parasite some from the 8 bit lines. Jag was out there on its own.

Prepare yourselves. The end is not near!
Atari lives!

The conversion has been up since around Feb...

Observant Aren't I? Thanks for pointing me to it.

Games I want to see for 5200 = all of them.

Especially Rainbow Walker.
A few years ago, I asked someone (I think Steven Tucker) about the possibility of converting Rainbow Walker to 5200. He said he had started on it but the code was some sort of convoluted mess that defied unraveling.

You got a sweet deal there!
Thanks for sharing the pix.
Maybe you will get lucky and find a cuttle cart 2 for $1.99 at that thrift. If so, be sure to also pick up a lottery ticket cause you are on a roll!
I don't think there is a one cart does all flash cart solution on the market today but, maybe someday soon. Otherwise you can get a Harmony cart for 2600 games and a Mateos programmable multicart for 7800 games.
