  1. I am sure many will disagree but price doesn't matter. What matters is if you want it and if you could get your money back if you sold it. If you can sell it and recover your investment then it is money in the bank. I never buy games expecting to make money. I buy them because I want them and I want to play them. It is nice though if they go up in value because then I can use them to get more games. The vast majority of my games have not increased in value but I think most are still worth what I paid. If they all lost value I wouldn't enjoy the hobby much.
  2. If the console plays other games fine, I would concentrate more on cleaning the cart. If the cart is super super bad, I have used a plastic type scouring pad (like scotch brite) gently on the cart contacts. I used a wooden craft stick to press gently on the scouring pad while running the pad over the contacts. This is a second to last resort because it can scratch the inside of the plastic shell or pull off a contact (be careful). Last resort would be open the cart so you can work the contacts well with scouring pad. But opening Atari carts usually means damaged label since many have a screw hidden under the label.
  3. I don't know. Did you give it the smoke test?

    Shoot the UFO 2015

Thanks guys. Glad to hear it is working for you. Here is a little update. The two main changes are fixed some bugs with my collision checking and now the game restarts the asteroids after player dies in order to prevent possible double hit on the player. I am also including the source code for anyone who wants to get their feet wet with 7800 Basic or who might want to change some little thing about Stufo15 to suit their taste. stufo15e.a78 stufo15e.bin Stufo15e.zip
  5. If there is anyone out there waiting to develop software for the 7800 because they don't have a convenient way to test on real hardware, please don't put it off any longer. 7800 emulation under MESS seems to be spot on and 7800 Basic makes it very easy to program the 7800. I have read some threads on Atari Age where people were talking about the 7800 being a difficult machine to program. Not so any longer. They have done a fantastic job with 7800 Basic.
  6. What about .org or another dot? .Orgs can be fun.

    Pacmanplus

Thanks Bob for everything you did for 7800. Many a night I have dreamt of the day I might make a game as good as yours. I doubt I ever will. You set the high mark. Whatever you decide to do, be blessed and know that you are appreciated.
  8. .A78 works on MESS. Tested the .BIN on a DevOs Modified 7800 and it worked there. Free ship each 5000 points. Wait two seconds before trying to press fire on startup screen. Then you may need to press more than once. stufo15.a78 stufo15.bin
  9. Hard choice. Pads work great for some games but I could not live without a joystick for Pacman, Ms., Jr., etc. So, joystick gets my vote. Now, I just hope it is a quality stick like 500xj, TAC 2, Wico, Competition Pro.
  10. Mark IV : Codename = Unlimited Refills Timeshare worked really well but wasn't 100% new construction and I don't like the face being open. Unlimited Refills is constructed of .06 styrene plastic sheet and popsicle sticks. It opens like a wallet to allow exchange of cart PCB while also looking more like a traditional cart, allowing for a label and keeping the PCB covered. This could easily be built in 6 pieces of plastic. I used wood in places just because it was easier for me to shape. If the PCB carrier and side pieces were die cut, assembly would be a snap. This hand built one was a challenge to cut without a hot knife. It is ugly inside but not too bad outside. This is probably my last go at this. I think it proves there are options besides injection molding. Oh yes. Almost forgot. This is an experimental design. Do not try this at home.
  11. It seems like Atari used to put something in their manuals about this system will bring you years of enjoyment. They didn't lie. Running for a day is nothing as long as it wasn't super hot in the room.
  12. This is a 48k ram cart only for use with your DevOs .2 modified 7800. Asking $40 which includes shipping to any one of the 48 contiguous United States.
  13. Mark III : Codename = Timeshare One shell I can swap my PCBs in and out. Experimental design only. Do not try this at home.
  14. All controllers produced the same result as attached image with no buttons pressed. Interestingly if I pressed the left button on a 7800 joypad, inpt1 becomes 80 and when I release the left button inpt1 returns to 00 but, inpt2 begins to toggle. The display updates very quickly so I am not sure of the value but it looks like inpt2 toggles from 00 to 08 or 0A or 0F (something with a bar on center of character). If I press the left button again inpt2 stays on 00. Actually I just figured this out. I had been using a controller extension cord before (was not plugged in for the utility cart tests). When I try smasteroids demo without the extension cord, it works. Sorry. I guess the extension cord only expects 2600 one button controllers.
  15. I tried Adventurer. Same result. My single button joysticks work but my control pads don't fire. The control pad directions all work. Just no fire buttons. I tried a 7800 proline joystick. No fire in 7800bas games. So, it looks like it is a two button vs one button issue.
  16. I tried the smasteroids demo from 7800bas by uploading it to my DevOs .2 modded 7800. I get a strange result. It works fine except the ship doesn't fire if I use either an Atari 7800 joypad or a modded Nintendo pad. Both controllers are known to work and play other games on this same console. The ship does fire though if I plug in an epyx 500xj, or a gemstick or a wico stick. I have been playing with the debounce routine in smasteroids but keep getting the same result. Any ideas why this is or what might be done to get it to accept most controllers?
  17. Thank you for the article link. I apologize and will never use their box for anything other than priority mail. That is a sincere public apology from me to everyone here and the post office. I really appreciate their service and I know a lot of people try to cheat them. I never meant to. I thought it was just garbage. Now I know better.
  18. I didn't realize the software situation for Xbox one was so bad that people were out begging for someone to program it.
  19. Don't open it. Bury it in a time capsule so that 1000 years from now someone will dig it up, open it and wonder why it won't fit in their Atari.
  20. So are you all lawyers in this forum? Cause I got this thing with some unpaid parking tickets, a three legged dog that bit me and a drunken prostitute who also bit me and I could use some help.
  21. I got it out of the trash after it had been mailed. That's called recycling. Hey I was trying to save the Earth. Yeah, you are welcome. I suppose I could still ship it somewhere by priority mail - someday. Or just put it back where I found it.
  22. 13" orion crt for Ataris. 13" durabrand crt for Nintendos. Got some spares too.
  23. The foil thing works while the adhesive holds. I never tried krazy glue. I have used double sided tape with success. Best is the way to go if you have the money or if you don't want to fiddle with the small bits of foil.
  24. Cartwich Mark II - Code name: Icecream Sandwich Do not try to reproduce this. It is an experimental design intended for entertainment only. Any claims of suitability for any purpose are complete BS.
  25. Rare, one of a kind, deluxe collector's mock early prototype of arcade legend Pacman for the eternally great Atari 2600 VCS home video game system.
