  1. Amen. I have over 1400 positive feedbacks on ebay, the vast majority--like 1300 at least--from sales. Along the way, I've gotten a few negative feedbacks from jerks and cranks, and I don't care. I feel my record speaks for itself. After 1400 positive feedbacks, if someone doesn't trust that I'll send them the item, I don't want them as a customer. ...speaking of which: you can check out my current Atari auctions HERE.
  2. Now running over a copy of Skeet Shoot, I could understand. A Nintendo VirtualBoy--hell, why not? A TVGames Activision machine in a pseudo PS2 controller? Dude, give me the wheel. But a 2600? Some people ain't got no respect. PS-check out my ebay atari auctions HERE.
  3. Back in college, kids down the hall had a 2600, which they would play drunk every Saturday night (Oh, who am I kidding? EVERY night). One particularly sotted evening, they got so frustrated with a game that they beat the poor machine to death with a big, heavy, glass Vodka bottle. I've always joked that it's proof you shouldn't drink and play Night Driver, but they probably were just trying to get out of a pit in ET. PS-check out my ebay atari auctions HERE.
  4. OK, I asked this a few months ago--I need to find out what kind of a power supply I need for a Sears Video Arcade II. Someone suggested a Radio Shack universal power supply, 9V with a DC tip-negative. I finally got around to going to Radio Shack and they said they needed to know how many Amps. So, what's the scoop? Anyone know?
  5. At the very least, if the boxes are that cruddy and you don't want them, sell them off instead of throwing them away. There is doubtlessly a collector out there who'd rather have a box in poor condition than no box at all. Price the boxes accordingly, of course, but throwing them away seems like a crime.

    Boxed or not?

I've always had loose carts--I had to get to the point where I was never finding new games anymore (about 350 loose games under my belt at that point) before I started collecting boxes. I'm glad I waited. It's more fun to collect games and play; if you get to the point where you have a ton of games and you still want to collect, then start getting the boxes. They'll still be around (as much as they ever are), and you can always switch out the extra games you have to help fund it. Better to get loose games now and and have fun.

    Lots of finds

This weekend was low on the Atari finds, but it was a good weekend nonetheless. I came across a half-wrapped in cellophane Dig Dug box and a 2600 Jr box, with everything except the hardware--ie, plastic bags and paperwork, but no system. The two boxes cost me a buck each--now I need to get a Jr. to go in it! While this doesn't seem much, it's the first Atari stuff I've found since December. On the other hand, this weekend, I found on my porch a box full of advance copies of my book! (See avatar at left). This was really exciting after working on it since last January. It'll start dribbling into stores over the next few weeks so if anyone wants to help me raise some Atari mad money, please feel free to buy a copy. (In all seriousness, you can find out what the book is about at my website, cliveco.com). And finally--the biggest find--I found out I'm gonna be a dad (OK, maybe there's no more Atari mad money ever again...) So, all in all, a very good weekend.
  8. Put it in a litter box for a few days. It'll still smell, just not of smoke.

