  1. Something that always ratttles around in my head is a kickstarter to produce a new Atari or Atari compatable, specifically like the 1400xl or 1450 but with a single floppy (3.5") and and a built in expansion such as IDE+ 2, and higher resolution. With case castings matching those old designs. It probably would have to have a different name.

On the want list. Waiting for the real count list.
  3. Nice work, though Ive never takent he time to fully explore the game, maybe I will now!
  4. Possibly. It would make it nicer for ordering, but I was eluding to the physical inventoring being more of an issue for him/them.
  5. He may not know until he goes and actually gets it. I dont beleive he knows everything he has, and its probably hard for a small operation to inventory and track, unlike a big corporation like Atari. And that excludes other factors like unknown damaged inventory - say a rodent chewed one. Would you be able to know down to the last cable in an entire wrehouse full of boxes if you were the sole person doing it? I cant say that i could. I would do my best to try. Being a small operation he likely doesnt have time to keep the website or catalog as up to date as possible. Its written on the main page anyway - check the online updates. Yes its a pain, but it would be a bigger pain to find these parts if he were not in business. And being small he/they/whatever will have a harder time repsonding multiple times to the same email thread and same questions regardless if there was a misinterpretation. Will a mistake be made, possibly, but whos perfect? A mistake will be made from time to time. It happens. Point being you can have a bad experience with any retailer, and sometimes multiple people do. If you dont like Best or him, go find your niche stuff somewhere else - the used one with the chipped corner and sharpie writing on ebay may be a better choice than the new one from Best. I dont care if he's one guy or fifty. I stand behind the good experiences I've had with Best. If I were him and had to deal with some of the attitudes here, I'd choose not to sell to you, limited market or not. Just saying, understanding and patience goes a lomg way. /puts flame suit on
  6. I've been ordering on and off from best since 97/98. I've never had any issues. Just glad to be able to pick up new parts for an extinct company.
  7. No, I haven't moved anything internal. I also haven't had a chance to get the 1050 PS out and retest. I will this weekend.
  8. ARCnet, and binding IRQ's and IO addresses to the NIC driver or each computer.
  9. I had an Atari 520 ST at the time, it was right out of high achool in 86 at work. They got a PC XT in Data Processing (yep it was not IT back then) where I was a operator for an IBM 43xx series mainframe. Monochrome, and slow. Its also where I learned dBase, Lotus 123, and WordPerfect.
  10. I got it doing what I wanted. I am going to get a SIDE as well, with my intent of using MyIDE ][ for my son. So MyDOS is no issue. I was just curious about the flash process. Got a 4GB CF card, initialized, created a partition, formatted, wrote DOS, reboot, enable basic, wash hands. Boot, MyBIOS, any key, READY prompt. Yay! save to disk, load from disk, dos, Yay!
  11. Glad to hear that. I've bought from Best many times and I'm always impressed with how the stuff looks and how its shipped. When I got the last box from them the mailman asked me "Is Atari still in business?!?" He was astonished.
  12. Atari 800 - bought in 1980 when I was 12. Sadly the power supply gave it up yesterday. Wii - got caught up in that craze. Hate the thing now, can't get rid of it because my son likes it. Everything else I let go when I was done with it.
  13. Measured voltage from the PSU was 2.5v. Ill dig the 1050 one out and try it.
  14. Got tired of looking at stuff I wouldn't know what Im getting from ebay. Order a recon like new unit w/composite out and upgraded buttons from best and 2 cx78 europads. Might have paid a little more but I know what Im getting. Cant wait to play these games.
  15. So this question is something I guess I mis-understood. Am I understanding correctly that I cannot flash the MyIDE ][ cart contents without SIO2PC or flash programmer? So basically I can only put stuff on the CF itself. In which case I can't change the DOS to Sparta.
  16. That. It did not turn off like it should have. I'll check the voltage on the PSU. I have a PS for a 1050, but I have to dig it out. When I say black screen - I see the video blink like its going to come on, but the screen is "almost black" afterward. Thanks for the help so far.
  17. No cart installed. However, I did notice the last I used it the interlock didn't work - opening the lid while running did nothing. I did try opening and closing it when troubleshooting it.
  18. Two weeks ago I used my 800, bought new in 1980. It worked fine using a monitor out to composite cable. I got a new monitor to s-video cable for my 130XE. It was giving me some vertical stripes so I pulled out the 800 and tried the s-video cable on it. Black screen. Tried the composite cable on it that worked just 2 weeks ago. Black screen. Each time I left the computer on just long enough to hear the boot sound, worried about the PSU. So, thoughts? PSU or 800 gone bad? Other troubleshooting? I guess I can try the RF out. Thanks, Wade
  19. Received the MyIDE ][ cart. Dug out the XE, setup with LCD via monitor. Booted empty cart, seems to work fine. Now need the time to actually do something with it. Project for the weekend. BTW, the cart is really superb craftsmanship right down to the label placement.
  20. Hows the durability? I played on a MsPacMan/PP/MT plug and plug and the stick busted after just a little while under very little stress. It was one of the sticks that you could twist and change from 8 way to 4 way. Thats the part that broke.
  21. PP2, Joust, Xevious, DigDug. Planning on Ballblazer, Centipde, Ms. PacMan, Galaga, Robotron, and some homebrews.
