Well, bills need to be paid, so after selling my Battlesphere, I'm probably going to be selling my Atari 5200 Bounty Bob. It is the loose cart in good condition, with photo copy of the map and instructions, and I made a "repro" box, from scanning the box for the Atari computer version. It's actually in a plastic box with the box artwork in a wraparound sleeve. I know a version in the original box is worth a fortune. Feel free to PM me an offer. It'll probably end up on eBay tonight but if I get an offer from here that's acceptible, I'll stop the auction, as long as you can pay immediately with Paypal. I need the cash ASAP. I also will probably be listing my Vectrex with Sean Kelly's multicart 2.0 with 60 games (61 if you count the built-in game Mine Storm), Mine Storm 2 on a seperate cart, and a 2nd brand new controller in a box. Again, feel free to make offers.

Congrats! Pac-Man was my first arcade game to own, too! I got it in summer 2004, and now I'm up to 17 games! I'm warning you, like a friend warned me after I got my first one- they're addictive!

Mine. I sold my Battlesphere Gold and Protector 1st edition already, but more rare games might be up this week thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...DME:B:TB16:US:4

Hmmm... no Intellivision or Colecovision, and they jump right from the Atari 2600 to the Jaguar, with no mention of other Atari systems represented Doesn't sound like a very comprehensive exhibit. -

I know that that was there last year, but I thought the exhibit ended by Fall of last year. It looks like they're bringing it back, calling it 2.0: http://www.msichicago.org/ BTW, I find it interesting that they are including MAME in the exhibit -
Trading "tapes" - Old schoolers need only apply
tillenterprises replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 2600
Well, I'll be the oddball here and say that I don't remember my friends or myself ever calling them tapes or carts, but I'm pretty sure we just referred to them as "games." -

Battlesphere Gold (& poss. other rare Jag games)FS
tillenterprises posted a topic in Auction Central
Well, I didn't want to do this, but I may have to part with my copy of Battlesphere Gold. I bought it new a few years ago, and it comes with all the original pack-in stuff, JUGS, demos, etc. The box, manual and everything is in mint condition, and has been kept in a plastic bag for protection all this time. I've only seriously played the game probably about 5 times. I will be putting it up on eBay, unless I get any serious offers from here in the next day or so, . I know a recent auction for the regular Battlesphere (not Gold) just went for $460 on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/Battlesphere-Atari-Jag...1QQcmdZViewItem So, serious offers only, and immediate payment with Paypal is required. I have a 688 positive feedback on ebay and my seller name is tillenterprises, if you want to check out my feedback before making an offer. Please P.M. or e-mail me at with any offers. I'll wait until Wednesday evening before listing it, but will continue to entertain offers while the auction is ongoing, and can always end the auction early if the price is right. Thanks again! BTW, I'm thinking of parting with a few other rare Jaguar games, too, like Towers II, Soccer Kid, Hyper Force, and Skyhammer. Let me know if you're interested in any of these. -
Systems you stopped collecting (and no regrets)
tillenterprises replied to RangerG's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Interesting topic- it seems like a lot of collectors recently are starting to feel the urge to downsize.... The only systems I really actively collect for are Atari (any system), Intellivision, and Colecovision, since those were the ones I grew up on- anything from the early 80's, or with the Atari name on it is my favorite stuff. I just sold about 60% of my NES collection, since I never got really into the NES when it was new (at that point in my life, I had discovered girls), so I was a latecoming to collecting for the NES, and never really got into most of the games. They just seemed too similar- run, jump, shoot, etc.. I kept several of the games I liked and got one of the superjoy things to keep me busy with NES stuff if I want. I also just sold my Virtual Boy, and sold my Turbografx before I even had more than one game for it- I just didn't feel like having to start a whole new collection for yet another system. I used to walk into thrift stores and just grab any game I didn't have for any system, but quit doing that and most of the time now I walk out empty-handed. Perhaps when I started getting into collecting full-size arcade games, that helped kill alot of my indiscriminate console collecting. -
I have a friend here in the Milwaukee area, who actually has one in great condition- (I think he actually had two of them at one point) He might be able to help you out on yours, too. His website is: http://www.hermitcreek.com/Arcade/default.asp

At the beginning of new maze, move right and up, so you're facing up on the right side of the "T-shape" wall. Just stay there- the ghosts will never find you. Works on Pac-Man Plus, too. It was useful back in the arcade days if you had to take a bathroom break!