    Confessional Booth

Wow, 20 eight-year-olds, reeking of crap. Glad I didn't live in your house! I entered this thread thinking it was going to be something like this: "Forgive me father, for I have evil in my heart. I have coveted my neighbor's Quadrun, and have lusted for his boxed 'Guardian' by Apollo." "That's understandable, son; to repent, you must play 10 Skeet Shoots and 5 ET's." "Aw. c'mon--I wasn't THAT bad!"
  10. I'm back from Arizona and I just wanted to say 'thanks' to all of you who emailed me info on where to find Atari stuff there. Although all I dug up was a Combat for 25 cents, it was still fun to explore the area, and I totally enjoyed Bookmans. I must have dropped 70 bucks on books alone there (and that big 25 cents!). You guys rule- Clive
  11. For the record, I got a few detailed PMs with good info, so I can't complain. Maybe people are tight-lipped elsewhere but the guys in Flagstaff are willing to share (and I say thanks!)
  12. I'm going to Arizona next week and will be kicking around Flagstaff, Phoenix and Sedona for a few days. Anyone know a few places to pick up commons and semi-rare 2600 games? I'm not looking to raid any rare stuff, just to hopefully fill in a few basic gaps in my collection more cheaply than it would cost me here in New York City. They're asking $10 for Adventure at my *former* favorite place to buy games here, so I'm just looking to save a few bucks and have some fun treasure hunting.
  13. That happened to me when I found out about how people covet silver-label Gravitars...never knew I had a brick of gold there in my collection!
  14. I have dreams where I find boxes of games I've never heard of in a thrift store or junk store. Eventually, I realize that I'm dreaming and then I get frustrated because I can't bring them into reality with me! I get these dreams about 3 times a year--I used to get them for rare bootleg CDs in stores when I was in my 20s, and Playboys in the local woods when I was a teenager.
  15. There was crap on the screen in a few games, colors were off, and one game was flat out unplayable (I seem to think it was Atlantis, but it's been so long since I dragged that thing out that I don't really remember). Sounds were screwy too.
  16. I got a press release this morning on what Jakks is showing at Toy Fair this year--included is the following: TV Games: JAKKS presents new introductions of the Company's award-winning TV Games line based on top entertainment properties and the hottest names in gaming. JAKKS' newest titles, SpongeBob SquarePants TV Games and Activison TV Games, are joined by Ms. Pac-Man® TV Games, Atari® Paddle TV Games and Dragon Ball® TV Games to top the list of exciting new titles expected for this year. For more information on JAKKS Pacific's TV Games, visit www.jakkstvgames.com. The Ms. Pac-Man game machine will include Galaga (yay!) and Pole Position, as well as two others that escape me at the moment. I tried going to their website, and it mentions the new additions, but doesn't give any info on them, so there's no info on the paddle games controller. Perhaps they'll re-do Circus Atari so you can actually play it!
  17. I don't actually hate anyone (OK, just the NY Yankees). I've had my runs of incredible luck but I think you took the cake. Good for you!
  18. River, I'm sure you're a great guy, but I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that I hate you--or rather, your incredible luck.
  19. Hunting here in the New York area has collapsed in the last two months. The shop where I used to go get games for $3-4 a piece is now charging $10 a piece, regardless of whether it's ET or Eli's Ladder (OK, they don't have Eli; I just wish they did). Any local ads I track down selling Ataris invariably want 100 bucks for a system and 15 commons. All this has changed in the last 2 months and now I'm fed up with trying to find local stuff.
  20. I read the topic post and immediately started daydreaming about a Gemini-like clone machine with a tape recorder built in for the Starpath games. Given that Coleco made Gemini and that KidVid tape system for the Berenstein Bears/Smurf games, if anyone could have done it, it'd be Coleco. Come to think of it, since they knocked off so many products (Mattel Football, the 2600, etc), I'm almost surprised that they didn't go ahead and make one. It would be a terrible business decision, but that too would be right up their alley.
  21. I've been MIA for the last month, working on the copyediting of my book, so I didn't know this thread was going on. Please add me in for: Z-Tack Out of Control (with manual) Stronghold (complete) Glib Quadrun (with manual) Waterworld (boxed with comic)
  22. I agree--the drawback is that a lot of them figure that if you're a collector then you're willing to pay BIG BUCKS for their very valuable Pac Mac cart--and the rest of them. I've had a few cases recently where I found people with maybe 45 games and the only thing approaching rare was something like Tanks but no Tanks (coincidentally, the only game that I didn't have). I offered $45 for the lot, which was more than generous when you consider that a Rarity 1 or 2 is realistically worth 25-50 cents, but was basically told to F off. Fine with me; between the $45, gas money and my time, their rat-infested 2600 and dusty games weren't worth it, but it left me in a bad mood all the same.
