  1. I once owned a CRT that would reproduce a fuzzy image of whatever was on the screen of another CRT nearby. It only worked when the two CRTs were within a few feet of each other. I never used it for any covert activity. I figured it would be too hard to explain to the neighbor why I had an extension cord strung across his yard and was watching TV outside his window.
  2. With or without a list I am waiting and dreaming. Sometimes imagine I can almost see Concerto standing proudly in the cartridge port of my battle weary 7800 glowing like a new flag on a rusty and bent pole. Then I see the hands on the clock on the wall start turning like fan blades blowing a gust which causes the image of Concerto to disperse like the fog of my breath on a cold winter morning. If only spring would come and with it Concerto.
  3. That does look awesome. Thanks for posting.
  4. Been there. It is tough when you are going through it but you need to see it as an opportunity. Looking back, I much prefer life and wife 2.0 to version 1. Good luck with your upgrade. Best wishes to you.
  5. Where is the link to order the 7800 version?
  6. Awesome! I am going to play Atari today.
  7. My picks for Saturn: Sega Touring Car Championship with the Sega analog controller. I love the analog triggers. Blazing Dragons. Very funny and fun game.
  8. The auction prices listed above are probably reasonable plus it is "Made in USA." I would add five bucks for that.
  9. I got the Rainbow TOS 1.4 chips installed and reassembled the ST. I did not do the Exxos mod since I was not sure where to place the caps. The 1040STf boots properly but shows no hard drive until I press the reset button. Then, the 1040STf boots and shows a hard drive on the desktop. Afterwards, I can access the hard disk (Satan Disk SD card) and copy files to it and load programs from it. The double boot seems clunky but it works and is repeatable so, I guess I can live with it.
  10. For that one particular game, it may have been an improvement. At least there was some fast paced action drawing my attention to the screen. I can not say that for original 2600 pac man. If you have not already, check out the new pac man for 2600 thread.
  11. Thank you both for the help. I opened my 1040STf, located the TOS chips and ordered a set to upgrade to rainbow TOS 1.4. Regarding the Exxos DMA capacitor fix, this is the site I found on the subject:http://exxos.www.idnet.com/IMPULSE/atari/last/gigafile/index.htm At the bottom of that page it shows where to solder the caps on the STFM. However, my STf has a different layout. On my board, U51 looks like RAM. I assume the cap on CO25913-38 would be the same. Does anyone know where I would put the other cap on the CO70523-001 Rev.D board?
  12. I purchased a used Satan Disk (original not Ultra Satan). It came with two SD cards that have been prepared for use with the Satan. One SD card is 256mb and the other is 512mb. This is the original Satan disk which has only one SD slot so I can only use one card at a time but both cards have the same results. The seller said he had used this Satan with a 520stfm and a Mega 4 and that it worked on both those machines. I was hoping to use the Satan with my 1040STf which has TOS 1.0 (I assume 1.0 since the desktop info just says TOS and Copyright 1985). When I try to boot the ST with the Satan attached and an SD card inserted, the yellow LED on Satan (access light?) flickers once. The ST boots up but does not show a hard drive. Often but not always, if I then press the reset key on the back of the ST, the yellow light will flicker twice and the 1040STf will boot to show a hard drive. When I try to access the hard drive, it shows as being empty. When I try to copy a file from floppy to the hard drive it shows a dialog that says Can not find the folder you tried to access. In researching the possible problem, I noticed that the literature says the Satan has been tested with TOS 1.02 and several later versions but it does not say that Satan will or will not work with TOS 1.0. Is TOS the cause of the problem with my Satan or what else should I be looking at? Should I upgrade TOS and if so, which version should I aim for?
  13. DINTAR816: I just downloaded and played this game. Please add my thanks to the pile of praise you have already received. This is a great version of Pacman that I will enjoy playing for a long time to come. Thanks for sharing this game.
  14. I don't smoke crack either. Your post was fine. I was just joking with you. My suggestions were meant to be ridiculous. I have one of those clones. They work but I think some people would still buy a Nintendo branded version. Probably won't make or break the company though.
  15. So I offered my advice for free to a company that made billions selling games about an elf with a magical fairy friend and a plumber that rides a yoshi which eats turtles and spits fire. That company might be bought out by another company that has made billions from selling movies about a talking mouse. Yet I am the one on crack? Nice. See if I answer any of these posts again. But to answer your question: No, get your own pipe.
  16. If I were running Nintendo I would release a new NES toploader. This is clearly where the money is since used NES top loaders seem to bring about three times as much as a brand new Atari Flashback 5. Then I would release a 3D droid tablet (Nintendroid 3D). Next, I would diversify into adult entertainment and toys. They already got the sound track down for adult films (Wii U Wii U WiiU). Finally, I would release a soft foam covered controller for the Nintendroid 3D called Uwii. Advertising: Uwii - you want to touch this baby More Advertising: Play Donkey Kong Donkey Show today and win a free rumble pack remote for him or her.
  17. I was also thinking The Atari Landfill or perhaps The Atari Resurface. It should have a pack in game called E.T. vs ALF.
  18. Thanks. I didn't know there were two versions. My 1010 was the Chelco pos.
  19. The play button on my 1010 broke about 1985. I may have accidently left the 1010 on the dash of the DeLorean when I time jumped thus causing the buttons to age and brittle. I love, love, LOVE ATARI but, 1010 was not their best work. The capital of Nebraska is Lincoln if that helps

  21. Is the 1010 capable of reliable operation? I bought mine new. I wouldn't say it was ever reliable. If you have not experienced tape drives and really want to, great. Then you will understand how those of us who only had tape drives suffered back in the day. I gutted my 1010 and used it to house an SIO2SD. 1010 makes a great shell for the SIO2SD. I mounted it so that I can see the LCD through the cassette door.
