I have four Organizer-style storage units for 2600 games; they hold 8 games with a slot for booklets. I'm looking to trade them for 3 Modular Library-style storage units--the kind that hold 14 games with a slot for booklets. Anyone?

Quadrun goes for $300?! Wow--I found mine in the wild for $2 (with instructions, no less). Well, I'm basically with you on shelling out big bucks. I was lucky in that I started collecting 9 years ago and came across a few awesome finds that, as time goes on, I appreciate more and more (like that Quadrun, for instance--now I appreciate that about 150 times more). Mostly I agree with the others in that the search is most of the fun, especially when you consider that some of the most sought-after games are among the worst to play. Personally, I still hunt in the wild though the scores are few and far between these days; last weekend, I found 2 2600 Pro Joysticks and about 20 manuals for $10 and that was huge excitement, sad to say. When it comes to buying stuff on ebay, I tend to take it out of money made selling on ebay. I don't deal in video games, but I've been known to make more than a few bucks on there. Call it a second job if you like; it's a diversion to me--just like collecting.

Ok, so I have Swordquest: Waterworld, along with the box and the comic. Someday I'll be lucky enough to find a manual for it that doesn't go for over $60 on ebay (ahem), but in the meantime, it occurs to me: Did Waterworld come with a poster like Fireworld and Earthworld did? Anybody know?

It was worth $6.50 to me last week when I bought it from someone over the net (non-ebay), so you got a good find!

Reading that listing, it sounds to me like a two-person job--one person read off the titles while the other one typed poorly and listened even more poorly.

Yeah, but I always wind up with the Mo' Better Blues

What's the Radio Shack equivalent of the power cord? Someone on the local Craigslist is posting that they want to buy an Atari cord and I wanna drop 'em a line that they can just get one at Radio Shack but I don't know the voltage or model number.

Hunting thrift stores here in the NYC area is useless for Atari, but occasionally you find good trading material (like the three Colecovision games I picked up recently and then used in a current trade). But by and large, the thrifts are useless around here. The only one that has 2600 games thinks that they're all made of gold--sorry, but I'm not interested in a $7 Pac Man cart (and a boxed Othello for $15? C'Mon!) There's a few indie videogame shops that carry Atari stuff near me, so I guess that counts as 'in the wild,' but they base all their prices on ebay, so it's essentially the same thing, just a faster gratification. One thing I found useful was to go to chain stores like GameStop and, even though they don't carry Atari, ask them if they know of a place that does. One guy tipped me off to an indie store that I knew about, but at least asking him worked. Next time I'm in a different state, I'm going to try that strategy again. Garage sales are pretty useless now too--I think the last Atari item I found at a sale was a pair of Spectravision QuickShot joysticks MIB....and that was three years ago. Ah, but for the old days when you could get Video Pinball for 25 cents...

Voch called it--the album is Fountains of Wayne's "Utopia Parkway." Truthfully, their latest album that came out last month, "Welcome Interstate Managers" might even be better, but the cover doesn't look as good reduced, so I went with the UP cover instead. If you liked the UP album, though, I STRONGLY suggest getting WIM--it will utterly blow you away with some great power pop and even a country tune thrown in for good measure. To give you an idea of the quality, Blender (Maxim's music mag) gave it a full 5 stars. It's just a fun, fun record from beginning to end. End of Infomercial.

I'm waiting for the homebrew "Snuffy Snorts Snow" game, where the Muppet who sang 'would you like to by an O' sells some primo s--- to Snuffalufagus. Or perhaps "Anvils On Elmo"--it could be like Kaboom in reverse, where you drop anvils on him. I'd LOVE that.

Ha-I was watching that auction myself, but I was too lazy to turn off VH1 Classics and go bid. Congrats, Clive

From what I understand, there are two versions of the Stella CD; I have the first one which I bought after writing about it in Replication News way back when, but I am curious--what's on the second version? If it's noticably different, heck, maybe I'll blow $5 to get it.

BMX Air Master on the 2600 and solitaire on my iPod.

How embarraskin--I have almost all of those except for the homebrews. I just never actually spent any time with them.

Man, that cart with labels totally looks sweet. I'd definitely go for one of those... By the way, this got my brain aworkin' (and few things do that these days). Were any carts made for the keyboard controllers other than Basic Programming?

what's a roller controller?

Ah, but did anyone around here win it? Otherwise we'll never know what was on those chips...

That's really cool that she did that for you--I've always liked the Spectravision joysticks myself. It's nice when non-collectors try and 'reach out' to psychos like the lot of us on this board. For example, my folks called me today from a flea market and read off the names of about 200 carts. They were all commons of course, so I had 'em, but to hear my mom read off, 'Uh, Bay-Zerk, Vanguard, Years Revenge, Q-Asterik-Bert...' was a killer. On the other hand, she went through all their catalogs and manuals too, and found me at least 20 I didn't have. And 'cause she's my mom, they were 'on her'--awwwww. Of course, then I had to tell her, don't pay more than $15 for the lot!

OK, color me ignorant, but I never learned this part of the hobby: Why are heavy sixers so venerated? Are they worth more? Do they work better? Just curious. Let me know, because I just saw one the other day and maybe I should run back and get it, depending on what y'all say.

You know, I hear you guys, and I understand your pain. Beacuse I'm such a great guy, I'll help you out and support your kicking the habit. I think you SHOULD sell your collection, but what's more, you should sell it for practically nothing. That way, the pain of having lost so much money to such a foolhardy pasttime will ensure that you never start up the hobby again. Accordingly, I will help you carry your burden, and strongly suggest that you sell that collection, cheaply like I said, to me.

I said this in a different thread, but it's still true: Don't go nuts over him leaving you negative feedback. Feedback ratings don't mean anything--I have over 1330 positive feedback and maybe 15 negatives (I don't recall how many off the top of my head). When you have a decent rating, it usually means that the few negative people are cranks and you'll never satisfy them. If someone sees that I have 99.X% percent good feedback and is yet still afraid to buy something from me because a handful of people were whiners, then I don't want that person to buy from me--too much trouble. So don't fret over it--just keep treating your customers well and let this guy fade into the distance.

What would you do about this eBay seller?
Dolt replied to holygrailvideogames.com's topic in Auction Central
You're going to lose money on this if you mail it back, so you might as well just keep it and turn around and sell it on ebay yourself. Leave him negative feedback if you like but feedback ratings don't mean anything--I have maybe 1330 positive feedback and about 15-20 negatives. When you have a decent rating, it usually means that the few negative people are cranks and you'll never satisfy them. If someone sees that I have 98% percent good feedback or whatever the percentage is, and is yet still afraid to buy something from me because a handful of people were whiners, then I don't want that person to buy from me--too much trouble. Make sure to list the bug as a free bonus item. Clive -
It's the one with the Rubik's Cube on the cover and it's the only one I need to finish off my collection of the magazine (not counting the newsletters that came before it, which I don't think I'll ever find!). Clive

Wow-kudos to whomever won that...and to you for putting it all up for so little $.
