  1. Just wondering if anyone knows of a word processor for Apple IIe that runs, loads, saves from/to cassette? And also prints of course.
  2. I have an Apple IIe (not enhanced - yet). Anyhow, I have a suncom joystick that I have used with an Apple IIe Platinum. The joystick worked acceptably on the Platinum but doesn't seem to work well for the IIe. I ran a diagnostic program on the IIe that polled the game port and gave values for each pot. What I discovered is that the value would range from 255 to zero but if I went a little farther in the same direction, it wrapped and the value went to max. So, 5..4..3..2..1..0..255 - like that. The result is if I play a game and get excited and move the joystick all the way up it thinks I want to move down. Is this a problem with the controller or with the controller circuitry on the Apple IIe? I can prevent the value from wrapping if I set the adjustments on the controller off center but that also negatively impacts game play. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.
  3. What kind of pal steals your fruit and hides it in the ghost house? Dumb.
  4. Yes. Pac-man is younger in Pac-Man Collection. Seriously though, they are different and while you may think that Pac-Man collection is perfection - The 40th Anniversary Edition is unbelievable.
  5. Get with the times. Replace the smoke cartridge with a vape cartridge. Seriously though, it is probably just a big ole bug roasting on the voltage regulator. Well, that is my guess.
  6. When learning to program the humans it is important to remember that: $ less is c:\ more Pause every now and then to let the humans catch up.
  7. But for the grace of God there go I. Congratulations on your achievement Ray. The longest journeys begin with the first step.
  8. 3D printers don't generally work like color page printers. The color the item comes out depends on the color of material (plastic) that you put in the machine. So someone can use the files attached above to make a blue cartridge just by using blue material in the printer.
  9. I have no plans for any changes to this at this time.
  10. Cool monitor. I guess I have never seen one of those before. Hope you find it a good home.
  11. A 3D printed cartridge shell for your favorite Atari console - the 5200. Fits Atari PCB or Pixels Past PCB. 5200frontshell_v9d.stl 5200backshell_V9d.stl

That is awesome! Thank you so much for creating this. I love it.
  13. Perhaps something like this: https://hackaday.io/project/165992-savekey-plus Might also be of use to you. It is an expansion of the savekey which has mainly been used for saving high scores but could be used for data storage also.
  14. I heard this on Youtube and wanted to share: Compiled languages check for errors before they run the program. They are just holding you back man.
  15. Q: What should I get? A: All the 7800 homebrews Answer was right there in front of you all along.

Are there any pixel artists out there that might want to contribute some piranha sprites? I am thinking the possibility of a water level where the cars would be replaced by piranha. The sprites would need to be 24 pixels wide (or less) and 16 pixels tall and 3 colors (or less) plus transparency. Just fishing for input here. The attached file is just for reference to show the size needed. <------------------ the sprite is that tiny spec LOL. Not sure how to fix that.
  17. The 5200 version is excellent. I enjoy playing that one. Looking forward to the 7800 version.

I have been thinking about the expectation that the frog behave a certain way. I think that is just unfair to frogs in general and especially so for this video frog. I mean, are hedgehogs really that fast? Do they spin dash in real life? Are porcupines zippy? I did some search engine research and according to those results, hedgehogs can run 4 miles per hour. Porcupines can run 6 miles per hour. Frogs can average 10 miles per hour on land and up to 50 miles per hour in water. Plus, not all frogs use the hop and stop method of locomotion - such as the red legged running frog. So if we imagine that Frogus might have a little RLRF DNA in him, he should be able to run circles around those other game critters. Besides, there aren't that many animals that like to catch flies. Considering all that and the fact that I have already created the label art I want to use means I am going stick with the frog on this one.

Frogus would be an odd name for a game about a mongoose. Someone suggested it could be Toader but IMHO that would be toaderly inappropriate. He he. Hmmmm. A commonly recognizable animal you might see on the road that runs and corners quickly... I know - a chicken! LOL. Just having some fun. I will give that some thought. I have to say though, I am partial to the orange (poison dart) frog and frogs do come in many colors. So, that works well for offering color options in the game. A lot of animals do not come in so many or such bright color variations. Thank you for your suggestion.

Fixed a couple of bugs and added another car to dense traffic. Also changed the way the pattern of cars is generated again. Originally, it was entirely random. As soon as a car left the screen another one would be randomly inserted. That made too much work for the 7800. The last post had a field of cars generated randomly but before the game and then it stayed that way until the game was over. This one, gets a new randomly generated field of cars every time the frog crosses the top line or enters a cave/slot (whatever you want to call it) depending on the options you chose. frogus10202022.a78frogus10202022.bin Oh, forgot I also narrowed the road a bit to help prevent frog from easily slipping between lanes of cars. Also, I am open to some color suggestions (mainly for the road). On my emulator these colors look nice. On real hardware, the road is a bit darker but still fine and I could adjust my TV. I noticed though on JS7800 it looks kind of dark - better if I selected the cool light palette. Still, I would be interested to hear people's thoughts.
  21. The sprite (I guess it is Conner) reminds me of a foosball man. What about Conner 7800 Foosball?
  22. This is what I would like to see on 7800:
  23. Excellent suggestions. Thank you both. It is often a long while between times that I program so, still clearing the cobwebs. I appreciate the responses.
  24. This is a routine from Frogus (a Frogger type game) that I am working on (in 7800 basic). There are five lanes of traffic with up to three cars in each lane. Within each lane there are seven slots where a car could potentially be placed. This routine randomly places cars into the slots in each lane. It works but is rather long. I am interested to know if anyone has ideas that might make it more compact? build_cars.txt

Support has ended for previous versions of Frogus. Please purchase a new 7800 and upgrade your software. Just being silly but there is an update. See below. frogus10102022.a78 frogus10102022.bin
