Who's given up on thrift finds (classic games)?
SIO2 replied to video game addict's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It is a shame that it is hard to find this stuff local and cheaply. On the other hand, why would you want to collect things that have no value? Isn't that called hoarding? People placing value on our old games might be a good thing. The stuff that is out there now gets protected in glass cases rather than burried under a box of books and some sporting equipment or recycled or trashed. I had a conversation with a pawn broker many years ago. I was about to leave his store when he asked me what I was looking for and I told him Atari games. He searched around under the counter and pulled out a box with some 2600 stuff and some jag games. I was surprised and happy and got my Tempest 2000 that day. I asked the pawn broker why they were under the counter and not on display. He said Atari is dead man. I won't even take them in anymore - just not worth my time. People have to eat and pay rent and they can't work for free. Life is full of choices and we get to vote for the things we like, the things we want people to produce and stock and preserve. We get to vote with dollars. If we are too stingy or the sellers are too greedy then it ruins the fun. -
I am not sure. I use my 1025 with my 800XL once in a while but don't recall if it does graphics. I usually use an interface and a Panasonic. Besides being faster and better resolution, I can use it with my other old machines like my ST.

Atari 1025 is tractor feed and well built. My sense is that most people back in the day went with third party printers. If you want to keep it all Atari though 1025 is a good printer.

Pac Man default settings except fast mode on. Not for competition but to show support for Bob and his great games.

Surely you will want to use printshop to make your own greeting cards. Interface and an Epson or compatible dot matrix is bliss.

Yep, I had a few water rockets until one landed on mom's car. Here you go Bodyshots - different color is all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toysmith-Deluxe-Water-Rocket-Set-/371236748711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566f6f3da7

My nes keeps blinking with new 72 pin

Flush cut pliers are great to have if you do any system mods. They are also cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electrical-Cutting-Pliers-Jewelry-Wire-Flush-Cable-Cutter-Side-Snips-5-18-AWG-/141491965014?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20f1940c56 -
That is the type of fun stuff we used to do in the good old days. Not any more. I went looking for model cement in the toy isle of W world. Didn't have it. Duh, kids can't have dangerous stuff like non edible glue. What was I thinking.

Awesome. You should really use the real tire shine though cause the off brand just don't last. Ha ha ha! -

Could be. I did 10nes on mine when I had the NES apart to clean the original 72 pin. It works well now. Could be I only needed to clean. -

Plus one for disable lockout chip. I think you would find instructions by a searching the web for 10nes mod. -
Maybe they list things at insane prices just to drive the skinflints and hoarders nuts - see if they can get their blood pressure to pop.

I love spill chuckers but not wild about automatic corruption's.

Probably hoping somebody gets a call and leaves the computer on with their toddler in the room. Whoops what was in my cart!?
-
LOL Fart Cart. If the player messes up in the game, it turns the fart machine on. It could be bigger than the rumble pack.
-
It cleaned up pretty fair I think.

Hey, anybody want to trade for my Chase Chuck Wagon proto or my digish Space Invaders? Just kidding. Tonight I was counting my huge stockpile of mint Chase the Chuck Wagon carts that I have been hoarding for my retirement when I thought of this thread and had an inspiration. Thanks to some legal advice from my good friends here on Atari age I just happened to have some high dollar plastic sheeting on hand. This is what I came up with. Plastic welded cart. That plastic works nice. Sure welds better than cardboard. Yes, I did weld a lid on it not just flip it over for the photo. That would be a cheap trick wouldn't it.

Awesome work. I just found this post. Yours looks much better than the old version. I was just playing the old version and captured the flag.

Games that you just refuse to pay "market value" for
SIO2 replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The world is what it is. The thrift stores used to get stuff for free and sell it for near nothing because they had a charitable mentality. Then some accountants and maybe a few bill collectors convinced Goodwill and others that they are businesses and as such need to maximize their revenues. Ebay being the ultimate market for one man's trash helps all those places maximize their revenue. I hate all the fees, the price inflation and EBay's customer service is terrible. Everyone seems to hate those things about Ebay. Yet Ebay keeps on going. I happen to live in a very sparsely populated area. I don't often find Atari stuff in shops or yard sales. So even though I have literally been hopping mad at EBay several times, I do understand that they provide some valuable services. -
I like it! Good job Chas10e.
