Favorite version of RIVER RAID?
Ripdubski replied to OldSchoolRetroGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I spent the most time with Atari 2600 version, followed closely by the A8 version. I also have played the Intellivision and Coleco version. I think my favortie is the A8 version. -
I loved Bonks Revenge when. I had a TG16.
-
Well Paddleship and Minijong both seem excellent! Mine doesnt stand a chance. : Officially moving mine to back burner. Lol

Getaway was good, but it was a pretty popular APX game. This may have been popular as well, though I don't recall too many friends playing it: Pharaohs Curse

I started out with one game that there was no way to get everything in 10 lines. Scrapped. Moved to another idea and realized it too was never going to fit. On my third and am 3 lines over budget. Squeezing logic, snd tracing a nasty screen object bug that resulted from a slight change along the way. And its slow as tar.

So what effect do the front switches have on the 7800 games. Presumably they are there for the 2600 carts.

Look at what the industry uses - gold. Certainly they cant all be wrong.

You perform the operation on the values in the two locations to get the memory address. One is a high byte, the other is a low byte. This is covered in depth on the first few pages of Mapping The Atari. http://www.atariarchives.org/mapping/introduction.php

ANTIC the Atari 8bit Podcast is now available
Ripdubski replied to Subby's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Oops ignore previous post. Wrong podcast i saw an update for. -
Wow! Much fun was had! I don't care for the. CX78 europads too much, but the CX40 saved the day. Was a little disappointed in the control response (both controllers i used) in Ms. Pac-Man but still a very good implementation. Robotron was difficult with a single controller, I hve two CX78's and it sounds like you can use both controllers so Ill try that next time. Ballblazers no fun alone! Lol. Didnt play Jinks yet. Hope to get some serious time with it this weekend. Composite out was clear and looked good! Now the quest for Donkey Kong and his son begins.

I got the CX24's, do the Genesis pads have two sticks?
-
Got it today! Very excited to play. 7 games now. Joust Ballblazer Pole Position II Galaga Ms. Pac-Man Robotron 2084 Jinks Still inbound: Xevious Dig-Dug I was going to work tonight, but now I dont see that happening.
-
Received today! Not quite flawless, but damn close. Some very small scuffs on the underbelly, and an ever so tiny dent on an otherwise new top label (on the rightmost edge). Good enough though since it will see playtime.

I was working on one, and still will, but am finding it very difficult to get all i need done. I have my player movements, but still trying to fit objectives and score. Atari Basic. Fingers crossed.
-
There were also some small page 6 (usr) code used to do it.

^This, for the win.

I dont think so. When I put ATR's in Fat32 space, they show up in the menu, but none of them will work. As of this moment I dont have a solid understanding of just how to get an ATR into the image space, but i think it revovles around MyIDE Image Manager software (name?).
-
Everything is working. I just didnt understand the partitions I was seeing on the CF when mounted under Windows. Ive been using it now with 3 partitons in this order, and just wanted to knwo which one to backup (to protect my data):1 Fat32 - 950MB - xex files 2 APT - 950MB - apparently nothing, so wasted space 3 Image - 1.8 GB - where my MyDOS drives live (four 16 MB as d1 through D4) and where ATRs are stored I dont think I can backup the image partition since Windows hasnt got a clue about it. I havent looked at it on my Mac yet. I'll have to start Ghost and see what it can do. So it soounds like I need SIO2PC as well to backup data elsewhere. And I need to re-init the CF cards and do away with the APT partitions. Switching to SIDE has more to do with the lack of support from MyIDE ][ makers. Who deletes question posts in a support forum, really?!? Anyway thanks for the help. I'll use MyIDE as a game loader only, once I get SIDE.
-
Thanks for the great responses, it helps a lot. I though I was buying "Purchase includes MyBIOS technical support from Mr-Atari" per the web site in addition to the cart. I guess thats not the case. Sadly I feel I should have gone the SIDE route now. The Fat32 loader is awesome for what it does and the cart is high quality. I just wanted to know what partition to backup so I didnt lose anything (from windows or mac of course). Thanks again guys. Looks like SIDE is in my near future.
