All, I have an Atari 4160STE and a Ultrasatan, How do I get the machine to boot to medium resolution instead of having to set it every time? Thanks!

Yes ... I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Yes I have searched. Many replies insinuate a level of knowledge I do not have. I have APE. can anyone simply provide in simplest terms what to do. Again much appreciated.

How do I take an .XEX file and write it to floppy to play on real hardware? Also, how do I create a menu so I can add multiple .XEX files. Thanks guys, Mark

I have an ultra. I want the ability to write msa (or whatever format) to floppy. Maybe I am nostalgic.... but believe it or not, the magic and imagination and wonder that I remember as a young man and child is in the 8-bit and ST systems. I want this experience for my kids. The world today that I believed in yesterday has become a joke. The people we are today, at least in my demographic are those that dreamed and had imagination....intestinal fortitude, we remember taking tubes to radio shack to test and replace. As I said in my original post, is there anyway, or anyone who can take windows 10 and write ST games back to a USB floppy? If not so be it.... this is the best forum for our "yesterday" machine that provided us so many and obviously a special many years that bond us together today on this forum. Thanks in advance!!!

Guys, My PC died and I have upgraded to a windows 10 machine (MAINGEAR) the unit obviously no longer has a floppy so I purchased an external USB unit...... Which I now read won't work. Can someone in simple step by step instructions tell me what I need or what I can do so I can again write st games back to floppy using my windows 10 pc. Thank you guys all very much in advance....

All, I finally figured out how to write an .img file to SD card. Does anyone have a good few .img games? I have not got the partitioning down yet and have wasted much space on my 14 gig SD cards. any help appreciated

since the unit was "warranted" I asked him if I could open it and do the reseat, he said no and to send it back. Long story short... customer support and or satisfaction are apparently diluted by his volume. I can assure you in my line of work... he would be a "unused" vendor at the 1st instance of attitude. I am sure this will bite him in the end... literally.

how do I get an .img file onto the SD card. The SD card is recognized as it was preconfigured apparently by Loathrek on my ST but the when insterted into the PC it says that it needs to be formatted. please advise!!!

finally received my 4160STE from Best... I will say this.. I will not do any more business with them, I can do without the attitude. On another front, how can I tell what version of TOS I have? How can I verify that I have 4 meg installed... I definitely do not have TOS 2.06. thanks guys

I sent it back before checking the control panel (like a dumb ass)... it has been so long that I have forgotten all of the options... thanks for the help!!

the configurator only lets me select the rs232 option... that's where it detects on com 3 but states driver unable to load... using usb mode only

guys, the pro system does not see any drives. the configuration in ape see's it on com3..however it says unable to load r232 driver, usb mode only enabled. is this a simple case of I must have the usb version or am I missing something...... please help I am "F"ing lost. thanks in advance!

oh.. the system I got is serial. I had to get a serial to USB conversion cable.. my PC does not have a serial connection

if I want to get an atr image back on floppy what exactly would the process be... I assume that the chain you described above is a fact that I must maintain.. in other words... I cannot use my pc to 1050 stand alone.. the Atari cpu must be inline as it is the power for the interface correct? thanks again!!

okay... so I do need another sio cable... so until I get another cable I cant do anything correct?

All, I just got my setup from atarimax. I only have one sio cable from my happy 1050 to the Atari 800xl. to use the sio2pc and be able to move fatr files back to floppy, I would need another sio cable correct? as the sio2pc must be powered by the Atari 800 itself? in other words, it must be daisy chained? the sio2pc will not work direct between the pc and the Atari? if so can someone give me a dumbed down set of instructions to make this happen... I do not find the software intuitive... please help a blind guy out!!!

guys, I sent back the STE and my replacement arrived.... this one has no audio!!!!! I have the RGB cable from Best and jacked it into my stereo... no sound. I have rca jacks from the STE to audio in on my stereo... no sound. On the STE I sent back.. audio worked fine. any ideas on how or what to look at? I really do not want to send this back again!! on another note, does audio come from the monitor port or does it come from the rca jacks... does audio come from what ever is detected as hooked up? when I had it set up last time.. both were hooked in and audio worked... I have gone as far as only having one or the other hooked this time.. no dice. I do get an audible humming noise from the VGA cable, so I ascertain that audio if commin from the VGA cable.... but why not the RCA ports? no hum no nothing....... any help appreciated. frustrated!!!!

let me understand this.. I have downloaded the sd image file... can I copy it straight to the sd card or do I have to format the card 1st? camn you give me a step by step for dummies walk through on exactly what I need to do... I am totally ignorant. thanks!
