  1. Never had a problem with Best in my 20+ year history with them(him). Best is the best!
  2. I mentioned it in the podcast, you are right. The statement is correct. The conveyance is in error. There is a SpeedCheck, but not for the Atari. It was indeed in Compute! Gazette, not Compute!. Link: https://archive.org/details/1985-12-computegazette I spoke of it in the background section where I was talking about the programs history, and some of the other platforms. From my notes of that podcast which was just over 5 years ago now (2016): -Jan 1984 Version 1 for C64 and VIC20. -1.1 published in Computes 2nd book of Commodore. -May 84 saw 2.0 in Gazette Disk. -March and April 85 3.0 released in Compute! magazine. -May 85 3.1 corrections published. 3.1 full published in stand alone book Compute! SpeedScript: The Word Processor for the Commodore 64 and Vic-20. -May 1985, ported to Atari 8. -June 1985, ported to Apple II. -December 85 and Jan 86 published 3.2 update. -December 85 also saw the release of SpeedCheck in Compute! Gazette. Checked docs against user defined dictionary. Also checked docs from word processors like PaperClip. -June 86, SpeedScript 80 to support Commodore 128 80 column video, but worked in C64 mode and didn’t support extra memory. It was updated by Bob Kodadek to support the memory and was called SpeedScript 80 Revisited. -May 87, Computes Gazette re-published 3.2 with 3 utilities: ScriptRead which could identify and preview SpeedScript docs on disk with ability to delete them; SpeedSearch which was a word count utility (think Unix wc); and Date & Time Stamper, which would allow timestamping of files. -October 1987, Bob Kodadek released SpeedScript 128 which was a C128 native version which also supported the C128 enhanced keyboard. -December 1987, Compute! released Instant 80 for C64 which allowed viewing only of SpeedScript docs in 80 column mode on standard C64. -1988 a port to PC’s running MS-DOS done by Randy Thompson, published by Compute! Books. Written in Turbo Pascal, with parts in Assembly. -September 1988, SpeedCheck 128 was released to support C128. -September 1989, Bob Kodadek further revised SpeedScript 128 to have full text justification, tab setting and online help Perhaps I could have been clearer to which platforms the programs and versions existed. The Atari didn't reap all the benefits of the other Commodore platform.
  3. The ones I have say they are not, right on the box.
  4. The first thing I did was setup entries in the phone book, so dialing is easy. I've been using ANSITerm as well with no issues.
  5. I don't recall seeing anything about SpeedCheck. I will poke around and see what I can find.

  8. I guess to help round this out, last version of Publisher and Data Manager would be good to cover. BTW, Partner complains and says it won’t run except in ST Medium or High mode when running in TT Medium. Yet it funds just fine. So it’s mode detection doesnt appear to account for the TT. Probably never updated after release.
  9. Thanks for the instruction. I will give a couple a try and see what I like best. What’s the difference in msa and cmr msa?
  10. My search fu is failing me, so I shall ask with a flame suit on. How does one create (what software) an MSA or ST floppy image from a floppy disk? Or convert a DIM image to MSA or ST? Thanks Wade
  11. I guess I could have looked at the box... Thanks for the correction.
  12. The Partner ST is version 1.00. I think the disk is altered, as it has a game (control panel accessory) called ESCAPE on it, which is a break out clone. There is already a version 1.00 archived, but I think the 2nd disk (thesaurus) is missing. I also have SwiftCalc ST, and its version 1.00.
  13. I have a new episode in the works, and most likely 2 more after that. Stay tuned.
  14. I ended up buying it and another item he was selling. I haven't checked the version yet. I will soon.
  15. So... AmigaStore did respond to my complaint, said they would/should change the picture from the Tim Lenke one, and offered a refund. I decided to keep it and try it out, and now that the below has been done I suppose I'll just chalk it up as a learning experience. I installed the JesusD board tonight. First it wouldn't sit flat in the case. The case on the mouse I used has two plastic bars at 45 degree angle that stand out and fit into slots on the OEM board to keep it from moving around. There is a ROUND hole in this position on the JesusD board, but its not big enough to fit over the bars. I drilled and shaved the hole out just large enough to fit, and it is snug, sits flat, and won't move. When assembling I had to put the ball cover on first, as the tabs won't clear the laser lens once the board is in place. The laser lens only sits flush one direction so thats easy enough to figure out. There are two round rubber risers that go where the board screws into the bottom case, these will keep the board from lifting, and thus prevent the lens from coming out of place. There are two plastic square caps that go over the button switches. Then just put the case back on. When I tightened it all the way (normal, not over) the buttons were depressed already and would not click. Backing the screws out maybe 1/8 turn allows the buttons to work, and the screws are sufficiently tight. The board has 3 sets of headers on it. I tried them all from right to left. Only the left one worked with this STM1 mouse (serial starting with P1). Now on to testing. After firing up the STE to fully test, I have the following observations: 1) It tracks fast. Not much movement will take the mouse from one edge to the other. 2) For any precision, I had to move slowly, kind of defeating the purpose. 3) It exhibits some eratic behavior when decelerating, changing direction, and/or coming to a stop. Makes it kind of hard to land on buttons and menu items. 4) Impossible to move/draw a straight line unless you move very slowly. Probably due to #3. 5) Impossible to move/draw in a circle unless you move very slowly, even then it is difficult. Probably due to #3. After spending 30 minutes with it, I put the roller mech back in. Since I like the ST mouse, I'll look for a Tim Lenke board. Orignal: Not sitting flat, correct header: Sitting flat and very snug: DO NOT BUY THIS!
  16. It arrived today. What was pictured on Amigastore is the TimLenke edition. What arrived is the Jesus version. It has 3 sets of pinouts, a bunch of small plastic bits with only 3 that are obvious, and no instructions. Fun. I complained to them and asked why they shipped an alternate product without asking to another country. Waiting to hear back, not expecting much. Last order for AmigaStore from me.
  17. What Midi keyboards are you using with your ST's? What is a good beginner one (49 key min) that won't break the bank? Wade
  18. Is there a way to tell the difference? Mine has not arrived yet.

  21. Thanks, not sure what versions there were. I just wanted to explore it as it looks pretty good, but wasn't really wanting to spend $50 to $125 for it. There were 2 listings when I looked. Anyway, thanks! I did make an offer for this and another item the seller has. If I get it and its a different version than 1, I'll get it archived.
  22. Anyone know where I can find the disks for Timeworks Partner ST?
  23. This was abandoned in 2015 after not much interest. I'm interested in trying again. New call for interested parties. If you are interested and willing to meet locally (Greenville area), please reply with your particular platform(s) of interest.
  24. Thats pretty slick. I feel like the LED was a missed opportunity for Atari.
