Anyone know how something like these two carts happened? The Golf cart on the left has very light, blurry lettering, so that you can barely see the "9 holes" on it and even the title is anemic. By comparison, the label next to it is robust, with clear, solid letters and vibrant color. Was this due to bad inks or is there some kind of thing to do with the plastic of the labels?

I had my games out and my digital camera lying nearby so I decided to take a shot of some of the highlights in my collection. Actually, I'm lucky because I have manuals to most of these--all the Avalon Hills, Quadrun, the CommaVids and Sub Commander. I have one for Gravitar but it's not a silver manual. If anyone wants to sell me one of those or one for Waterworld ('cause I got the box and the comic but I need the poster and manual), let me know. Best of all, I have Skeet Shoot CIB!

I added some new stuff to the list, including a Starpath Frogger manual, so I'm bumping.
-
I didn't spot what you're upset about but then again, I never go to the opening page of the site. Perhaps its the icon for "vintage arcade games" on the opening page that you're mad about (ie, extra competition for auctions?). I'm grasping at straws here.

Why Atlantis and Space Chase?
-
I never seem to come across good BINs--probably because you guys snipe 'em in seconds--but I was kinda happy with a Tigervision King Kong for $7 earlier in the week.

I've updated the list again--some more stuff has been traded but I still have all the Starpath stuff (including the Starpath Frogger manual) for trade. While I'm open to lots of stuff (try me), I'm particularly interested in trading for Atari Modular Cartridge Libraries (the interconnecting storage units that hold 14 games with a slot for manuals), as well as game boxes, Beamrider, and Froggo and Tigervision games. A Double Dragon by Activision would be awesome. Trade List Atari Games: Asteroids--Atari Cosmic Ark--Imagic Deadly Duck--20th Century Fox Dolphin--Activision Football--Atari (text label) Golf--Atari (text label) Infiltrate--Apollo Jr. Pac-Man--Atari Laser Blast--Activision Night Driver--Atari (text label) Realsports Baseball--Atari (end label held on with tape) Realsports Football--Atari Realsports Football--Atari Slot Machine--Atari (text label) Sneak n Peek--US Games (with manual) Solar Fox--CBS Electronics Space Attack--M Network Space Jockey--US Games (with manual) Superman--Atari (missing end label) 2. Was this in fact an Atari-created game or was it a different company?
-
CIRCUS ATARI In an age where people whine on about violence in video games, it's still a riot to watch a stickfigure get a flat head and writhe in agony. And then there's the fact that it's a great freakin' game.
-
I guess you stole that idea from Atari when they burried all those ET carts...which just HAS to be why I see it listed as RARE! on eBay all the time. On the topic though, hmmm, I'm still on the fence on whether to sell off the extra carts or not. None of the boxes are sealed, but it seems like such a crime to separate them from the cart. Of course, I consider myself lucky if this is the biggest dilemna I have to face for a while in life.
-
I have had a few cart boxes for a while but only recently started collecting them on purpose. As a result, I'm quickly building up a lot of "extra" carts because I usually find CIBs, not boxes sold on their own. So the question for y'all is: Do you sell off your loose carts once you get a CIB, or do you keep both carts? Right now, most of these CIBs are commons, so there's little reason for me to sell off, say, a loose Cosmic Ark, because I wouldn't get much for it; it's just as worth it to me to leave it in the box. On the other hand, I now have a loose Private Eye and a CIB Private Eye, and I'm really torn as to whether I want to keep that extra cart or not. What do you guys do?
-
Oh yeah, I know just what you mean. A few weeks ago when folks were posting shots of their collections, someone had a link to his own site where there were photos of his shelves, lined with hundreds of cart boxes and every oddball permutation of console ever made. Even I thought, 'Gee that's a bit excessive.' But I didn't miss a trick--I forwarded the link to my wife, implied that these photos were of a 'typical' collection, and now I'm seen as the model of restraint!

Good thing you don't own the cart of Gremlins!
-
I mentioned earlier that I'm collecting up those interlocking game storage units (officially called Atari Modular Cartridge Libraries if memory serves right). I should of noted that, heck, if anyone has some they want to sell or trade, drop me a line! I still need about 10 more. For the record, I'm looking for the kind that holds 14 games in 2 rows of 7, with a slot between the rows to hold manuals.

Guess how many zero feedback bidders contacted me.
Dolt replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Auction Central
With your feedback rating of nearly 500, I'm a little surprised that you're still worried about negative feedback. I'm around 1350 at this point, and the benefit of that is that I don't really care anymore when if someone leaves negative feedback. Anyone with a track record of more than 100 or so positive feedbacks is basically trustworthy, so at that point, people who leave a negative comment for someone with your level of feedback just make themselves look like cranks (which in a case like this is perfectly justified). -

It's always been my understanding that if you state clearly in the listing that you, for instance, won't accept bids from 0 feedbackers, that you are under no obligation to sell them the item if they win it, as they didn't meet the requirements. Am I wrong on this? -
A proto Quadrun?! Daaaaaaaaaamn!
-
I don't really recall when I got it--probably 98 or early 99. I found 2 awesome stashes of games that year, with awesome finds galore--all five Avalon Hill games with manuals, Glib, stuff like that. I'll take a wild guess that it was from the same batch that I got my Quadrun from, guessing that if someone bought one exclusive Atariclub game, they'd probably buy the other as well. If that's the case, I got 'em both for $2 a piece!
-
Bummer. Well, don't fret over it too much. Everybody has to leave a negative sooner or later. It's a drag when it's someone who has an otherwise decent record, because it usually means your item just slipped through the cracks and they didn't/couldn't get around to it. That's no excuse for ignoring 6 emails over a month though--you did the right thing. Just forget about it now and move on.
-
Not mine. Apparently the folks who wrote that "Collecting Classic Video Games" book a few years ago (which if I recall was boring because it was mostly photos) are selling off their stash. Some of the items seem reasonably priced, but their BINs are a bit nutty and in a few cases, they're just selling boxes with opening bids of $20. Nonetheless, it's of note. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...owpics=1&stab=0

This question probably leads back into the many storage discussions (I've started a few of those myself, actually), but I have all my games out to enjoy. It's worth it to have them accessible, and not merely for the fun of playing them when you want. A week or so ago, someone noted that silver label Gravitars are apparently worth a lot more than the red ones (I have no idea why, however--can someone fill me in?). This weekend when I sat down and spent an hour with Midnight Magic, I thought to check and discovered my Gravitar has a silver label. Obviously I would have never have learned that if I had all my games in some giant safety deposit box. All that said, I'm currently trying to finish my basement, and my secret reason (unbeknownst to my wife) is that I'm collecting old interlocking cartridge storage units so that I can fill an entire wall with all 330+ of my games when I'm done (can you tell we don't have kids yet?). As Bugs used to say, 'what a moroooon!'
-
Wow--I wish I could find ANYTHING at the thrifts where I live, much less Atari stuff. It's all just moldy clothes around here.

I picked one up locally in a game shop for someone recently for $12--just the game, no manual, no controller tray, no box.