Well, whoever is responsible for this game being pulled, thanks alot! I was just going to order my copy this morning, bugs or no bugs. I just learned of the existence of this game last week from these message boards, and was excited at the idea that finally... almost 25 years later, we have a home console version of Gorf that contains all 5 stages. By the way, I already own a real Gorf arcade machine, so I have every legal right to own the rom, as well. I wonder, if the game was pulled due to copyright issues, if it was because of the Galaxians level being included- same reason it wasn't included in the home versions back in the early 80's.

Heh. I'm going to give you the "long-story" version of this. I'm a Xevious fanatic. When I was a kid, there was a 7-11 where we used to go and well... loiter... I'd say I was 14 or 15. Anyhow, I spent a lot of time there, in various altered states, playing Xevious and chewing 5 cent apple bubblgegum to get rid of a terminally dry mouth, that year. So... this whole retro thing kind of stems from that. I guess about 1997 or so I discovered MAME and found the Xevious ROM... then I found Stella, and whatever 5200 and Coleco emulators were around back then... Callus... I downloaded them all, and all the ROMS I could find... and shortly discovered that the PC experience *sucked*... right away I knew the problem was with the controls more than anything else. At that point... it seems like controllers were a DIY project that was just beyond me to come up with a decent alternative. But through the years between then and now... I've tried a variety of solutions. I'm sure I had old-school versions of Xevious along the way, too... predating MAME (C=64, Amiga, Atari ST)... But I bought Microsoft Revenge of Arcade (Mrs. Pac Man, Mappy, Xevious... all the usual suspects that get bundled together). I figured, Microsoft will find a decent control solution using PC joysticks. I was wrong... Then I tried the Xevious 3D program for the PS-1... thinking, "Well, with the built in joystubs and a dedicated console controller, maybe Xevious will be better"... and I was wrong... Then I tried the Jakks version... going, "This one *IS* a joystick. They couldn't possibly screw THIS up"... but they did... I was so upset about THAT... I wrote Jakks Pacific a big nasty letter going, "Listen... the people who are interested in these games are nostaligic, but they're saavy. You keep peddling this kind of crap, and you're going to kill what could be a great market. Do it *right*, and you'll find that guys like myself are willing to pay a premium for your products, not the $19.99 price point that you're marketing at right now"... So then the wireless Jakks Pacific version came out for $39.99, and promised improved control. So I bought it... and it was *better*... but still pretty disappointing... And at some point, I decided I wanted an arcade style joystick... so I looked for something for the PC... and amazingly, other than the high end and expensive units... there is NOTHING that is "consumer grade" but traditional button mashing joystick with a ball layout. That I could find, anyhow. So I remembered the Xevious on Xevious 3D on my PS-1. So I did an eBay search, and this came up... It is called a PS-Arcade by Interact (that would have been the short answer to your question)... and it rocks. Especially being that I paid $10 with shipping for it after picking it up for a high bid of $4. http://www.vidgames.com//ps/hardware/psarcade.html (I'm even happier now that I see what the stick still retails for). But Xevious on the PS-1, although it is a pretty faithful translation... still left me unsatisfied. The colors and sounds and gameplay were all REAL close... but not perfect. The Revenge of Arcade version was far more accurate (and is probably the actual ROM running on an emulator engine), and I knew MAME was far more faithful too... But... I was satisfied enough... Until this Christmas, at Target, I came across the Retro deal they were selling for $499 with Robotron, Defender, Wizard of War, etc. I played it for a few minutes and although it has gotten generally horrible reviews... I thought it was a pretty cool idea for the size of a small suburban gameroom. Jakks style controllers, tiny and HORRIBLE little monitor... but I played Robotron and Wizard of War and caught the bug again... So I went out and bought an X-Arcade dual stick control panel, and I'm busy putting together a cabinet right now, and I'm going to make my own MAME cabinet. And while I was researching stuff on the MAME cabinet, I stumbled across the Atari Flashback II... which looked like the right price for an EXCELLENT product. So I bought it... and it was... which made me decide I needed to finally quench my search for an Atari 5200. Around the same time I decided to clear out a lot of the stuff in my garage, too... which I'm still trying to do. Another weird thing... I was driving home from a Doctor's appointment one day recently, and was passing a thrift store and a voice in my head said, "Go in and dig until you find it"... so I did, and found a Televideo 4 switch VCS with power adapter, paddles, a single driving paddle, and a single joystick... no RF modulator, no carts. Picked that up for $3.75. The paddles worked after cleaning... and I've got a couple carts on the way to test the 2600... If it doesn't work, it may be a donor for the Flashback II mod. So... really, I blame Xevious for this whole mess. 1006819 After all the the time and money you spent on trying in vain to recreate that Xevious experience, you could've just bought a Xevious coin-op.

