  1. This is my first time doing this, but I could use a bump and a little advice.
  2. Good news: another lynx emulator has been released for the Game Park. It is 50% faster than what is out otherwise, but still unplayable. I think and hope that this emulator will be improved on more in the near future (keep your fingers crossed)
  3. I have been thinking about getting a GP32 lately and decided to ask AA: "is it worth it to a guy that loves gadgets, semi-classic games, and has the last stop on the bus every day?" Also, how does it play (in terms of picture, sound and speed quality w/o overclocking mods) I am especially interested in emulators for the NES, Genny, SNES (I know that ones not 100% perfect, but oh well) GG, GB/GBC, and atari 2600. I heard that there will be a newer version that allows 256mb SMCs and included drivers. Is that still gonna hapen? If so, when? Finally, are the movie playing capabilities any good? What about MP3s? I appreciate any feedback.
  4. damn that was fast, I was just about to say never mind, I saw the 5 bundles
  5. If this question is frowned upon, I apologize. (Al or CPUWIZ or whoever: if you feel the need to delete this, go ahead) Could I get each 2600 rom AA has on one zip? I am planning on getting a GP32 and would like to have just about every game on it in a SMC or 2
  6. [/quote=CPUWIZ]Are you referring to the capacitor post ? I would be sending about 50 PM's just for moved posts a day. Yeah, that's the one. I found it fairly easily but didn't get to asking yet. If it's too much of a hassle, that's ok (I cant make you anyway)
  7. When a subject gets moved to another forum would it be possible to have a PM sent to the creator of the message?
  8. I got the caps, and because I am an idiot who hasn't had an electronics class yet, I need to ask this question: is parallel when you have one cap and then another or when you have 2 wires coming from each point and a cap at each wire? or am I a complete moron and it is something else?
  9. The 2600 needs a .068uF cap for the paddle, which I desoldered for a project I am working on, but one of the wires sticking out popped off. If anyone has a broken VCS and wouldn't mind sending me that cap, please PM me.
  10. when you need a capacitor for something, is it ok to use one that has a greater uF value than what you need? I need a .068 uF capacitor but I can't find them at radio shack
  11. The Vagabond is great. The thing is that I don't think it's for sale (he puts that on the news section of his site) That's because one button is for the paddle, and the other is for the joystick (they each use different pins on the stella/riot chip)
  12. I can and will respect that. I got a PM from someone asking if I could mod his 2600 for AV, and I would like to figure something out on that one. (but no other ones) ... and a partridge in a pear tree...
  13. Has anyone made a lynx emulator for the gamepark? if so, is it any good? where can you download one?
  14. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: the gp32 The features it has are incredible. Once the genny emulator comes out I gotta get one.
  15. Does anything happen when you turn it on? If not, you probably didn't ground it.
  16. I have done an AV mod once already, and it looks pretty good (but I will admit, not the greatest). I will try to get some screenshots of it in the near future. I guess I could ask this instead: "would you try to stop me if I tried to sell AV mods?" or even "would you hold some huge grudge against me?" I am more than willing to do these ones, but there doesn't seem to be too much demand for these. I agree that an affordable portable 2600 would be cool, but it would take a lot more time to make each unit. Also, Ben Heckendorn, maker of the original VCSp, updated his site recently saying he is considering making kits for people to buy, probably for a decent price. I cannot blame you at all for saying that, so I can make this compromise: you would sell the quality mod and I can make the cheaper "budget" mod as mine shouldn't cost too much. If you disagree to this, I have no non-hypocritical choice but to step away from AV mods.
  17. I am back now, and now that Chris is a part of this post, I feel as though I should ask him: "would you mind if I sold some of my AV mods, or are you really against competition?"
  18. Wouldn't this be a little too expensive with shipping costs? Plus, there's probably no way of telling whether a jr. bought on EBay is a 3 or 1 chip version... I think many (again, including me!) here were putting hopes in some kind of a mod-kit.. would you consider this? That's true. I will consider it, and I think the odds are pretty good of that happening as well as the method mentioned before. If this was done, everyone would need a soldering iron and some solder. Those doing the AV mod would need a dremel and some way of keeping the circuitboard stable (such as well-applied electrical tape or epoxy). Also, please leave any feedback you may have, whether about mod ideas or questions, but I am going to be gone for a few days, so if you don't get a response, do not think I abandoned this project.
  19. When you put you mouse over the forums link in the upper right corner, you see a picture above it. What the heck is that supposed to be?
  20. I've got a couple suggestions for you: First, buyers generally like to know what games are included, and if lemmings is a part of it someone will want to buy it pretty quickly. Second, there is a marketplace forum meant for selling any item you have that is atari related. If this post isn't here in the near future, it is probably in that forum.
  21. I was planning on modding ataris sent to me, and if I ruin it (I doubt I would, the soldering is pretty easy to do) I will refund all money paid. If I modded NES advantages, however, I would buy them and send them out. Another option is that if you want to buy a 2600 on ebay you could have the seller send it directly to me first and then I would send it to you after I mod it.
  22. I can do MOST juniors (see below) but I cannot make a dual mode without decent instructions for any atari. That would be cool, but it would be expensive as well. I would need to do a little bit of research, but I think that is a possibility (Hard to say for sure as the 5200 stick is analog, while the 2600 is digital.) I was already planning on an LED as one of the mods available, I just forgot to mention it in the last post. Sure. I would rather not have a built in one, but an external one would work out just as well IMO Unfortunately, I think it would only work on the NTSC models, but if the mobo looks the same, I could give it a try (but I can't guarantee anything) I know I can get it working on a 4 switch woodgrain, a 6-switcher, and a 3-chip junior. I think I could get it working on a vader or a heavy 6er, but I am not 100% sure. I know the kind used in the originals, and with a hacksaw and file, i can get it to fit in the original paddle wheel. The range of the pot is greater than the range of the atari (meaning the catchers on kaboom are all the way to the left when you can still turn it a little more) but it still works very well. Also, if you have a junior and you want an AV mod, make sure it is a 3 chip version. To check you can flip the junior over, check the lower right side vents and see which one it looks like in this picture.
  23. So far I have come up with the following mods (only one is to the 2600, but I was thinking I would try these anyway): 1. An AV mod with luma/chroma, S-video, and composite outputs (unless Chris has some huge objection, then I think we could figure something out) 2. Jitter free paddles (by replacing the potentiometer, not just cleaning it) 3. An NES advantage usable on the 2600 Would any of you guys buy one of these? If so, what kind of a price do you think would be reasonable? Also, how could a no-solder version be possible? I cannot see how it would be attatched otherwise, unless an RF modulator is plugged into the RF output. I like the idea of a dual type 2600, (between NTSC and PAL) but I would need some instructions how.
  24. I have started to enjoy modding things and have realized that the 2600 is easy to do several things. I later started to think "Why not make a little money doing this?" and decided to make modded things on and/or for the 2600, such as an NES advantage that works on the NES or the atari, compoite audio/video ataris (I know that was mentioned before, but the person that started that post hasn't done any updates for a while so I think he may have given up) If you could think of any kind of mod that you would want or think would sell, what would it be?
  25. I got lucky and got one for $5 with a broken ac adapter (but I already had one from my front loader) and got a dogbone for a few bucks more
