Nice!
However I don't accept that Fuji.(redacted, but its not my favorite version) -
Maybe try a port other than 520, like in the 7K to 9K range.. 520 is used by Cisco's RIP. Maybe the ISP is filtering it out or something.

The correct driver as mentioned is needed. And, it won't work with 10.10 or higher (at least the USB version).

Hatari
I like Hatari, but it needs more shortcut keys.

Yeah, nm. Apologies. I just checked and it wasn't from the torrent (which is what I meant). Not sure what the hell I was thinking. Now I need to track down where...

The SynTrend - Stat disk in the archive does not work correctly. The Format disk, and Save File routines fail. The Format disk will not report error, but doesnt work. The save file reports acts like it will work, sounds like it starts to work (serial io), then eventually gives error 138 (device timeout). I was able to create a data disk on real hardware using the real disk, make an atr of the data disk, and use the image Load file - so at least load is working.
BTW, the version in the archive is the 1985 version, even though it states 1983 copyright. I have only seen minor differences in the version, mainly in the load editor splash screens. The 1983 version uses graphics 1, and displays additional text once the disk load is done (but before it is ready to run). The 1985 version uses graphics 2, and only says "loading editor" even after the disk load is complete (but before it is ready to run). I validated this on real hardware with real disks as well.

Try this: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/178454-packet-radio-on-the-atari/?do=findComment&comment=3193315
It's Compiled Turbo-BASIC, so it requires OS RAM to be available. There is an Atari BASIC version of it on one of the FoReM BBS disks.
Very close! Thanks. The one I remember had many more "fonts". I think I got past what I needed it for anyway. But it would still be nice to find the one I used before.

Hi Wade, yes, I saw you had a review for it after FJC linked to the box back for AtariWriter 80. Noticing your review mentioned nothing about the problems (and noticing that you gave it 8 bits, along with AtariWriter Plus), I started to think it had more to do with running in Altirra. I can't recall for sure, but I think phaeron may have formerly mentioned that support is limited for XEP80 in Altirra.
I actually listened to most of your episode on the AtariWriters earlier today; it's a great episode, with some great historical information.
I have a Mac, so I did plan on trying it in Atari800MacX. TBH, I really want to like AtariWriter 80, because I regard AtariWriter Plus highly in the realm of ancient word processors. I prefer to use Altirra, but if it runs fine for me in Atari800MacX, I'll be satisfied.
I only experienced a few "screen glitches". I'm not sure if they were emulation related or occur on real hardware as well. If I recall right, it was mainly missed refreshes toward the bottom of the screen. But I probably mentioned it in the episode.
BTW, I'd been meaning to mention it before, but part of your site banner gets cut off when Firefox's window is fully expanded on my 1080p monitor. It's fine when the window is only 3/4 or 2/3 width of the screen, but expanded, part of the title cuts cut off.
Thx. I've noticed that too, but only during initial configuration of the WordPress theme. I thought I had it worked out. The themes are sometimes a struggle with hosted WordPress because you can't edit the templates. It worked right in the previous theme, but I had to switch themes to get "excerpts" so the notes section in iTunes would show up correctly. I don't use Firefox, but I'll look at it and see if theres anything I can do to help it.

I've already got The Last Word on my website. I'm trying to assess whether AtariWriter 80 is essentially an 80 column version of AtariWriter Plus, which was a great word processor in its day, or if it's a shoddy/rushed attempt.
It indeed is an 80 column version of Plus. The feature set is basically identical. When I researched all the AtariWriters for InverseATASCII, I didn't have any problems running it under Atari800MacX. Link to my episode is here, with a bunch of screen shots as well comparing all the AtariWriters.

Hope it helps.