If you only have room or budget for 1 game, just go with a Mame cabinet, or at least a Jamma cabinet with a 39 in 1 board in it. Then there's something that will make everybody happy.

I was going to mention that the Intellivision and also the Texas Instr. TI-99/4A version of Demon Attack contain the boss level, and awesome graphics, albeit different than the 2600 version. I remember loving the 2600 version of Demon Attach as a kid, and then I saw the Intv version on display at JC Penney, and was just blown away by the graphics! To date I love both Phoenix and Demon Attack (all versions of it for all platforms), and cannot honestly say I prefer one over the other.

What was the worst 2600 arcade conversion?
tillenterprises replied to The_Laird's topic in Atari 2600
The label looks nice... Seriously, I voted CongoBongo, too. I own the arcade game, and the 2600 version is just a mess. I liked Defender, BTW. Yes, I have Stargate, but 2600 Defender was huge when it came out, and I liked it better than the arcade version, since I've always sucked at the arcade version. Ditto for 2600 Missile Command vs. arcade version -
I've been waiting for Gorf Plus or 2000 or whatever they were going to call it for years now. I was really looking forward to that!

Mattel (Intellivision) had all the rights to any home Tron games back then. I'm guessing the game you are talking about is Tron Maze-A-Tron. They also had Tron Deadly Discs and Tron Solar Sailor, which used the Intellivoice. Here's a reference page: http://www.intellivisionlives.com/bluesky/...s/credits.shtml

Anyone seen a cocktail Tempest for sale?
tillenterprises replied to bowser724's topic in Arcade and Pinball
It's interesting you posted this just now- I saw my first one on Saturday! I drove to the Lansing, Michigan area to pick up a Warlords upright that I won on Ebay, and he had one sitting in his garage. He said it wasn't working, but complete, and I believe it's for sale. If you're interested, you can e-mail him at His name is Greg, and tell him Joe, the guy who picked up the Warlords referred you. -
question about caverns of mars
tillenterprises replied to shawnb's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Okay, this is all great and everything... but the question hasn't been answered- will this new improved version of COM be on yet another revision of the FB2 or the FB3, or better yet, will it be available as a cart that we can order from the Atari Age store? BTW, I'm getting kind of tired of returning my FB2 to the store in exchange for a new improved version. I hope that at one point we will have the final version in the stores. -
XBOX 360 Has nothing on the Atari 2600 article
tillenterprises replied to George Gray's topic in Atari 2600
He's right, though! Today's games may look pretty, but I find that most of them lack the simple addictiveness of the Atari 2600 games. When I play most of today's games, I get bored, but I never get tired of hitting the reset swtich when playing Kaboom! -
My essentials (not necessarily in this order) 1) Kaboom! (the most addictive game of all time, IMO) 2) Frostbite 3) Megamania 4) Keystone Kapers 5) Demon Attack 6) HERO 7) Phoenix 8 ) Solar Fox 9) Millipede 10) Ms. Pac-Man 11) Moon Patrol 12) Joust 13) Plaque Attack 14) Space Invaders 15) Robot Tank 16) Beamrider 17) Dragonfire 18) Frankenstein's Monster 19) Warlords 20) Adventure 21) Haunted House 22) Battlezone 23) Berzerk 24) Super Breakout 25) Tennis (Activision or Atari Realsports) 26) Crystal Castles 27) Mario Bros. 28) Save Mary! 29) Stargate (aka Defender II) 30) and the new homebrew Fall Down!
