  1. Some people at a sister church in Nicaragua are coming up to my church in the states, and I'll be assisting with light translating. Also, I figure that another Spanish speaker in an English-speaking world can only help Unas personas a una iglesia en Nicaragua van a venir a mi iglesia en los estados, y voy a atender con (ay, no recuerdo el verbo "translate" ) y hablar español con ellos. and, for the fun of it and practice (y, porque estaría divertido y practicar) (best I can do )
  3. Muchas gracias, Wonder007, me ayudó mucho
  5. I really do think this guy is just trying to get attention, personally
  6. you can always desolder the cart slot then reattach with a ribbon cable if you need everything to align. Same goes with the Joysticks and stuff.
  7. well, you could always make your own, you know Check out the forums a bit, there's some good info there. In fact, I made a good sticky in the 2600 forums, too. Spongebue(ll)
  8. mine was a 2600 that I didn't play very often, along with a pong I broke pretty quickly. I still have the 2600, though
  9. lol, I just thought that would be best for a 6 button layout, especially if you are playing Genesis games on it. Also, I do have a coin in button, but it's hidden
  10. When I was born, the Atari Age (the age of the Atari, not the website) was just ending, and that's what I would play when I could actually play games. We also had a pong unit that didn't get much attention. One day I decided that I wanted a better system, so I decided that if I changed the switch on that box plugged into the wall my dad said gave power to it (that is, the adapter) I may have the sega genesis I wanted. (more power=better games, right?) It fried it
  11. Thanks a lot For the monitor, I used an older computer monitor my dad got from a neighbor, since it sucks for all other purposes (it's kinda blurry, but you can't tell with lower resolutions and graphics stuff) For the controls, I have a few gamepads I hacked, and used Joy2Key to convert the buttons to keystrokes. I don't really have too many menu buttons, but there are a few hidden ones above the coin slot under the control panel for escaping games and freeplay. spongebue
  12. ah, but they all match, and you can tell what's what based on the layout... so there!
  13. Except for a new marquee, "it" is done. Its name is simple (The Mame Arcade) but it does a lot, including Jukebox, SNES, Genesis, NES, SMS, 2600, and, of course, MAME This is a picture of the cabinet a couple days before I picked it up several months ago, as you may remember here. Now, I've redone the thing, paint and all (except for the marquee, but that'll come soon ) and here it is:
  14. I'm not quite ready to say what exactly "it" is, but it's coming. Be afraid. Be very afraid. spongebue
  16. while we're on the subject of PMs (not PMS, mind you, that's a completely different story) is there any way to have it track a message by default? I keep on forgetting to do that, and it's not like it hurts to have it on... it makes me wonder why there is even an option to have it off in the first place.
  17. that is a pretty good story actually, that reminds me of a similar story (but not nearly as good) that I thought I'd throw in this thread. I recently finished (well, there are a few things to do still) my MAME cabinet (pics coming soon ) and my grandma was over a couple days ago. This is a woman that barely knows what a video game is, and has never even played pong. Well, when she was over I got her to play a quick round of Ms. Pac Man. She didn't do that well (didn't get past the first level, lol) but you could tell that she was having at least a little fun playing a video game for the first time, chomping up the dots but not the ghosts, unless they were all dark blue. ok I'm done, bring the attention back to therealred5 now spongebue
  18. Of course, it's Al's site and his decision, but here's what I ask: 1. no popups, especially those that get by popup blockers 2. nothing too distracting 3. no "click here to continues" as others have mentioned 4. Please, no sounds other than that, I'm not too picky, I think it would be nice to make a bit more than "even"
  19. If you do get a GP32, check out the site I work on with another guy I know on the internet: http://gptheatre.co.uk
  20. I *think* I heard that you can plug a USB thumb drive into a PS2 and use it as a memory card
  21. True, you may find yourself randomly making cookies. Wait, maybe that's not such a bad thing after all
